The Adventures of Gerald The Frisky Pigeon
A series of odd events I witnessed this week. I don't know if he was practising or if he was just really confused.

An unfortunate Bronzewing Pigeon failing at the basic Pigeon task of landing on something. Sneaky Cat Lurks In My Backyard
Просмотров 5514 дней назад
Something a bit different this time. I randomly checked the bird bath cam late one night and saw these beady eyes shining back at me. So of course I shuffled the footage around to make it look like the cat was randomly appearing in different places and then put some dramatic music over it. Red-Tailed Black Cockatoos Feeding in My Front Yard
Sounds like a 50's 60's UFO battle 😎
The grunts are annoyance you're not picking up the hint they want a treat.
so funny how the song seems to have two parts, and birds assigned to their respective parts
Their corvid cousins, the crows, have 2 different ways to speak also. The loud vocal calls for the entire community and the throaty sounds are for speaking to direct family members.
Better than anything else on the radio
These magpies weren't singing - they were COMPLAINING about the dreadful state of the lawn and garden. I don't blame them!
I'm afraid that one night you're going to be surprised by the mothership coming down to finally take the birds home.
They're just about white enough to be allowed to live in Australia. Don't send the question to the polls whatever you do though.
In our darkest moments a female- shaped stick is all we've got. Let's admit it fellas
Looks like a lead singer with two backup singers.
"We will be bigger than those insects, the beetles" - Magpie 😊
So beautiful. <3
“Allow us to sing you the song of our people.” Beautiful.
what beautiful birbs and such a interesting song they have :) thanks for feedin them. its hard out there these days. i try to do the same for my local birb and squirrel friends
The 'mag' prefix means chatter, and the 'pie' is a reference to the white spots in the plummage, like pied crows. Crows and ravens are already a bit noisy, but magpies are even considered heavy talkers for the family.
I made sure mid-roll ads were turned off for this so it will be a nice peaceful video without interruptions! Enjoy!
What excellent babies! Would feed them so many snacks.
Lovely
That guy.
Sounds like a cross between The Clangers and a police siren
Holy shit these magpies make weird sounds compared to British magpies
Nice, a There Might Be Riots concert. They are even dressed up as Wanderers, and singing their new song about the dangers of weaponized AI drones.
The grunting in the background is the sickest beat my god
I commented that when I was absolutely baked sorry guys IIRC I was about 80% serious, but vaguely aware that I might disagree once I sobered up Upon watching the video again, I'm not really sure what grunting I was talking about. I can hear some grunting in the foreground, mostly toward the end. That's about it.
Fact: ANY animal noise made near a human translates to "give me food"
Beautiful Magpies you have there. We only get narkey, destructive ones in England that our Rooks love to argue with.
Funky lil dudes
This is the sound I wake up to every morning. I have thirty of them living near me.
you know i don't think i ever actually made the connection before but kookaburras really do sound like chickens...
Absolute banger.
it's the focus automatic, doesn't know what is more important, foreground or background twigs/foliage or the fellows in between. Human eyes sometimes work better!
10 points to anyone who can decipher what the Magpie is saying in the thumbnail!
Like and subscribe?
They like you. They are talking to you about something for sure. Learn how they communicate and maybe you can figure out what they are saying to you. I am working on some Montezuma’s mountain quail myself. They are so cute. Very shy though. Magpies are a lot more social. They can be easily tamed sometimes too.
Let me sing you the song of my people...
Which Hills are these adventures taking place in?
This is the Perth hills. I'm pretty lucky, there always seems to be something going on whenever I look outside
@@WildlifeInTheHills I should have known by the ringneck parrot colouration! Hope you guys get some rain soon 👍
Yeah it's interesting how some of the species have these little differences in different parts of the country. Thanks! Would really like to see my yard return to the lush green that it was last year!
Where’s the button for a new swear-word….? Oh wait, here it is ….
Australian magpies sound like glitching soundboards.
❤
True story ❤
sounds like a mothership descending
I had lots of fun with magpies while staying in Melbourne
The grunts sound like they may be a little agitated as Magpies are very territorial.
I had the chance to watch a pair with little one's in Colorado. They would both leave in the morning and come back for lunch. There were also 2 young kitten's after the babies all day long. Some how the cats never had magpie for dinner. They are so neat.
The magpies in Colorado are much different than those in Australia.
They have such odd sci-fi melodies.
My cats loved this
Mine too!
They taught the Bee Gees everything they knew.
WOW! SUCH BEAUTIFUL BIRDS! 🌺🌼🌺🌼 I apologize if I seem ignorant but I've never heard of a Galah bird before. And I know my birds! Where was this video taken? There's no such birds as these where I live.
Galahs are native to Australia and pretty common across most of the continent! They’re super cute. Usually I see them just hanging out in the grass or trees or on power lines, but sometimes you get to see them play around and hang upside down like in the video
@@mackenzief3764 Oh. Thanks for the info! I live in the state of Michigan in the USA. I wish we had the Galah bird here!
How bizar is this...
What a beautiful looking bird such beautiful colours ☺️. There wasn't that much blood. I've seen more blood getting my roast chicken ready on on a Sunday😅. Such a dainty little eater.
These are such beautiful little birds 😍. John Williamson's songs about them are amazing 😍.
My first encounter with a crow was back in Brisbane in 1987😅😂😅. I was walking to work and I was crossing a pedestrian crossing and had a blind spot and walked straight into a pole. Next thing I hear some cheeky sod laughing his head off and I couldn't see anybody around. I realised it was a crow. Well I tell you what.I nearly fell over laughing it was the most craziest thing I'd ever seen and heard in my life ❤️.
