best way is to use duolingo to learn kana, anki to learn vocab and genki and youtube for grammar and after you get the basics of grammar, know all of kana and some vocab start studying kanji and expanding vocab via anki and immersion

There's a very real chance I'll be moving to Japan with my wife in the next few years, and it's just as exciting as it is scary. Looking forward to watching your journey and seeing how you adjust to life there. I've heard that the time after the honeymoon period can be pretty rough, but if you can get through that, you should have a pretty happy life there.

Does anyone know of an app or web app that only focuses on listening. Preferably it would say a phrase and you select the image of what they are saying. I don’t want to write read or speak Japanese I just want to be able to listen to podcasts in Japanese I don’t want to spend a single minute in the other aspects until I can listen on a really high level and learning by doing with feedback loops on an app seems like the best way to do this

I began my journey about 2 weeks ago and I'm finding it a bit intimidating. I really want to learn, so I try to keep studying for at least half an hour a day. I use duolingo and I use an audible at the moment

I admit that I have no gift in learning a new language😂. So when I need to understand materials written in multiple languages, I usually use translation machine like Google or Immersive Translate to translate them directly.
