Odd Sounding Shortwave Transmission
Odd sounding shortwave transmission.
The strange echo and buzz/hum in the back round gives off a strange vibe lol
Not sure there's actually anything creepy behind or about this transmission though.
If anyone knows what this transmission is let me know in the comments!

A simple trick to making cheap multimeter test leads last longer
This brings back memories from back in the day. 1977 F250 Crewcab in northern Canada winters and if it didn’t start the entire days plans to go to town would be ruined. We’d put a pan of charcoal briquettes under the motor for acouple hours beforehand and the battery would be taken out and put inside the house the night before to keep it warm. On real cold days we’d have drained the oil the day before as well and kept it by the wood stove before pouring the warm oil back in just before starting. Usually the combination of all those things would guarantee a start but the tires would be froze flat on the bottom and thump down the road for a while before rounding out again. 🙂 Good times!
Pretty freaky🤔.what do you think it is?
Not really sure, it seems like some sort of coded message or something. Could be military related really I don't know. I'm hoping someone else out there knows lol
@@remington1608 yeah.im sure it's not nuclear lauch codes,but interesting🙂😄
split rings are broken at factory, thats the way they are made.....can't put it on any other way, only Jacob chucks tho.
Thanks for the info!

I can't get my cb in my truck to work it like I'm not getting out to any one any advice
Hello, I would like to help if I can, first off what make and model radio and antenna do you have and where is your antenna mounted on your truck?
The older the better
Prety good reception. Very Hard knob selector
Yeah knob selector could be better, it's not too bad for the channelized tuning but for vfo frequency tuning I wish it was a bit smoother but it gets the job done. Thanks for watching
Typical FE exhaust leak. Ha!
Yeah I know right lol.
I hope it doesn't give up on you. Mine lost its receive after only 5 months and no help from the manufacturer.
Man that's too bad, so far mines been going good.
You should have showed us how to modify it for 11 meters.
In hindsight I probably should have, but there are other videos of the modification on RUclips.
And there's an even newer version out now (same as the CRT ss8900, which is also new).
I didn't know about the newer version I'll have to look it up. This video was actually filmed a little while back I'm a little late getting it uploaded. My radio was the newest version at the time of the video lol
@@remington1608 the newer one has a new board, a smaller case, and extra features. If you Google CRT ss8900 you'll see. It's expected to come out under the Anytone and Radioddity brands as well.
Nice radio
I just bought one used off ebay. It's in great condition. So far on my first try, I received France, Africa, Cuba, Colombia. I'll try it again tomorrow. I'm using just a sangean wire antenna. I did groung it to kill the background noise. But a nice, easy to use radio.
That Repair does not look good at all looks like somebody doesn’t know what they’re doing
You waste too much time talking
You'd better keep those things, the ChiCom fans are nothing but garbage.
Good stuff. I've a B&D maybe older than that. Same super hard plastic body. Totally worn out chuck and teeth. Might try putting a different chuck on like you did. Cheers, good video. What about a head camera to free up the left hand ...
When the rotary encoder quits working on your rad shack where do you find a teplacement lot these having problems
I haven't had a problem with mine. Sorry I can't be of much help. Hopefully someone else out there has an answer.
@@remington1608 Ok few people knoows ard having issues ond close freind It tenders tuning useless such a shame ghdh are kind recievers
Looks in.great shape. For. A northern truck
Well it's a North Western truck, it is in pretty good shape besides some dents and dings from Grandpa using it like a farm tractor lol. Mostly rust free and still has some paint on the frame too which is surprising for it's age. The engine however is currently undergoing a overhaul I'll explain about that in a future video.
My mower is a (1990)19” classic 3.5HP Original Engine
What's the brand/make name of your mower?
@@remington1608 Briggs & Stratton (Yard Machines)
@@remington1608 It also usually starts on the first pull
Nice mowers
Thanks, I have some more mowers I didn't get around to start or mow with this year, but I plan on making a video of starting them all next spring.
Having a late breakfast 9am here in Wales UK watching your video, life is good thank you.
Oh yes, it’s a runner!!!
Great old truck. Lots of character.
Had one of these from 1976 to 1980. Worked great!
I don't ever hear anything about these radios so it's cool to hear from someone that actually owned one. Thanks for watching!
@@remington1608 That radio and an Everhardt Tiger top-load antenna and I was good to go. I suppose the volume was jacked to be heard above a boat engine. The 3-pin power was adopted by Uniden later on in their marine VHF units.
I have a similar mower that I'm going to restore this winter. Those Eagar One engines run so smoothe. The engines last forever, unfortuneatly the decks rotted away.
What's that "Leaking water tap" sound please ?
I think I know what sound your talking about but I'm gonna have to rewatch the video lol there's lots of sounds on the shortwaves that I have no clue what they are other than most are some sort of data transmission. If anyone else out there knows please comment.
You gained a new sub
Thanks!
I lived in clatskanie for about 5 years. I imagine you are not far from there. Spent about 30 years in pnw
Just a ways south of there I've lived here my entire life (ok I'm still young) I really like it here.
Where are you in relation to the guy on the border? Never tried FM skip but now lol I’m gonna give it a go
I'm located in the NW part of Oregon Fm dx is kinda neat. I haven't been listening for it lately as I mainly hang out on ssb But with the conditions getting better here lately I will probably try to spend some more time on fm. Thanks for watching.
Old is gold, watching from across the Pond.
Thanks for Watching!
Your mower is a 1979 model and it was built on February 12 of that year. The B&S 3.5 HP engine would be a model 92908, type 1475-02. May I ask what the date code is for it, please? Example: 79010528 (January 5, 1979).
