They were my favorite team growing up and Rose was my favorite player. I believe the 76 all star team had 7 reds players in the starting lineup if I’m not mistaken. The 1975 Reds used a total of 12 pitchers....for the entire season. And one of those pitchers only pitched 2 innings during the season. So they essentially made it through the entire season with 11 pitchers. One of the underappreciated aspects of this great team was Sparky's handling of the pitching staff. Nowadays, teams can't make it through a week with less than 13 pitchers.

They were aptly named. They reminded me of a machine. They were definition of professionalism. They all had those cool, yet determined persona’s. They only one who wasn’t like that was their leader - Pete Rose. Rose was determined, but had more of a flamboyant personality and playing style. Though he was similar, as he brought his all to every game. His career was one big head first slide! Without Rose they would have been remembered similarly to the Atlanta Braves. A dominant team that fell short of being a dynasty. With Rose they won 2 championships and made it to 4 World Series and where basically a second-tier dynasty, just bellow the Oakland A’s in the 70’s.
