Ama Dablam: My Journey to the Summit | 6814 M | FULL 4K DOCUMENTARY
#himalayas #climbing #everest #summit #doku
In Autumn 2024 I climbed Ama Dablam, a 6814-meter peak in the Mahalangur Himal of the Khumbu region in the Himalayas (Everest region). This characteristic mountain had long been the summit of my dreams, and I’m thrilled to have made that dream a reality.
This documentary showcases my ascent of Ama Dablam. The journey began in Kathmandu, where we spent a few days making final preparations and waiting for a flight into the Himalayas. To stay on schedule, we opted for a helicopter flight directly to Namche Bazar due to weather conditions. From there, we started trekking, passing through Tengboche and Pangboche on our way to Base Camp, always with the...

After our successful ascent of Gran Paradiso, we headed towards the Monte Rosa massif, aiming to tackle several summits. A foggy climb brought us to Capanna Gnifetti, where extreme winds and temperatures below -20°C made any further ascent impossible for the next 1.5 days. We passed the time enjoying the hut's delicious offerings. On the third day, as the winds finally eased in the late morning...

Fantastic documentary! Stunning visuals! I was able to fully immerse myself🙏🏼👍
Incredible! The video perfectly captures the atmosphere of Nepal. I want to go back to this amazing country. Outstanding work!

Excellent videography, if you don't mind me asking, what camera did you use and what lense? The images are incredibly sharp.
Thank you! I just used a GoPro hero9 and my iPhone 13 Pro. It’s impressive how good those small sensors/lenses have become😅
Such an achievement, congrats! And many thanks for sharing this amazing production
As always, great video with a great music and real sound in a backround included. It is embalming. Stunning. Thank you
This Video is amazing, fantastic view and congrats!!
Oh man, so happy to hear “respect” instead of “conquer” or “battle”. 👍🏼
I'm also not a fan of this warlike vocabulary in the mountains🙏🏼
Is that a nest on the flag pole at 11:37?
I first noticed that in the recordings myself 😅. It looks like it, but I'm not sure. It could have also been build by people there. I’ll try to find out.
Well done and congratulations! Thanks for the great video! I should try this one year soon (or never).
Amazing video 😊😊🎉
You have been there with pasang dawa? Ok, than we met ;-)
Yes:) we summited on the 4th of November. Where did we met?
@@maltmountain on the lodge in base camp.. not sure if with you, but with pasang yes
Was great to be part of your Ama Dablam journey. Amazing footage. Thank you very much. Too old to summit, but have planned to hike up to to the base camp in autum '25 or sprin '26 to catch the spirit of this wonderful mountain.
Thanks for the feedback! You can definitely look forward to your plan. Also the hike to the base camp is really beautiful, with stunning views and lovely places along the way!

Amazing journey!!!!
A trekker here, i've done many treks in Indian Himalayas. What an amazing video! I was just reading about Ama Dablam few days back, you've covered your journey so beautifully! Loved the majestic views.❤️ Maybe someday I'll be doing this too.
I'm glad you liked the video! Yes, the Khumbu region is truly beautiful. But I’d also love to visit the Indian Himalayas someday! There are some fascinating peaks and it might be a bit more untouched.
Not everyone can do it 💙 dream place
Heavenly Nepal 💙
This video is perfection! I enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you for sharing your adventure. It brought back some memories from my EBC trek last year
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I only did a part of the EBC trek (during my Ama Dablam trip), but the view of the high mountains was absolutely stunning!
Really excellent video, in all respects. I’m not a climber, just a humble hill-walker, but I can comment on the English narration as a native speaker - extremely good grammar and vocabulary. What an achievement. Good luck with the next adventure.
Thank you for the kind words! It's great to hear your positive feedback on the English narration, as this video is actually my first attempt at using English voiceovers.
@ it’s very good. I write for a living. You have a nice descriptive manner and set the scene well.
Of course the grammar is good. He’s German and speaks better English than the English. And I’m an Englishman.
Wow♥️🇳🇵
Congratulations and a beautiful video, who was your guide company?
thank you :) The Climb was organized by epicadventuresnepal.com
Nice one
Camp 2 bowel evac would be an absolute nightmare.
AMAZING FOOTAGE AND COMMENTARY,,great watch
Muy Bueno !! 🙌
Wow, amazing, very very well done. Congratulation. Can the beginner climber (but in good shape) achieve this kind of mountain? How a long have you planned this amazing goal? Was it harder to manage all things before (preparation, permits and so), or climbing the hill all the way to summit?
Thank you! :) I would say that climbing Ama Dablam definitely requires some experience. Of course, good fitness is essential, but aside from that, you should definitely have been above 6000m before to understand how your body reacts to high altitude. Additionally, using crampons and climbing with fixed ropes should feel routine. That said, it’s not rocket science, so it’s absolutely achievable in a relatively short time with the right preparation. I first went above 6000m in 2019 (Mera Peak) and gradually increased the difficulty of my climbs each year. For Ama Dablam itself, I didn’t do anything particularly special to prepare, apart from plenty of endurance and strength training in the weeks and months beforehand. My guide also handled the permits, so the organizational effort on my end was quite minimal.
@@maltmountain Thank very much for an excelent answer. Well, I have some updates after a few days. I haven't planned anything it just showed up. Yesterday I found on internet some announcement about Ama Dablam expedition by my local country guides in november 2024. I just sent them the application, and I just asked them if they are planning the expedition in some future years, and they called me back immediately , that the expedition in 2024 was not succesfull and they are planning next expedition in may 2026 and they still have one place empty for a one person to the group. So I don't know what to do. Becuase as you mentioned I have not reach the high altitude above 6000m yet. My highest climb was Mount Temple (3544m) in Canada and Zugspitze (2962) in Germany. Beside that I walk around the half of the world throught the Russia, Siberia, Alaska, Canada, Usa. It's hard to refuse the opportunity when it is here now. I see the solution maybe not the easy one that maybe I should climg the Mont Blanc (4800m) in Alps during this summer, and if all goes ok, then maybe I can be ready for Himalajas. I don't know, somehow I will have to make a decission soon ´cos I don't wanna hold the place in group for somebody else whos more ready as I am. BTW: you have a really nice videos, great footage and beautifull music.
@@sonyarter Since you have plenty of outdoor experience, I think it’s doable. I’d suggest checking with your local guide to see what they think about your experience. Climbing Mont Blanc in summer is definitely a good idea! While you’re there, you could also consider climbing the Cosmique Ridge (on the Aiguille du Midi) with a guide. That way, you could gain some additional climbing experience.