Model: 92908 Type: 1475-02 Code: 79012525 I'm curious how you knew the type number? I've always wanted to learn more about the type numbers but I have never been able to find to much info on them. I believe I read somewhere that there's no real way of knowing what the type codes mean or anyway of decoding them. But supposedly they there supposed to hold info on the original equipment manufacturer the engine was made for as well as governed engine speed or something? I already know how to decode the model and code numbers but the type numbers are still a mystery to me. If you could shine any light on them for me it would be greatly appreciated. These b&s engines are my all time favorite engines and to be honest I'm slightly obsessed with them lol would like to learn all the info on them I can. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
Also Im curious how you decoded the date for the mower itself, if you could shine some light I would greatly appreciate it.
@@remington1608 January 25, 1979. The code breaks down as: 79 = calendar year (1979) 01 = month of calendar year (January) 25 = day of calendar year (25) 25 = assembly line and shift The type number refers to specific features of the engine, and usually only the first four digits are required when ordering parts for it through a list.
I know it's been two months since you replied, I read your reply and then life stuff happens and this conversation went to the back of my brain. Thank you for posting that info however My question was not referring to the date code of the engine but that of the mower it's self. And then I also was talking about the type numbers. Unless Im misunderstanding, in your original comment you stated the year month that the mower was made Im assuming you where talking about the mower it's self since you then asked for the date code for the engine. I apologize if I misunderstood your first comment. My reply may have been a bit confusing in of itself as I was talking about two separate things in the same reply. One being the type numbers and second the date of the mower. Thanks again for your comments as I said before Im really interested in this stuff and I want to learn as much as I can.
@@remington1608 Sorry for having kept you on this: The equipment model number breaks down as... 11 = type of equipment (walk-behind lawn mower) 9 = model year (1979) 330 = equipment series (rear-bagger) 033 = customer code (Ace Hardware) The specific owner's manual would be listed for models 119-330A and 119-330-300 and apply to all customer code variations.
Do they cover airband
No air band. Just long wave, meadom wave and short wave
How long does it usually take to start on really cold mornings? Will it start without being primed?
I can't really answer that question because this was our first time starting the truck in this kind of weather. The truck had been sitting for almost a year so the carburetor was dry, so if it only had been sitting a week or so I'm sure it would've fired up without priming.
yes sir" and sometimes for fun. looks nice outside. thanks for dis one,,
What did you turn up to make the modulation louder. I believe its RV-2. I worked at Lafayette when these were new and remember taking the cover off and adjusting RV-2 ?
Yes I believe its RV-2 I think I turned it up all the way can't really remember for sure. It helped a little bit but wasn't a drastic change. I wanna try some different power mics on it one day.
Plastic junk
I don't know what ever happened to it
I had one of these and it was not worth a crap
It's definitely not the best radio out there I don't really care for the ssb reception on it but the am receive is ok. It works ok for me for now but I plan on eventually getting something better.
I agree. I have one of these. I paid $100 for it new in the box about 10 years. These originally sold for $400. I feel sorry for anyone who paid that much for one. There are 2 different versions of these radios. An A model and a B model. I have no idea which one mine is. The B model is supposed to be better. Mine is probably the A model. My Icom IC-718 HF ham transceiver has WAY better receive on the AM shortwave bands than this thing, and I only paid $500 for it. I see they are now selling for twice that, and have been discontinued. It also has a 100 watt transmitter if you have an amateur radio license. But even if you just want a receiver, you are probably better off buying a used HF ham transceiver with full coverage receive.
Maybe you thought it was a Yaesu, or an Icom or an Kenwood, or some other high end radio. it seems to me that some of you out there expect a high end radio.
Cool channel 160! I’ll keep an ear out your way. 73’s from the Bam UDX2SIX7 👋
Most reversible drills have a reverse threaded screw in the chuck, it’s interesting that this one doesn’t.
I was thinking the same thing. I did forget to mention in the video that the there was a screw in the keyless chuck when I took it off the parts drill. Thanks for Watching!
Hey! I just checked out your channel I'm gonna have to watch some more of your videos you look like you do a lot the same stuff I do, which is cool. I also have some fans and vintage hi-fi I will be posting videos of in the near future.
That’s cool, I look forward to seeing it!
What make is this radio?
It's a Anytone AT-5555
Thats a 23 channel radio. Where is the mods...
It has extra crystals installed for a few of the channels above 23 I actually have two of these both with the same mods. Got them off eBay not knowing that they had been modded and was pleased to find they had the crystals for ch 38 installed. Both radios do need a little work though, the one in this video has pretty good receive but needs a little work on the tx side. I will be making more in depth videos of both of them in the near future. Thanks for watching!

Looks new out of the box! Nice condition!
Yes it is in very nice condition, near perfect. I forgot to mention that in the video lol. The faceplates on these tend to fade easy, but this one looks new. I'm sure these radios make an awesome mobile radio but I'm Definitely keeping this one inside the house and out of direct sunlight. Thanks for watching!
No more video gates?
Been very busy lately. Going to try to get a new video up within a few days. As well as my skip videos I plan on posting some videos of more of my cb radio collection and my other hobbies. So keep an eye out for more content soon!
Very nice! Fun stuff. Skip is on fire, especially on 38lsb, 28lsb, ch 28, and 17. My mobile setup isn't quite big enough to get picked up on videogates, but fun to listen to all the same! 👍 314 mudduck mobile radio!
Nice 73!
They have a good receive
