COMPLETELY ROTTED LEAD BEND REPLACED IN 108 YEAR OLD HOME
He doesn’t remove that pc of pipe, it is shore cut, bad work
Customer doesn’t want to spend the money 🤷
Retired now but ive done many of these over the years and you made all the right choices..sure it would be nice if you can cut the wipe off and go onto the Brass of the ferrule but there needs to be a good 1" or more so the fernco will bite properly and using a med 90 even though you had to cut the shoulder down is still far better than a vent 90 or even those goofy ABS 4x3 closet bends..they just cause too many clogs. And digging out a 4" brass caulking ferrule with that much space available is just not realistic and if you end up with a hair line crack in that bell you will never try it again.
Good for another 30 years, I would have removed the lead and went right into the hub
Hey there David, I assume you always have to use some form of ratchet to remove the diverter assembly? Attempting my first change on this product. And that diverter stem is very tough to pull out. Had to stop using my plyers or I’d completely destroy the ends of it
Hey thanks for commenting. For this job in particular I indeed used a socket and ratchet. We first sent images to a company in Ontario (Niagra Faucets) . They then sent the parts to us and I took them to the supply shop and they matched the exact socket that I needed. I don't remember exactly what size socket I used unfortunately. Hope this helps !
Amateur hour! Who puts a coupling over jagged lead? Ever heard of service weights?
I like how you explain everything clearly to your customers, such as how the chain works to clean the whole interior of the pipe. The sound that drain makes just before the water is almost gone is exquisite! 😃
A happy customer is an informed customer! Thanks for watching as always !
I absolutely love when you walk into a unit. And the clean out is right there in front of you. perfect Great job brother, keep it up.
Much love brother !!
Take the extra time to do things correctly. Next time, pull the old lead from the hub, clean the hub, and install a service weight gasket. Then commence with PVC or ABS material. Ferncos are prohibited above ground and should not have been installed.
Nice work bro 😎
Thanks for watching chief
Great video brother keep them coming
thanks brother you too !
Hi Dave. What kind if flex shaft do u use?
Thanks for watching boss ! I use the k9 204 for anything up to 2 inch.
Awesome job
Thanks boss hope you enjoyed !
Nice job as always. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Same to you Mr!!
I use foil lasagna pans for drip trays they can be bent and manipulated to fit any space and come in full and half sizes... Great work!!!
Well you learn something new everyday! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts 💭!!
Awesome job 👍
Please as always boss
Beautiful work, Dave! I can't imagine all of that hair being inside a kitchen drain. It was satisfying to see all that soapy water swirling down that newly cleared drain.
No kidding she was just as surprised as me when I pulled the hair out!! You never know what you’ll come across. Glad you enjoyed chief
Beautiful work, Dave!!
Thanks boss glad you liked !!
Are those plastic gloves?! 😮
No haha just regular construction gloves that you get for a buck in stores ! Thanks for watching
Finally someone who doesn’t have a sink full of dirty dishes and a cabinet full of shit waiting for you😂 nice work
John thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts 💭
Great video !!!!!! thanks 🙂😇🙂😇🙂😇
Thanks boss
Nice job! That is a strange setup with the trap being underneath the floor of the cabinet, isn't it?
Yeah I know, the concealed traps are not the best of setups in my opinion!
Nice job
Thanks chief 💪🏽
looks alot like our complex's shitty plumbing. except almost every riser /branch line is 50+ year old M copper with shitload of soft copper throw in. ancient crusty havent been turned off in 40+ years gate valves arent helping. we just had 3 major gas leaks. complex is falling apart from owners being cheapasses for the last 40 years. charge large, do what you can with garbage that is there
Are you tied to the building so? What about leaving ? Sucks to have to go through all those ordeals my man. Especially the gas leaks that’s a whole other level of danger like. How did ye discover them?
@@davedoesplumbing I do renovations for the complex. New management has been rushing through the renovations. Demo guys have been doing more damned damage than anything else. Gas leaks just show up,usually residents freak out, fall 911 /fire marshal. Whole 3 ring circus shows up
I want to look away, but just like at the race track you’re going to watch the crash right 😂
No kidding and nothing beats a day at the races 🐎
on a scale of 1 to 10 it’s a 14 😅nice work
Thanks sir !
Wow
Never a dull moment lad
What a mess you had to deal with! However, you stopped the leaks. My sister and I are facing a similar situation in the house in which we grew up. We are cleaning the house out and getting it ready to sell. The second bathroom was built in 1967 in a spot where it should never have been put. It was poorly constructed with pipes on the outside wall behind the tub and toilet, and pipes in the wall next to the garage. A couple of years ago, the pipes froze while my niece was staying there. I had her shut the water off and open the drain valves in the basement. Back in the fall, I tried to turn the water back on so I could clean up the bathroom. I could hear water rushing in the wall while nothing was running from the faucets or in the toilet tank. When I went into the basement, I could see water pouring out of the hole that the contractors made to run the water and drain pipes to the bathroom. So, this is going to mean either tearing out the walls in the bathroom or accessing them from outside. So, we are going to have to find a plumber who is willing to take on which I expect will be a nasty job.
