    Different between schmolr node and Anderson lesion

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb 8 дней назад

      Good question. A Schmorl's node is the result of the herniated disc pushing into the vertebral endplate causing a focal invagination of the vertebral endplate. Schmorl's nodes are common and usually of little clinical significance however, there are situations where they can be large and very acute. An Anderson lesion is an inflammatory erosion that occurs in the central portion of the vertebral endplate and is seen in individuals with chronic later-stage inflammatory arthritis such as ankylosing spondylitis.

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb 27 дней назад

      So you are right, the calcification shows up much better on x-ray or computed tomography. Pre-surgical MRIs may be performed for information needed by the surgeon, or to exclude any potential associated complications in that region.

    Hello, I have had a chest x-ray twice for muscle pain. The first time it said I had a calcified aorta, but the second time it didn't say anything about that. What is the cause? Are X-rays reliable for that diagnosis?

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb Месяц назад

      Hello! A calcified aorta on a chest x-ray is a reliable diagnosis. When plaque builds up on in the arteries it can calcify and be seen on a chest X-ray. Since it was only noted by the radiologist on 1 of the series, I would wager it is a subtle finding. So it probably looks like a thin white curvilinear line on the frontal view.

    Ty for the video ... I just got results back from my x ray and labeled me as having transverse vertebrae at L1 and L6 ...... but dident say any form of classification.... woukd that mean it's the first classification you labked .... they also dident clarity if it was one sided .... is that normal lol if you ever want make a video on the the presence of a 6th vertebrae in the l spine

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb Месяц назад

      Great question. So my guess without seeing your images, is that you have 6 normal looking lumbar segments. Meaning there are no changes to the size of the transverse processes, however there are 6 segments instead of 5. It is common to see 6 lumbar segments without a definitive transitional segment.

    • @danielhernandez-fo3mj
      @danielhernandez-fo3mj Месяц назад

      @xrayreview-drb do you think having a full l6 vertebrae would contribute to hip and groin pain lol I'm just so surprised by this as I do have pain in the upper part of the lower back right under the ribcage like bones touching and my lower back hip and groin have been hurting lol if it's 6 l spine that means the L6 would be lower them most people spine gos lol just picking your brain that's all

    • @danielhernandez-fo3mj
      @danielhernandez-fo3mj Месяц назад

      @xrayreview-drb and mabye the impression wording will make it better understand.... it says 6 lumber like vertebral bodies with transnationals at L1 and L6 vertebral bodies......

    • @xrayreview-drb
      @xrayreview-drb Месяц назад

      So most likely the L1 and L6 vertebral segments are incidental findings however if the transverse processes articulate or fuse to the sacrum, that may have associations with clinical symptoms.

    This is really cool! I retired from medical transcription, but rarely got to see examples of the things I was hearing from doctors and others. Not only that, but not long after I retired I began having severe musculoskeletal issues stemming from an occult (undiagnosed) cervical fracture four decades previously. To rectify those as well as possible, I had several procedures done in my cervical and lumbar spine. One could not be completed, as I bled out during the procedure; another was not particularly well executed and will have to be adjusted or redone in its entirety. At my request, I was shown radiographs of the affected areas, but it is interesting to see related issues in others. I love the clear narration which is medically accurate, yet delivered in terms understandable by laymen. This is a real privilege! Thank you for sharing! RL Atlanta, GA, USA.