@@maltmountain Thanks for your possitive support. Oh wow, Cosmique Ridge looks stunning. And again you made a really nice video with a great music. I watched also your Bolivian climb. Man, you climbed a really nice mountains. There are such a beautifull places in the wolrd.
Congratulations! Thanks for the amazing footage. Did the EBC trek in Nov 23. Ama Dablam is absolutely beautiful.
so awesome! congrats! I summited Ama on the 16th of Dec 2024. Our summit push was directly from C2 with only 5 mins stop at C3
Uh, very cool, congratulations! How were the conditions in December? Was it very windy? Yeah, we also considered going straight from Camp 2. A tougher/longer climb, but at least you didn’t have to spend too much time above 6000m.
@@maltmountain thanks. Yeah it was quite windy. We've been waiting for a weather window for 2 weeks! Even though the forecast was showing the perfect conditions on the 16th it wasn't the case haha. It was a very strong wind especially around 5am when we were passing C3. I actually didn't mind spending time above 6K. After the summit we spent the night in C2 and I had the deepest sleep in my life haha. When did you summit?
@@leraabercrombie2765 haha, sounds like a great adventure! We summited on the 4th of November. So 16th of dec is almost a winter ascent 😅👍
Super
Great work! 💪
Wow bro. Love
What camera did you use on the summit of Ama Dablam ?
Hey, most of the shots up there were taken with the GoPro Hero9. Only for the 1-2 zoom shots l used my iPhone 13.
Congratulations mate! Beautiful summit
i enjoyed this thanks
Congrats! Beautiful shots
wow.. amazing! congratulations!! huge accomplishment!
Soooo beautiful. Did you find the route technical?
I'm glad you like it. I found the tour relatively technical, especially because you really had to pay attention to find your way through the maze of crevasses. Otherwise, it probably depends a lot on the conditions, which can vary greatly. For me, though, the Antisana was definitely the most beautiful mountain I've climbed in Ecuador.
C'est tellement bien filmé... Paysages magnifiques et petits moments du quotidien, relax, calme, douceur et beauté. Magnifique, on adore !!! Muriel et Pierre
hello, can I ask if there were any sections with glacier where you would need to use an ice axe or crampons, or is the climb in August "easy" and no climbing equipment is needed
Hi! In August, additional equipment is probably not necessary, as there are no glaciers to cross. However, with snow and icy rock (which I once experienced in September), crampons would be very helpful.
@@maltmountain Thank you for the answer, I am going to go here in July or August so I hope I won't have to carry a lot of gear with me, I would like to reach it in one day from the vent which is realistic for me
@@Lukas-jq2fc Sounds like a good plan! :)
These are among the most beautiful expedition videos I have ever seen! Absolutely awesome adventure and footage. Thank you for sharing the experience. What a gorgeous mountain! I had never heard of Ama Dablam before. One question: Wikipedia says that a government permit is necessary to climb the mountain, and they seem to take it so serious that even Edmund Hillary had to pay a fine when his expedition approached the summit without permit. 🙂 What is the reason for the permit? Does it have some religious background (holy mountain or something), or is the mountain considered as too dangerous or fragile to allow uncontrolled mass expeditions?
Wow, thank you for your feedback! To answer your question: According to the Nepalese government, permits are required for mountain climbing to regulate the number of expeditions and protect the Himalayan environment. I think this permits are also said to help generate revenue for local communities and to uphold respect for religious significance of the mountains.
Love your documentation with all the wonderful views
It’s good to hear that :)

Absolutely stunning
unfassbare Aufnahmen! Gratuliere dir zu diesem Abenteuer! Ich will auch dorthin:) Wie kann ich das buchen. Wo muss ich unterschreiben?
