[UPDATED] T206 vs ChatGPT (OpenAI knows everything????)
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, the fact is the alteration only added to the value (Sorry, card purists). This particular Wagner, PSA card serial #1, will always be one of the most famous & valuable. But man! Wouldn't you like to have seen that sheet before it was cut & know the story behind that?!
Yup! Couldn't agree more on that. An image of an uncut sheet would definitely help on the effort of t206 research (e.g. size of uncut sheet, how cards were aligned... etc)
it's too fast
Thanks for the feedback. I would think most people would speedup the video while watching this kind of material. With that said, you can also slow down the speed of the video to 0.5x if you think it is too fast. Appreciated your feedback.!
Are u looking for a t206 Honus Wagner for $5k?
Looked like a rebacked card
I'm going to email you my guess, Pat. If I'm correct, I'd rather see the gift card go to another sub.
Although I'm certain it's not correct, now that I have looked on Ebay for my quess, as they are readily available for under $100.
Looks like the bounty is for a coconut
Thanks for sharing
Why didn’t it show who the card was?
That's because that pack was a fake pack and so as that card.
Geez let the guy talk and stop interrupting him so much.
Thanks for the feedback. In fact, I do agree with you but I thought people who really interested in that uncut 2 hrs interview would rather watch at Brian's channel. Sorry about that.
@@t206museum8I think he was talking about Brian interrupting Bill
The fakes are hard to duplicate for several reasons: 1. The backs of Piedmont have a design on the back that has never been duplicated. I have some real ones myself and even the new design by Topps T206 that has a Piedmont back is not exactly the same. I've collected baseball cards for over 55 years and know the difference. I have seen fakes and there is other companies that have marketed fake replica T206 cards, the packs seen in this video look authentic to me. They never had cigarettes in them pack, they are tobacco only in the packs, usually the cards were placed in the middle of the tobacco as my uncle used to smoke tobacco from both Piedmont & Sweet Copral, this is how I aquired original T206 cards. He would carefully open each pack in front of me, then pull out a baseball card. We collected and still have 40 original T206 cards, back then we placed them in a shoe box because they never had protection for them. So, most of my cards are somewhat rough shape but, some are in mint condition too. My uncle then started smoking Lucky Strikes cigarettes so, he stopped buying other tobacco. This is the reason why they called them tobacco cards, not cigarette cards.
Thanks for the comments. You bring up a very interesting point, do you mean those two Piedmont packs that I shown in the video never had cigarettes in them? I am a bit confuse when u stated "tobacco", do u mean there were just a brick of loose tobacco leaves inside those Piedmont packs?
Why did they pull the card out and shove it back in when they are being so careful?
I don't think they are "being so careful", they just don't want to show too much detail of that fake card from a fake box.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and I subscribed even though I am not a T206 collector but a vintage baseball card collector of the post war era. You presented the information very well and very clearly and to be quite honest I found the whole presentation quite riveting. Thank you again.
6:59 I believe I know the reason no one else confirmed this was a reprint. "Jerry" didn't show this card to Beckett or a retired professional grader. In both cases, they would have taken much less than four hours to determine the card was fake. Given the information you shared, it seems like this was just an ordinary scammer with a poorly made counterfeit card. Unfortunately, this is a common scenario with cards.
You could be right and that's why I handled the situation very carefully when I met "Jerry" in person. In fact, "Jerry" did forwarded me the actual reply from Beckett so I do believe he did submitted his "Wagner" to them. "Jerry" was willing to travel to meet me close to where I live so I didn't lose much besides one hr of meeting time and a few hrs of making this video. LOL. (Hopefully people who watched this video learnt a thing or two how to spot Wagner reprints)
Hello Pat. In no way an expert here, but in addition to the Wagner font being off, the white showing on the back corners was too white for a T206.
You are absolutely correct!!
Also, I have a buddy that collects bottles, but I forgot which old bottle you're looking for. Tried to find the video, but that didn't work, but I was sure it was you.
@@UncleGarysCollection Yes, I think that was me. I am looking for a Lash's Bitters bottle to match with my card. ruclips.net/video/TBrZ71LxliQ/видео.html
Great information. As soon as I saw the front I could take it wasn't authentic. The lettering is way off. I actually won a T206 Wagner in the 2007 Mastro Live auction at the National in Cleveland for a client of mine. It was incredible to have that card in my possession if only for a few days.
I held David Hall's Wagner at the HA private party. That orange background was so bright that I would never forget....
Yes, that Wagner card front was definitely a big giveaway but I was really curious about its back since it looked so authentic in the pic that he sent me... obviously, see it in person was a complete diff story. LOL
@@t206museum8 It's amazing that people can convince themselves they have something authentic when it's clearly not. If someone finds a Wagner they should send it to PSA or SGC, not contact their local card shop or some paper specialist.
Very cool story!! The lettering did seem weird
Thank you..... Hope you learnt how to differentiate real and reprint t206s from this video.
@@t206museum8 I've been collecting t206s for a while now. I love your videos since you seem to be the only one producing new t206 content, and you also have real rarer backs, not just pictures. I just got a brown lenox psa 3 Smith. I like your brown old mill!! Have you seen the blue old mills? Thoughts?
@@thaatguuy4554 I have never seen a Blue Old Mill backs in person so I can't really comment on that. As far as I remember, there are at least two known to exist.
@@thaatguuy4554 Congrats of adding a Brown Lenox back in your collection. One of my brown Lenox is also Smith. Now you know your Smith has a sister. :)
@t206museum8 if your brown old mill ever needs a good home, i can provide one😁😁
Hello Pat. Alot of good information, as usual.
