It’s just so hard to take people seriously when they say “Halloween kills” has no story for several reasons: 1- it has more story than the original so it’s a nonsensical standard to begin with. 2- Those same ppl usually suggesting removing parts of the story, ironically claiming too much is going on. 3- similar to 1, most of the franchise entries have little story present. The Blumhouse trilogy if nothing else, proved there’s a lot of hypocrites in the fandom that take points away for these films, for things they either ignore, give a pass to or somehow don’t notice in the older films.
I think people don’t like it for 2 specific reasons, 1. It’s meant to be viewed as a part of the new trilogy and doesn’t work as its own separate entity which is different for the franchise, and 2. The hospital scenes. I personally enjoyed the film but I can see where it lost mainstream audiences.

i feel the same way about the ips this year, even though it would've been nice to see the original set of ips that were speculated this year (fnaf in particular) - we'll just have to see how the current ips turn out once the event starts... well i gotta wait until oct to find out lol
@@slipracha It may be a mid year for IPs but at least our original house line up is looking solid! I have faith the houses will be a lot cooler than their movie counterparts. There have been a lot of IPs thatve made better houses than movies. (Which is hilarious.)

The Universal Monsters one sounds too much like 'Bride of Frankenstein: Reborn' for my tastes.
Think of it as a direct sequel to the houses we've had in the past. They're telling a linear story through the houses that carries year to year in one form or another. I totally respect the feeling of being worn out on these if they're not for you but dont fear! Im sure this will be its own thing utilizing the returning IP.
@@EldritchTerror I'm sure. I'm just saying, if I were in charge of coming up with a Universal Monsters House this year, I'd instead do something with the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Fresh concept, an underused monster who can still be scary, the setting could make for a great House, and to top it all off, the movie was filmed (At least partly) in Florida!
@@Adamguy2003 I absolutely agree! Creature has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and the kinds of cool effects they could do to make us feel in a swamp or under water would be mind bending. I’ve had my fingers crossed for years we would get something for him.
I’m really hoping Duality of Fear is an Otis scarezone. His eye was on the most recent horror night nightmares spec map and it would suck if he was all over the marketing for no reason
I would love that! The art they use on the Otis promos is gross and id love to see the area decorated as such.

Great video as always Eldritch! My favorite Blumhouse movies are the DGG Halloween Trilogy, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and M3GAN. Speaking of M3GAN, there’s a rumor circling around that she’ll be the host of Terror Tram over at Hollywood. Considering that she has the ability to hack and take control of technological devices, it wouldn’t be too much of a leap of logic for her to hijack the Tram.

I absolutely love the first two movies but this one wasn’t for me. Kinda sabotaged myself because I was super excited and had high expectations because of how much I liked the prior movies. Visually it was great but I just couldn’t get on board with the plot. The horror and music references were shining moments that I really enjoyed. It was a fun ride but definitely the weakest link in the series imo

Two reviews in one day?! Woot woot! Here’s my personal ranking of the X trilogy: 1. Pearl - hands down the best of the three and my personal favorite. 2. X - great slasher with likable characters. 3. Maxxxine - I love the 80s’ vibe but I definitely feel it’s more style over substance. Great crime thriller, but leaves more to be desired in the horror department.

@@yogijonah1243 70s-80s is my favorite stuff to be honest! Im also a huge fan of the cheese B movies of the 80s. For 81 specifically we have so many greats from Evil dead, Halloween 2, and The Howling all the way to The Prowler, My Bloody Valentine, and Funhouse. If I HAD to pick one it would be Evil Dead for sure but thats a solid year for horror.
@@EldritchTerror The Funhouse is definitely underrated imo! I’d argue it’s one of the earliest examples of slowburn horror. Not to mention the creature makeup was gnarly. I wouldn’t mind you doing a breakdown/review of that movie, it’s one of my favorite ‘81 movies besides American Werewolf in London.
