    What would you have Mr. Penske do? Also, Mr. Penske doesn’t own the NFL Tennessee Titans which is building their new stadium. Maybe NASCAR should buy the Speedway and series and ruin both. And BTW, are you aware that Mr. Penske’s team won 17 Indy 500’s before Newgarden won his 1st? You’re wrong!!!

    Ordering 5 chassis to support 2 entries is in line with the smaller teams. Suggesting this team is going to dominate in year one makes it seem like you are ignorant of how competitive Indycar is and what separates the top teams from the rest. Remember, people in the F1 circles had the same expectations of Carlin a few years ago when they jumped to Indycar.

    Oscar, I think you made a lot valid points. However I think the problem is the quality of the drivers. I dont think reducing the grid size to set number of cars is going fix it. You can have 20 cars on grid and still have bunch of yellow and red flags. There's too many drivers in Indycar who have paid their way for ride, and have not done enough to prove they're good enough to race among the elite open-wheelers in America. Limiting the teams from having more than 3 cars will help reduce the oversaturation of rental rides, especially from wealthy teams like GANASSI, which shouldn't need to sell their seats to unqualified drivers (Kyffin Simpson). I get it that these types of drivers have been around for ages and the motorsports business has survived accepting money from wealthy drivers. Sometimes its with lucrative sponsor, other times its just family wealth paying for a seat. The problem is that its gotten outta hand in Indycar and there are literally no checkpoints or stopgap to prevent teams selling their seats to ANYONE willing to pay regardless of the driver's CV. Too many drivers are graduating NXT and jumping right into Indycar without proving themselves. Last year Sting Ray Robb basically bought himself a ride at COYNE, and Linus Lundqvist who was NXT series winner, sat out because Robb had more money. It should've never happened, it was absolutely embarrassing for Indycar for their series winner to be denied because someone else had more money. I mean what's point of NXT if you can just cruise through it and jump into Indycar with load of money? F1 has Superlicense where it essentially prevents teams from putting unqualified drivers in their cars. Indycar needs to adopt the same system where they can screen out the poor actors and raise the quality of drivers. Require drivers to have 40 SL points in order to qualify as a Indycar driver. Essentially the same requirements for F1. Unlike F2, drivers are allowed to come back to Indy NXT. So there's plenty of chances drivers like Robb, Simpson, and Rasmussen can earn their SL points. Having young veteran drivers in NXT will help raise the profile of the series and provide a place for leftover drivers can earn their Indycar ride properly. As for car count, I'm firm believer that there should be 10 teams with 3 drivers each. That's 30 cars on grid. I also think reducing the pitboxes to just 2 cars per team will help reduce the payroll budget by cutting out ⅓ of staff that would otherwise be used for third car. If F1 can have one pitbox for two cars, then I think Indycar can easily handle two pitboxes (combined) for three cars. This will solve the problem pitlane space. So instead of 30 pitboxes, the new pitlane would have 20 double sized pitboxes. I also think the charters should be based on teams, not individual entrants. Simply because there's no value in owning one entrants, but there's significantly more value having three. More importantly no team is going sell their single entrant charter. It's only valuable to buy or sell as a whole team. So I think instead of handing out 27 individual charters, it should just be 10 team charters.

    I don't think there should be more ovals necessary, but also not less. Ovals are one of the part that make Indycar special in the first point, which sets it apart from for example Formula 1, which is after all one of the great rivals when it comes to view numbers and visitors

    • @oscaronboard
      @oscaronboard 29 дней назад

      This is true. I don't compare IndyCar to F1 because IC does far far far less views/races/attendance/sales than F1. A closer comparison would be NASCAR to F1. Not in terms of racing, obviously, but of everything else

    To expect any team to be "competitive" right off the bat is unreasonable and especially one with no experience running on American tracks. Tracks here are MUCH different than European tracks ( the tracks are much bumpier and of course there are no ovals overseas). Each track the first year is going to be a totally new experience. They will be starting from scratch on day one of practice each weekend trying to find a set up, going against teams with YEARS of set up data and the ability to have a set up to go fast right out of the box on the first lap of practice. There are also pit stops. NOBODY in Europe outside of Formula 1 ( with unlimited numbers of crew that can do a pit stop) has experience doing an 8 second full tire and fuel pit stop with only six men over the wall. Lastly, unless they hire a large number of already experienced INDY CAR engineers, managers, data people and shop personnel, they will again face a steep learning curve before they can hope to be competitive with the Big 4 and even Rahal and others with years of experience.

    Can't see Sargeant going to Prema. Think Prema will go with a young European driver maybe someone like Fred Vesti who they had as a junior driver and a still young but experienced IndyCar driver. And you're a bit out of date re the pay driver situation. Yes, Sargeant brought money with him at a time that Williams were struggling on and off the track and that is arguably the reason he got that seat (likely the same with Latifi) and also why Williams had some rather dubious academy drivers e.g. Roy NIsanny but apart from that I can't really think of anyone else. Think you need to differentiate between drivers who bring a truck load of money to secure a seat and for example Carlos Sainz bringing a beer brand to the team who have been sponsors of all the teams he's been with because they see a financial advantage in being linked to the car Carlos is driving.

    • @rawallen9715