Thank you! Hope those info help everyone!
I have a card that I thought might line up with the right part of Willis, but it appears that I'm wrong. The player on my card appears to be the right part of Bill Bradley. This is a fun video, trying to put together a 100 year old puzzle.
Yup, it is a big project try to put an uncut sheet back together given many of these "puzzles" are long gone.
Looking forward to part 2!
Love these videos! Very educational

You are welcome. I enjoy watching your videos too!
Is this card a blank back? GREAT video, THANK YOU!!
No, this LaPorte has a Piedmont back.
Looking forward to hearing the second part of the story!
No chance that is authentic. Everything is wrong with it. The toning on the back, the printing on the front, and they only want to submit to Beckett because it’s “cheaper.”
I completely agree with you. However, I am not allow to provide my opinion on this card as of this moment. I will post a full version video regards to this card in the future.
Good luck with the card, thanks for sharing
very cool video, thank you for posting this. learned a lot
Cool channel. Thanks for sharing the information 🤝-Red
I have a Gabby Street Catching 460/30 Yellow Brown in my collection, super fun card.
Good to hear you also has a yellow brown scrap! They are truly fun and interesting cards to own!
I would like a video about the multi-overprint backs.
Thx for the feedback and interest. I will work on videos about those multi-overprint backs.
Super cool box! Congratulations on the addition!
Stay tuned. I got a lot more tobacco boxes to "show off" LOL
Beautiful pack, congrats. Thanks for sharing
You are welcome! I got a lot more packs in my collection to share with you guys. :)
Very interesting video
Wow quite impressive collection of great historical significance in tobacco and sport
You have a great collection of packs. I would love to see more and especially packs being opened. By the way, will you be going to the National next month?
Unfortunately, National isn't my thing since I don't find things that I collect there and I am not a seller so there's no pt for me to go. However, I might consider to be at Rosemont in 2025 since it is closer to me.
Absolutely amazing collection. So glad i came across your channel.
Glad you like my video, Mike! There are more to come! Enjoy!
@t206museum8 This is the type of stuff I wish to collect in the future, so I'm here to learn as much as I can.
@@biggmike_cards Materials that I collect are hundred year old and I find "new" info once a while and have been learning as well. 😅
Incredible packs! I can't wait to see one of these get opened
Yeah!!! Once I am able to find more information about those packs then I will open them up! Stay Tune!
This was very interesting. Didn't even know that card existed.
Most people only pay attention to card front but error card backs like this deserve some attentions too. :)
Really interesting. I didn't know about these. Thanks for sharing.
I have been collecting these T206s for over 40+ yrs and I am still learning new things everyday. Appreciated your comment!
Your an idiot
More cool stuff, Pat! Always a pleasure when a new video posts.
Thanks for watching.... More to come!
It truthfully makes me wonder how people obtain these packs now and how they came about them. I've only known 1 person to find this type of thing in it's original condition through accidently comeing across it in a old house. We day dream about this kind of thing happening to us often bc of it's value. Makes you wonder which card was in these packs?
The excitement of opening these kind of packs are thru the roof.... Could be Cobbs sitting inside or no card at all or may be coupons that printed in thin paper.
Very interesting man, thanks for sharing!
You are welcome. Stay tuned for more videos!
This is great! Always love learning about this and hope to add a Tobacco pack to my collection. Dave
Always nice to hear someone out there also has passion about this. Take your time and you will get your pack(s) in your collection eventually. 😏
Another interesting vid, Pat. You definitely have some great items in your collection. Sadly, you have to basically hide these old items in order to preserve them. I don't have any packs, but will absolutely be looking for any, in any condition.
It definitely takes time to build my collection. With the help of internet, it should take much shorter time to find what you want. Keep it up!
Thanks for the video, you shared a lot of great information and I really enjoyed it! It's definitely a must-watch for any new collector. I had no idea there was such a thing as tobacco bugs. How unfortunate that even otherwise pristine packs may have tobacco bug damage.
Glad you enjoyed it! There are more to come. :) Stay Tuned!
How much is a box
It really depends on the conditions and the time period they were from. They are in the range of $150 to $350 even for opened box.
The wrapper gives it away there was no wrappers that survived they all melted into the packs this proves a fake
For packs that aren't exposed in extreme conditions, they could survive inside those brittle wrapper for hundred year. I have a few of them like that and still in pretty decent conditions.
They most certainly did have a wrapper on them
I found a pack of sweet caporals with a mint card in it right around 2001! Remodeling a house and the pack was in between floors...
Wow.... that's a great thing to know. Do you happen to still have the Sweet Caporal pack and the card that you pull? What's that a baseball card or just a non-sport card?
@t206museum8 yes I have the pack..not the best of shape...but the card is mint...corners are perfect and all the gold bordering is perfect too..the card is hugh duffy
@@TonySmith-jx2nc That's exciting! If you don't mind, would you be able to send me a few images of the pack and the card that you pull? I would love to make a video out of that. Please email them to f-a-q@t206museum.com I can't wait to see those images. Thanks in advance.
@@TonySmith-jx2nc I have seen and opened Piedmont packs that have tobacco cards inside but I have never seen Sweet Caporal pack like that. I wonder that's a soft pack or was it also a pull out slide shell type of pack. Would be really nice to see images of the actual pack. :)
@t206museum8 I will send you some pics when I get a chance to take em....the pack itself is in a storage bin but the card I can get at easy enough for pics...honestly do not know style of pack..I am not a card collector so limited knowledge....I do plan on getting it graded sometime in the future...when compared to the one with a grade of 8 mine looks much nicer so it should be worth some good $$..hopefully lol...are the empty packs worth much?
