i relate to you not being a fan of supernatural horror i don't know how to explain it but spirits and 'other beings' just aren't scary to me personally. when a movie suddenly pivots and makes out that the villain was an other worldly entity or something, it completely loses my interest.

Lucas is such a great character and a masterclass on friendship. People don’t understand that Caleb’s performance is a largest percentage of that. Could have put Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries in this video. Kat Graham got just as much racism on set as she did off while she CARRIED the show.

My girlfriend and I went and saw this one, and we were so disappointed. It was the writer and director saying to the audience: "Hey, remember that movie you liked in 2008? The one that scared you in 2008? Well...Here it is again! With different actors! Doesn't that scare you...again?" Might as well have set our money on fire and watched it burn, for all the entertainment value we got out of that pile of rubbish. I just recently found your channel, great to see another video. He wasn’t attracted to her and didn’t want to have sex with her but he was so into his own self sabotage that he had to think about her in order to please Teri.

So about the books... yeah i really do not understand why people try to smack others with "but it will be like this in books!" like there is a difference in making content in comparing the books and the shows, maybe making predictions and stuff, and fully spoiling it for someone who does not want to know ALSO both the book author and the showrunners confirmed that they have creative liberty and can make changes, which the author supports. So claiming something will happen this way because of the books is wild to me. Who knows what will get changed and what will not?? As far as I know, having the Pen and Colin romance now is already a change as it was supposed to happen later in the series. They do not follow the books page for page, so why people see the books as some holy text is beyond me. And this extends to all book adaptations, not just this one

I stopped watching as soon as she said the movie takes place in the 1970a or 80s one of those times. The producer took great care to give this movie a 70s feel and the reviewer doesn't know the year.

I can understand him going back to Darren (Darrin?). That was the first person that offered him validation, who gave him hope that he is doing the right thing in following his dreams. It is very hard to let go of that when you are in such a low state. Donny throughout the show was shown to have this desperate need for validation. He became just as obsessed with Martha and she was with him and the same with his abuser. He made great strides in his healing, but it’s truly an uphill battle and there are points where you fall back to things that aren’t good for you.

This was such a great discussion vid!! I just recently watched this series and it was so wild😭 I particularly loved (and hated) the way things ended, being that Donny was seemingly getting his life on track but was also still VERY fixated on his situation with Martha, even after putting her in jail! I thought it would be enough for me to finally hear him admit that he lowkey fed off of all her attention, but to see him still listening to her vms and relying on that fixation to get through each day threw me way off lol. Also agree that him going back to Darrien was more disturbing than reassuring😬 Working w your past abuser can’t possibly end well…

I understand and agree with some of your points. Like, it can be overwhelming to be constantly "bombarded" with so many new releases and feel like we're not even given enough time to sit and properly engage with it before we're forced to move onto the next one bc everyone else already did. It is also a shame that the majority of shows nowadays are limited to 8-10 episodes (13 if you're lucky) which can often be prejudicial to characters developments and force writers to rush plot lines and relationships. There's also a bigger pressure for shows to generate immediate success, otherwise there's a high chance of being cancelled after the first season, which is awful because showrunners tend to use the audiences feedback of S1 to improve the show the next season. Many shows find their identity after season 1, but now barely any gets the chance to. HOWEVER, I think is important to have a variety of different streaming services. There's some shows that are so different/out of the box that many of the big platforms like Disney would've never given them the chance. It also means that shows that aren't necessarily going to bring in millions of views can still be released & watched somewhere. Also, I don't think we should bring back the 20+ eps format. *Having a shorter number of episodes does forces the writers to keep the show focused on what's important.* Back in the days, many shows had so much fluff and unnecessary plot lines simply bc they needed to fill 23 episodes. We just didn't notice it as much bc we weren't binge-watching them and a lot can be forgotten when getting only 1 ep per week. Finally, I don't know exactly why some shows nowadays may take years to produce its following seasons, but *we can't forget that we got a writers strikes that ended only recently, so a lot of shows, like Wednesday, were put on hold.* Overworked writers and production staff members (while being underpaid) was probably the main reason why we got shorter breaks between seasons back in the days too. And there was a writers strike back then too. So yeah, maybe we were well fed but at what cost? I agree that the overall "culture"/fandom engagement surrounding tv shows back then aren't the same as today and I miss it sometimes too. But I also believe that not everything was great and some changes were necessary. Perhaps the solution is to bring back the good parts in a font that's more favourable for the creators/staff. Sorry for the long comment btw! 😊

I really love this one too. It reminds me of an old night gallery episode. I hope they are going to have some sort of companion movie, like not quite like a sequel, but maybe a mockumentary type thing that interviews witnesses and explores what happened and the wider implications of demon summoning.
