What a gift to find this lengthy reading, filled with humor and poignancy. Poets are a gift to humanity that so often go unopened or unappreciated.

This film is a crystal clear display as of why it was Mr. Sikorski, not Mr. Nowak who worked for seven years as Polish Foreign Minister. I have to admit I hadn't known Mr. Andrzej Nowak is characterised with such narrow horison, apparently being completely rid of psychological factor in politics. His way of thinking is too strongly affected by fear of being 'used' by Russians and this effectively prevents him from seeing long-term consequences of actions, let alone giving the optimum advice. As a matter of fact, even assuming that Russia is so aggressive and imperial, Mr. Sikorski's way of getting around in diplomacy is by far more effective, safer and better not only for Poland but also for Russia, than the current policy now embodied by the Polish state and represented here by Mr. Nowak. Update 2023: Today, Jarosław Kaczyński, with his 50K payment to Ukraine's armed forces, apologized to Radosław Sikorski for calling him a 'diplomatic traitor' and this speaks for itself.

No way! The Poles dominated during the commonwealth. This would be suicide for Lithuania. Our languages are completely different. A better union would be between our sister Latvia and Lithuania - Both are Baltic and the languages are similar.

Very 'nice' idea, by making Lithuanian-Latvian union you will raise your defence potential for whole 1,5 %... Union is not about the language and culture my friend, its about the security of the union's members. That's why Commonwealth of Both Nations was born back then, because you (Lithuanians) had problems with russia. Have you ever wondered why the Poles dominated during that era ? The answer is really simple, it was just more profitable for Lithuanian nobleman to have Polish Szlachta privileges. So it was kind of your own choice, our soft-power was just attractive to Lithuanian's nobles. Anyway, best wishes from Poland.

Have you ever heard of the "Antangil"... a 1616 utopian work presenting a Republic with a constitutional monarch, who can be deposed or un-elected at any time. The King's power is very limited, except at time of war being for the most part a figure head, perhaps best described as"first among senators." Otherwise the government much resembles that envisioned by American founding fathers. Has many limitations and checks on power; three branches of government with an independent court; those elected when passing legislation were "to act in the end as if the whole public had been assembled"; localism was also a check on power as any of the 60 states could reject any law in whole or in part. The book is a great representation of what people envisioned in the early 17th Century, especially from a writer from a Galliican Church/Huguenot perspective. You can see the government described therein starting on page 17 found here, antangil.com/translation/page_17/index.html It is a great book! I hope to finish a translation of the entire book one day!

I cant leave this without a comment seeing majority of comment below criticising him. Leszek Barcerowicz took a huge responsibilty to implement resolution leading to introduce free market in Poland. The criticism under his name is that this revolution couldnt end up without increasing pooverty and unemployemnt and breaking the current delivery chains. The problem was that in 89' most of the companies were bankrupt already and supported by the state, which couldnt do this anymore. What he did was actually letting out the prices to let them regulate themselves instead of stiff central regulation by comunnistic goverment. It had to happen, people can only speculate that it might have been less harsh, smoother or whatever, but all in all Poland got out of it the fastest from all the other post soviet countries and saying that Balcerowicz screwed up everyting is utter nonsense. He did a good job. Would it be possible to do it better? Maybe.

Do not mix science with humanities. And to the matter. It is sometimes possible to have the same ideal goals derived from different perspectives. Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth was based on Catholic faith. Undistorted and honestly taken. “Catholic” etymologically means “common” or “universal”. This means that vast majority of people hold a belief that their faith is precisely the condition allowing co-habitation with different cultures and religious perspectives. Today’s leftist approach to multiculturalism is very different. It is based on a assumption that nothing can be valued and consequently there is no “better” and “worse”. No moral recognition of culture is allowed and all judgments are only designed to divide and cause pain. This is a polar different idea and mixing these two together as a one is a gross misunderstanding. .
