Colonoscopy VLOG: Come Prep With Me!
I share my colonoscopy prep tips and VLOG my day as I go through the dreaded purge! Although I get annual colonoscopies and would consider myself experienced, this was my first time having the procedure/doing prep with a seton in place. I was nervous it would result in more soreness, but there really was no marked difference for me. We recently installed a bidet and I think that helped a lot! The procedure went very smoothly and I will be sharing updates/results soon!
I wont lie to you, colonoscopy prep is never fun, but if you have experienced any changes in your bowel symptoms or are living with IBD, please make sure to schedule your colonoscopies - it can save your life!!

    Hey Chanel 😀, I really loved hearing your story. You are a strong-minded woman, and I was diagnosed with colitis at the age of 17. Now I am 23, I work out daily, and I can eat pretty much anything. I am on no medication; I only take an iron supplement, a multivitamin, and vitamin D3. My first exposure to healing colitis was when I watched Kenny Honnas' video, where he shows how he cured colitis. It inspired me. He also has a 10-part boot camp series. I tried incorporating kefir, fermented veggies, a blueberry smoothie with L-glutamine, an adequate amount of protein, and fiber daily, especially soluble fiber. I have a blueberry, banana smoothie with kefir every morning. For the rest of the day, I try to have a probiotic like kefir or fermented veggies with some prebiotic, which could be a fruit and rest of my meal, I eat pretty much anything. If you have a bad flare-up, try to keep it simple with kefir, boiled squash, chicken, fermented veggies, bone broth, and vegetable soup. You could also check out Mr. Jordan Rubin, who was diagnosed with Crohn's and has been living a healthy life. He's also the author of several books, especially on how to beat Crohn's and colitis. Keep trying and making adjustments, and I pray from the bottom of my heart that you stay healthy. Thank you, Harry

    I once asked my gastroenterologist if he ever prescribed hyperbaric oxygen treatments to his patients. My gastroenterologist said that sometimes he prescribes hyperbaric oxygen treatments to Chrohn's patients who have fistulas. But the results are mixed and often disappointing. -I tried 12 hyperbaric oxygen treatments during a recent ulcerative colitis flare. The treatments reduced my symptoms, but they didn't get me out of a flare. (Prednisone pills + mesalamine enemas got me out of the flare.) I bet that combining hyperbaric oxygen treatments with additional medicines could be very helpful. Also, in my case, Inflectra has been fantastic. -I'm glad you're living a good life despite your setbacks!

      @@CCCC-TV Yes, I think you should look into hyperbaric oxygen treatments. 2 atm of pressure is the same pressure as if you're 33 ft under water. Hemoglobin can only absorb so much oxygen. But under 2atm of pressure, oxygen is forced into your blood plasma. This oxygen travels throughout your body and enhances wound healing. In our case, we have wounded colons. -The next time I see my gastroenterologist, I intend to ask him if there are any clinical trials that use hyperbaric oxygen as part of a maintenance protocol. I would eventually like to wean myself off of inflectra because I'm a little concerned about the long term increase in cancer risks. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments, on the other hand, are very safe. Anyway, good luck! Take care!

This morning I ate a light breakfast of plain toast, one egg, and black coffee with sugar. All days I’ve been drinking water, apple juice, and bone broth. Make sure you have enough unless you can send someone to the store. I also ate gummies (yellow and green) and ginger chews from Trader Joe’s. I mixed my prep with electrolyte water. Nothing flavored in case I didn’t like it. I chase each cold glass of prep with apple juice. I have no cramping at all and I have IBS so I was terrified of that. Thanks so much for posting this! Could you maybe explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    • @CCCC-TV
      @CCCC-TV 6 месяцев назад

      Absolutely! That part is actually my favorite if i'm being honest lol! The anesthesiologist will come introduce themselves and speak with you before they take you into the procedure room and give you a run down. Hopefully you'll get someone who is nice and personable. You'll have had an IV placed (thats where the propofol/fentanyl gets pumped into), and once in the room, they'll have you lay on your side. At that point you're basically looking right at the anesthesiologist and their equipment. Every doctor is different therefore my experiences going under have been different. I love when they make it "fun" and have you count down from 10 or see how long you can try to stay awake before you get sleepy. Even if the Dr doesnt vocalize this, I try to make it a game in my head (spoiler alert - you lose every time!) This last time specifically I remarked, "oh I can already feel something happening" as I began to get tingly then I was instantly out. Don't worry about coming out of it or staying awake, that's why the anesthesiologist is there the whole time to monitor you and make sure that you dont wake up. You'll usually either start to feel a cold or tingly sensation coming through the IV, then lights out. I would imagine that the more it scares you, the scarier the experience will be. I've been doing these since I was 7 years old, so I have learned not to fear it and just enjoy the lovely little nap you get out of it and look forward to waking up and eating! Hope this helps! xx

    Girl, this randomly popped on my main page. I am on entyvio. Love it. Been on it since 2016 and have not had a flare since then. I also do the miralax prep. Was given golytely at the start and i threw up twice. Mine are every 3 years. I like drinking my miralax with apple juice. Also what I have learned is keep up your protein. Last prep i mixed bone broth with regular broth (because drinking bone broth alone is too much for me). And then I found these protein gatorades that have a clear flavor. I also put two scoops of collagen in my hot tea. So all of that kept me pretty full last time. Of course along with jello and popsicles to trick myself into thinking im eating food. Didnt have any issues with my colonoscopy. Oh also about colors, I guess it depends. of course no red but some times they also tell me no blue or purple, which of course limits it more. Of course red is my favorite flavors. ooh also, I recommend A&d ointment,. and start putting it on before you start needing it. I told my mom and she didnt use it until it started being sore.. and she regrets that.

      @@CCCC-TV does your fistula occasionally bleed a lot (like a lot) during bowel movements? I recently had a lot of blood pour out of my fistula/seton and it looked like a crime scene. • @CCCC-TV
      @CCCC-TV 6 месяцев назад

      I've had crime scene levels of blood often in my 23 years living with colitis (before being on Entyvio), but since developing the fistula there has only been one time where there was significant blood coming from it. It seemed to be related to stress, as I had experienced a very emotionally distressing day and the day following I was seeing a lot of blood. My disease manifests heavily with stress, so therapy has been very helpful for me! I also tend to see some blood on the gauze after days where I am more physically active than normal. Hopefully you were able to discuss with your CRS or GI regarding the blood. Unfortunately the ER doctors tend to not specialize in IBD so if they see a normal blood test and labs they don't have much more to go off of when there could still be an underlying problem.
