yes i wrote this myself, otherwise i would declare it in the description. it's mainly just a simple 4 chords ostinato it's more about the orchestration. the moving character driven by the ostinato of the strings and woodwinds sounds like a timelapse to me, that's why it's named "chronos". thank you very much for stumbling upon my oldest pieces 😁 they may sound odd due to mixing and mastering skills, but they still came from the heart

first of all, thank you for the deep appreciation 💪 the way your talking about your analysis tells me that you're pretty much concerned about the details. i share your opinion about most of the other remixes, but i don't think they are a result of lack of skills or something.. i think they just want to freely interpret the core elements of an original work, while i'm targeting the sound and atmosphere rather than the music itself. therefore i don't change or remove any notes, maybe sometimes a bit of adjusting the arrangement or adding something to boost the groove. cause groove is what the 80s are all about 😎

haha, i'm a big fan of JRPGs, just never made it to the WA series, maybe someday. but when i think about WA music there's that strong morricone influence and i doubt that it would fit into the synthwave genre. but i have only a few tracks in mind, though haven't played it yet. who knows.. maybe i'll change my mind when playing through the first one someday 😅

@@juunjuubei You can tell that a lot of effort and work went into it. But it looks really fantastic. I've often had the video playing on the TV as background (mainly because of the music) when friends have been over and sometimes they could hardly tear themselves away from the video.

😂.. think he doesn't like it.. some other guy and me sent it to him via twitter and there was no reaction. maybe he's very busy but regarding his newer soundtracks i can understand that he's not very much into this style. also DKC music is remixed to death, there's not much of similar popularity among video game music, maybe he's just tired of that 😅

If he heard that sick transition into the Ice Cave Chant, I bet he'd be like "oh..... yeah." So good.

@juunjuubei The end wouldn't make sense if this were being looped for longer play, but in a short segment, I feel it works. We've been watching a cutscene in the valley, and now the BBEG/boss has shown up, or danger has arrived. We end on rising action.

i think the gravitas in the original partially comes from the harsh sound of the SNES string samples.. i tried to rebuild the original as far as i could in the first pass, but those old samples always transfer some unique feelings. that's why i always prefer the originals over their rearrangements myself lol.. as for the 2nd part with a more dark orchestration, i tried to point out the military character of the magitek empire and therefore drag it more towards marching music 🙃 thanks for checking and spending some thoughts about it! 🙌

@juunjuubei I think it is that more martial/march tone is what brings the gravitas. Marches are underrepresented in modern music, but if done right, they can work well in rock or even pop!
