Bed making is a way of preparing an appropriate neat and clean bed for patients in hospital, adopting scientific principles of nursing and depending on the patients' condition. Skilful bed making promotes patient comfort. Nurses should know to prepare hospital beds in different ways for specific purposes. Mostly, beds are made after a patient receives certain care and when beds are unoccupied. Sometimes, nurses need to make an occupied bed or prepare an anaesthetic, postoperative, or surgical bed for a patient who is having surgery.
