First of all if you're using a12mm wrench some body changed the bolt.secondly if you said a spanner wrench that's not one .youtubers.wheres your hammer?
Please tell me, when rotating the crank to achieve top dead centre, your numbers read 1, F, then T. In another video on the same process, the number 1 appears above the T. Any reason for this and it affect this procedure? Many thanks
Definitely for advanced users only! One mistake and it's big problems.
Just going through this process on mine, thanks for posting😃
just manged to get hold of one to get my traveller sorted,as the pugs are black, the kit is a bit thin on the ground to source ,so hopefully il be able to get my carb sorted and nice clean plugs again.
Any torque specs for those or are they just "tight"?
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I will do my bike belts soon. Thanks
This is one of the best DIY instructional videos I’ve seen. Thank you so much 🤙
When is he going to explain at when to replace the main chain ? How to measure how much stretched/worn out it is ?
@@bustjanzupan1074 nobody should have to explain when to change or how to measure a stretched chain on a motor that is being rebuilt. If you’re rebuilding you should be replacing the chain regardless.. catch up man
@@JerseyArtform Yes, i agree, but my costumer is not such opinion, he even does not want 2 change the old worn main bearings on the crankshaft .
Looks like you’ve done this a few times,
I wish I could "Splash Paint" the way you do.
Be interested to know what sort of bike stand you use for this job please?
sweet, this is exactly where I'm at. I was just thinkin, how the hell am I gonna get the case back over those pistons :)
Goood 🛠️🛠️🛠️⚙️⚙️🪛🔩🔧🔨⚒️❤
Absolutely superb video - and nice Ltd GL1000! Looking at getting one of these myself and this will probably be one of my first jobs!
DAMN ... where's that great music?!
It destroyed my concentration sooo much, that it ended in a recycling bin.
日本でも旧車のレストアは大流行りですがなんせもう部品というものがありません海外では古いバイクでもジャンクヤードに行けばたくさん残っているみたいです専門業者もたくさんありやっても綺麗に出るみたいです。
I did this on my 1100 it works 100%
Your engine obviously need to be rebuilt for some reason , but quite low KMs what was the issue. Cheers ,Great job mines done 24,000 km now .
"CRICKEY" , Im glad mine still runs good . 😆
Wonder how many miles it had on it
Mate such great work. What country are you in?
Great video! You're inspiring me to do mine! The torque values to the bolts would have been nice to see on the screen though, without having to go back and forth referencing them buried in the manual. What rebuild/gasket set did you use, and did you find the O-ring for the oil pump face was the right size? About how long did this rebuild take start to finish, and do you have a video of you splitting the cases? And just curious, but what brand of torque wrench did you use?
What the dimensions on those wooden blocks you used im having trouble getting the pistons to stay level
Thank god for the mute button.
Man, .I am fascinated by the way you work on this engine. It seems you worked on more than 1000 goldwing engine. Sorry. My English is broken 🙈
Is it the same for the 1100?
Except for the music great vid. Got me through.
Hello I know this video was quite awhile ago. But I would like to ask you where did you source your main and rod bearings from they are no longer available from Honda.
So, on partzilla it shows 4 different belts. Which ones do you use??? I have a 79 that is sptting fuel out of the left side and still getting spark...looks like a belt jumped a tooth or two.
Thanks for exclent clip.
По моему это тот случай, когда голова рукам покоя не даёт.
Hello , great video. Looking to do my 1986 honda goldwing , 1200A, aspencade. Water pump is a gasket t Ring , you mention to replace that ring ? Just gathering my tools and waiting on parts to come in . But didnt get the ring , but ill order it today .
Merci, je vais bientôt le faire sur ma moto.Thank you, I will soon be doing it on my motorbike
Great video. Thanks man.
Wow! Really beautiful work. Throughly enjoyed watching! Thanks.

Excellent video. Thank you. I'm getting ready to do my '82 Interstate GL1100. Looks amazingly similar. I'll keep you posted to outcome. Mind telling me the musical artist? Love that too - made me laugh.
Respect 💪🙆
Thanks for the nice video! Is it interference engine? Do pistons have holes for valves?
Yes. Interference type. Break a belt and it's all over......
Please help me, i have two motorcycle. The first has 10mm spark plug and the other has 12mm spark plug. What colortune can i use and what adaptor. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Greece.
Hi were did you buy all the parts from and piston and rings and seals and gaskets please share if you will thanks.
Mostly from David Silver Spares and CMSNL in the Netherlands. I have found Vesrah gasket sets to be very very good.
@@mauricegardiner6910 ok thanks got numbers for both of them or web site thanks.
Hi Maurice excuse me for my poor english Firstable thanks for sharing your knowlege This vidéo really help me But i m looking for this song of ted koops And it s impossible for me to find it Can you please show me a link for this song and this artist I just love this song and i don t know why See you in France yiu will be welcome
hello Karim. ted koops was an independent singer song writer in a small town on the east coast of Tasmania back in the 90's ( i'm not making this up ) i only ever had the one cd of his. sorry. ps i am a big fan of Wasis Diop. a frenchman from Senegal i believe..
Hey Maurice, thanks heaps for doing this video. It was extremely helpful. A friend and I did a tag team on my 76 GL1000 yesterday. It was great to be able to follow your video step by step to get a nd end up with a great result. I was also horrified to discover someone had previously failed to reinstall the plates that go in behind the tensioners, so I fabricated some out of a piece of 2mm polycarbonate, Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to make the video.
Would this be almost the same for a 79?
I would think so. Main differences in 79 were No kick start and different carbs. As far as I know.
THANK YOU!!!
Excellent series of videos, thank you very much Maurice 👏 👏.
This is a fantic tool for tuning carburetor. I just wanted to know that is this tool for any type of motorcycle or just for some particular model? I am from Bangladesh and here we have only 160cc limit. So can we use this tool to tune like 100cc 125cc or 150cc motorcycle? Thank You
yes,any motorcycle or small engine. ideal for single cylinder.
@@mauricegardiner6910 Thank you so much for your quick reply.
thank you so much for this video sir.
How long did this take from removing the radiator to completion?
37 minutes.
Why didn't Honda use a chain on these bikes. Did you check the shop price for doing that type of work, I bet it would be more than the value of the bike. If you are going to require a belt at least use a non interference engine.
do you mean timing chain ? noise maybe? i don't know.... do you mean pay a mechanic to change the belts ? what on earth for ? you see how easy it is ... a belt as opposed to a chain on an interference engine ? dunno mate. write an angry email to Honda.
@@mauricegardiner6910 Easy is subjective but yeah, if you are gonna have a belt at least have a non interference engine. Great work though. At least honda made the timing marks very clear and I like you idea of spinning it around slow before you button it back up.
