How to Build a Ukulele - Part 1: Starting the Body
Follow along as I build a tenor ukulele from scratch!
The back and sides of this ukulele will be wenge, the soundboard sitka spruce, the fretboard, bridge, and binding ebony, and the neck mahogany.
I start off by making the forms for the body. They act like a mold that keep the body the right shape as I build the ukulele. Using a template and a router, I cut some plywood into the correct shape.
Next I checked the fit of my sides in the body form and mark where I need to trim the sides. Off camera, I trim this little bit off with a saw.
The next step is to carve the neck and tail blocks. These two blocks hold the two ukulele sides together, and the neck block is also what keeps the neck sec...

Good on you for having a go. Just some advice when using a plane, turn it on an angle so it can slice rather than chop, and lock your arms into your body and push with your back foot.
q buen trabajo hermano !!saludos desde Perú 🇵🇪🙂
Молодца 👍класс👍👍👍❤
There needs to be some tension on the latches, especially cheap ones. The higher quality ones have spring tension built into them but the cheap ones need a little offset when installing, a couple milimeters or an 1/8 inch so that when closed its seated tightly and doesnt giggle or just pop off
Умник супер😂❤
Where did you find the hardware
Отличная работа. Браво!!!
damm that music is too loud man
Wait a minute... This is like inviting us to witness a making of an airplane model, and there we find a kid who bought a kit (from an unidentified source) with a bottle of glue. Well...thank you for the "creative and informative" idea.
La música clásica siempre es agradable pero preferiría explicaciones o detalles de la fabricación
Hi, is there a part 2 ukulele build coming? Very interested to see your finished ukulele. Thanks
Where did you bought this vynil for the case?
Da pra fazer um desse pra monta uma banca de joias?
I don't mind the 1812 Overture at all. 😊😊😊
do you sell the templates
Its good contained videos.. My i know what you was spraying at minute 2:50?
That is a really nice hunk of wood to start out with.
Good job
This piece of musical talent is sooooooo gooood! My oh my good!!✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈🪐🌠☄🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡
What kind of wood is the main body? Thank you 🤓
It appears to be Ash.
@@Beemerboy324 thank you 🤓
led zep!
Fantastic job you have made. The finish on the whole guitar is first class. I'm in the designing stage of my own at the moment. Can I ask you the size and suppliers of the pickup, pots and bridge? I am thinking of using wide pieces to match a wide fretboard. Many thanks for your excellent videos and build steps. Regards from OZ. Chris. 🙃🦘
Cómo se llama el pegamento en aerosol, que le pones
Gorilla Spray Adhesive por ejemplo
perfeito
Excellent video congratulations, it is enough creativity to make a very complex instrument. Two questions;. What dyes do you use to darken the wood? ..and the second question; How did you distribute the space for the fretboard?

That noodling guitar is annoying

I actually enjoyed the guitar music.
It is really a work of art . I enjoyed every moment of it . I am really motivated to build one for my grandson.
Pretty sick
Sir Great build video and the music was easy to listen to. What was the peace of cord you put under the bridge and does it serve a purpose? It was disappointing to end so quickly. I'm going to look up the CDs. Thanks for a great build and introduction to some cool new sounds.
Great looking guitar case . can you please give the size and dimensions.
Finish off with Stars and Stripes forever .
Fantastic results! I plan to build my own HSC as well... someday!
a material list and order site of hardware would sure help. js
I am a musician, but I could only stomach about 2 minutes of the music, and I had to close the video. The music not only does not fit woodworking, but is annoying. If you want to be a star and make a music video, then do it. But "how-to" videos do not require music. It only distracts from the project, and sometimes is too loud over voice explanations. Sorry, just being honest.
You are fake luthier
Ouch 😣 mean
I match that and raise the bet with my knotty pine coffin case with a home made steam punk handle.
Well yeah, building a lap steel guitar is easy when you have a shop filled with $100.000.00 worth of power tools !
No kidding!!
Don't be a hater! Doesn't matter how much expensive equipment you have, you still have to have smarts and skills to pull off a quality build. So no it;'s not easy..........
@@billreppa1928 Who's being a HATER, where did you get that BS, all I'm saying is if you don't have decent tools your going to end up with a junk build even if it works !
Good job 👍
Great videos and beautiful guitar, but why no shielding?
beautiful
Beautifully made by you sir . Do you sell lap guitar?
cool what did u use 3 3x6 planks
what kind of cloth did you used? what's the name of this cloth?
Shoreline guitars replied to someone else that it's a vinyl-like cloth from Mojotone.
Looking forward to part 2!
Get rid of the God awful mellow dramatic music, think about your camera position, as I wanted more detailed angles of the case makong rather than looking at your arse/hip & shoulders blocking the view and giving some narration would have suited the video better.
Hei bro...can u draw the size...for ex the radius fret/fret nut/nut
Where did you get the hardware from?
I am quite interested in seeing more, but I see this was uploaded many months ago - will there be more videos in this series to come?
What song?
My family and I enjoyed the music! Mom's a classical musician and I used to be in school. Lovely build so far! Liked and subscribed- haven't finished watching yet though :) Keep up the good work! Lots of room in the world for high attention to detail
