Top of band to the bottom. Mouse wheel for tuning (very convenient).

30 meters demo. The antenna on receiver 1 is a resonate 30 attic dipole and the antenna on receiver 2 is an OCF dipole on my tower. They are perpendicular to each other. The deep fades on the OCF are very noticable if you look closely.

Collins 75S-3B CW Filters Demo

This receiver is outfitted with the stock 2.1 SSB mechanical filter in the USB/LSB position, a Collins 500Hz mechanical filter in CW1 position, and Collins 200Hz crystal filter in the CW 2 position. I tune around a good bit to demonstrate the skirts on the CW filters. Sorry for the shaky camera work with my phone camera.

why not have the rf gain fully open does the agc circuit suck or what?
No its fine. It is fully open, its just the knob doesn't have any effect until its turned a little further counterclockwise.
That radio sounds wonderful. What antenna are you using?
Thank you. For 20-15-10 I use a Mosley 3 element yagi at about 40 feet.
You should have PreAmp 1 turned on - you should be able to see the noise level at the bottom of the SDR display. This isn't well explained in the manual. THE K4 sounds excellent BTW - very nice on the ears.
My dream Cw rig
You should get one! I highly recommend it :-)
@@Jimbo10250 I have heard that from every Cw op that has one. I need to move the flex and focus on one. I’ve always been an elecraft fan. The noise level is just so pleasing
That QRM at 3:45 and 4:16 is exactly the same as my local QRM coming from a few houses away. What is it?
I wish I knew. If you find out let me know!!!
Can the mouse dongle not go in the back?
Yes I'm sure it can. Its just more convenient in the front.
Have you had any issues with your K4?
No sir, it has been rock solid except for a very rare instance where the computer seemed a little confused. A simple power off/on cures that, but as I said it is very rare. And not uncommon with other modern transcievers that have alot of firmware running everything.
QSL disease is spreading.
When I was a kid, back in the late 1950”s, I had a Halicrafters ham receiver that I used to spend hours in front of, just listening. There was actual conversations and discussions going on between the contacts. None of this 5 by 5 BS. Who cares?! You got a contact… talk to them!
Interesting that this operator has the bandscope changed to have the signals 'filled in' which is not standard on the K4d. It has nice audio - even better with some NR.
Thanks. You have the option to fill the signals in with a yellow/gold color, or gray color. I think the yellow/gold is best personally.
How does it compare to the 101?
any comparisons with other rigs ?
Such as?

I just bougth the Elecraft K4 :-) 73 Per HB9GIM
@@Jimbo10250 Well the usual answer would be "Sure, the radio I had before this was 'X'. The K4 is better in the following ways...because of X features/abilities, and worse in the following ways because of..." HTH.
I’m used to a diversity rx switching back and forth seamlessly. This is just two separate rx with two separate speakers blurting out audio simultaneously. Will this radio do an ACTUAL diversity rx? One speakers who’s audio is switched to the strongest signal on the fly.
Agreed. Diversity reception would have synced local oscillators
Why would you bother your ears are doing it for you?
@@pauls8456 If my ears are doing it, why are we calling this a diversity receiver? It's not. If you think filtering this with your ears makes it one, you probably need to go read up on what diversity rx is.
@@piquat1 no offence intended but if you are listening to an audio stream where the signal is derived from two antenna' s placed to reduce the nulls and fading effects of propagation then it would seem to generate the benefits of diversity reception - "a method of radio reception in which the best signal impulse is automatically selected from among those available (such as those produced by several antennas in different locations)"
@@pauls8456 "method of radio reception" but it's not a diversity RXer. Thank you for agreeing with me. Don't call this a diversity RXer when I have to do the diversity in my head. A diversity RXer is a thing and it doesn't include two audio sources in your head.
I had separate speakers but you can have both going to one speaker. Or the main one to an external speaker and sub to internal
Thanks
Thanks for the video. How is the audio set up? Each receiver to a separate speaker? Can you have both receivers into one speaker? 73 Frank WA3RSL
What settings did you use?
Good question. Unfortunately I dont recall now. Sorry.
