This is a 1938 Zenith Chairside radio, with a 12-tube chassis installed in it. Unfortunately this was filmed before I got my tripod. It's a nice performing radio, despite not being completely original.

This is a quick repair/recap of a Crosley D25 "dashboard" radio. I will need to circle back and repair the speaker, but the set now plays well otherwise.

c.1938 Air King 914 Antique Radio Repair
Просмотров 53611 месяцев назад
This is a slightly unusual Air King, I believe a 1938 model. It was a fairly quick repair. The one thing I left out was rewiring the AC line on the set to be "safer" since this is a hot chassis design.

1967 Lafayette LR300 Tube Stereo Receiver Restoration
I have an apparently pretty rare Delco R1119 Console set that has been dead for decades , Like your set mine also shares the R-149 Chassis with the Stewart and Warner 1495 set , Mine is also Basically dead , the power supply is working , the amplifier works , Both Speakers test good , However the Oscillator does not appear to be working in my set either , Mine also uses a 6A8, Mine does use a 5v4 Rectifier , I also noted some differences between the Delco Schematic and the Stewart Warner Schematic of the same R-149 Chassis , I got Lots of Work to do here yet Mine has been really hacked up over the years , Mine has Parts from the 50s-60s , some idiot had left the filaments disconnected on both the 6l6 output tubes , they had soldiered a solid wire in place of the Fuse , Apparently the power supply is pretty robust because it still working , it needs a recap job , when I was testing the Power supply I reinstalled the 5v4 just to see what would happen but its got to many shorted Bypass Caps as resistors got hot and started smoking ,... Lesson Learned Time to get serious and get some new caps and find my supply of resistors, Dig out the old Signal Generator and see if I can Actually Make this thing sing again , Like you its the Dial that I like Mine is basically Like yours only with More Bands on it
BEAUTIFUL.....Great radio...Would love to own this one!
Where did you get that clear shrink wrap?
Thank you for showing your "Quality Radio Belts" resource. I needed and ordered the exact belt you have there. Excellent job overall on the Airline.
Nice job on the radio. I grew up in New Jersey, just a few miles from the transmitter sites of WCBS, WOR, WMCA, WINS, WLIB I could see the tower lights from my bedroom window. And I was not far from WABC 77. I was a sad day when WABC went the way of the dinosaurs and likewise, now, WCBS.
That was a lot of extra work undoing the crappy rework of the previous restorer. Boy I hate seeing stuff like that done. Sad to hear that WCBS - AM is gone.
With the exception of the cross-the-line cap and the skipped wax-paper cap the previous tech must have known at least a little bit about what they were doing. My guess is they're a bit inexperienced and assumed the across-the-line was a mica since it has a domino-like-appearance to it. I can kinda see the logic in where/why they went wrong. I wonder if they were also the one who replaced the power trans & speaker...
This is a total "butcher" job! Go for it Adam, or send it to Jim Burns. --- With young people NOT interested in Carpentry, Painting or Farming and other Trades, and only have an interest in Finance or Hi-Tech jobs; this country is in for a rude awakening. Look what happen when the SO CALLED 'pandemic' came along and people went NUTS and hoarded up items that wasn't necessary! What are they going to do when Armageddon comes?
Adam: Who did you say did the restoration work on this radio? Customer: Oh, that was my friend Thomas, he's so handy. Adam: Ok, and what year did his house burn down? Customer: That was about 2 years ag.....Hey how did you know his house burned down?
Just shows that even if you use good quality parts, it doesn't mean the result will be safe or reliable! Definitely better now.
It's amazing how this radio never went up in flames. Nice work by yourself.
We’re is the antenna
At 3:00, those CAPs look original to me. Since this is a tube radio, did you face the foil-side of the paper CAPs facing in the correct orientation? Watch XrayTonyb & Mr. Carlson's Lab why you should do this. It does make a difference! Especially if your trying to keep any stray noise. Did you replace that OLD electrolytic? It's only a matter of time for that to fail.
Did you have my comments deleted? Hahaha!!!! You're in no position to tell these individuals how to conduct repairs. You're just parroting your youtube viewing. What a joke you are.