Im relieved to be still in one piece ! Late jobs are becoming more and more frequent as of late. Wow an incredible series of events right there. Especially approaching selling time. If only I was your neighbour I could get you up and running and upload! I hope you find the right outfit that can get you back up and running chief !
@@davedoesplumbing Dave, thanks for your comment. Believe me, if you were in my area, you would be doing the job for us!!!
Appreciate those words boss
Well their was some colorful metaphors in the making of this video. Can`t believe the person that built that wall just covered that mess up . Not sure about the black tape fix on that " outside faucet "?
You should’ve heard what was edited out of the vid 😂 I know and he did the Reno 20 years ago, and it was the hot side that burst. She’ll have a tonne of drywall to remove before the mold begins ! Haha you noticed the tape😂 Shows you how much I wanted to get out of there, in the end I had to do what had to be done. Thanks for the comment brother
Homeowner didn’t turn on heat while not home? Not much insulation on the exterior walls especially with water pipes. That had to be your last job of the day… good solid repairs. Thanks for sharing mate.
My pleasure ! Don’t we always get these types of jobs at least once a week !
There always is that one nightmare job that never stops leaking right Dave, I get so frustrated with those types of jobs I just want to get out of there lol
I second that lad! The customer said it was a leak on the outside it was so loud haha. I went there hoping to give a price to excavate outside and repair. I guess not !! I was back there last week and put in a laundry box
You Always take your time. You seem relaxed. And You do a great job. Much Respect
Much respect for watching and taking the time to comment !!
I had nine separate bursts in one apartment last night! Heat line and DHW lines. Great video dude
I should dedicate this video to you wow 9 leaks that’s the highest I’ve heard of !! Thanks for watching Mr 👍🏽
we had a 3 inch gas main take a shit Friday. none of the isolation valves held/worked or were rerouted somewhere over the years. gas company killed the main, 220 units without heat, hot water. had to use authorized contractor due to number of units affected. bill for that cluster came in somewhere around $20k not including the 200 hotel rooms reserved at $200/night
Great video David !!! you work well under pressure !!! fair Play !!
Mike thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed . It was a late night alright !
Nice work 👏 the plastic strainer look great, I have to try them
Thanks for watching and sharing your input! They're my go to strainer when im rushing to get to the next job. Kindred is the brand!
Nice work dude! Tight work space but could be worse
Thanks mr milk !
I worked in a cleanroom for many years. A couple of years before I retired, some disgruntled employee was flushing wads of vinyl gloves down the toilets to intentionally plug them. I don't know if the person was caught, but management had an electronic lock put on the door to the change room just outside the restrooms. Everybody had to use their badge to unlock the door so that names and times of use were logged. The person who plugged that toilet with food had no consideration for his or her coworkers, and is downright lazy.
Nice job
Thanks Mr 💪🏽
Very nice
Also nice that you took the time to watch as per usual chief
Great video !!!! thanks
Mike thanks very much !
As always- great video showing both your skills and your respect for your customers.
Thanks boss! Always appreciate you taking the time to watch
Nice fixes, I didn't quite get what caused the leaks at the extensions?
thanks for watching ! id say they couldve been overtightened ?
Do these builders see us plumbers building soffits and freaking bulk heads??? What the hell is that? I would’ve given him more respect if he had used even a pos flexible plastic trap as long it were done right but that’s just pure incompetence Dave lol. What’s wrong with these guys
Once again, you did a thorough and neat job, going the extra mile by eliminating the extra extension hoses in addition to correcting a badly botched drain installation. Your customer must be relieved to have breathable air instead of sewer stench.
Great video David !!!!! thanks
At 7:58 you put a paper towel ? in drain but didn`t see you remove it .
Well spotted if you rewind back you’ll hear me say I took it out before pulling the plug. Thanks for watching boss
Good educational vid Thank-you "Nostradamus"...😃
Glad you liked it!
Very pro job. I’d have used a couple shark bites and been out in a jiffy.
We should do a collaboration!
so why not just clean the solder of the 1/2 inch and make up a new 90 back to the pex ? butcher of a job IMO!
Okay Nostradamus go resolder joints on pipes that separated due to freezing temperatures
and you @@davedoesplumbing continue hacking away at peoples houses .... 🤡
Another hard man behind a keyboard you know where Vancouver is come and say it to me
All these keyboard idiots think there in the trade on these videos. Job well done mate.. I agree. The home onwers need to reinsulate the attic.
You all are clowns .... I asked a question and said the stud was butchered compromising the strength. If the answer was you can't re-solder a frozen joint then open the wall by removing 2×3 tiles, cut the pipe in the wall and cover with an access panel. what I saw is a plumber who does not give a crap about the structural integrity of ceiling. But hey what do I know, just a - not in the trade keyboard idiot ...
butchered
Go upload your own
Great repair in a difficult space. The owners have a messy and expensive rebuilding job awaiting them.
No kidding. It’s the second leak there as well!! Thanks for watching as always 👍🏽
