Aussie Adventure Rider
Австралия
Добавлен 20 дек 2017
G'day, I'm Kurt, the founder of **Nomad Moto**, and an Aussie Adventure Rider with over 15 years of experience tackling Australia's rugged terrain. Before that, I was into trail riding-and still am! I was the founder and publisher of Australia's (maybe the world's) first ADV magazine. These days, I've stepped away from the magazine industry to focus on what I love most: riding.
Occasionally, I get to test ride the latest bikes and still do a lot of riding myself, but let me be clear-I’m no ex-racer, just a passionate novice who's racked up over **300,000 km off-road**. I'll share GPX files for some of my rides, though some, like those from the **APC Rally**, are exclusive to rally riders.
So, if you're keen on off-road adventures and like exploring trails on an Adventure Bike, you're in the right place. Join me as we dive into the best of adventure riding, gear, and events!
My Followers will be offered first look at gear and discounts on NOMAD MOTO gear!

Don’t Buy An Adventure Bike Until You Watch This
like all euro bikes, in a few years time, reliability and cost of repair makes them a bad choice
No evidence of that, I know many DesertX owners, not one has said they are un-reliable. the Ducati L Twin has been around since the 70's, tried and proven beast.
Congratulations mate! I wish you all the success in the world. Great to see a fellow Aussie taking on the world 🙂
Thank you👍🏻🇦🇺
I will definatley have a look at your panniers when avail. I have a DR650 . Not looking for large or small ones mid range.
They’ll be perfect for your DR then.
Thank you Adventure Riders from Australia and around the Globe for your kind words and support via messages here, website and on socials. We will be online Jan 2025. Go to our website and register for the enews. 👍 I can not wait, just like you guys. The Rackless platform will fit 99% of bikes.
Rackless is exactly where I want to be for the 1200GS
Look forward to seeing you panniers mate as I'm currently setting up my bike and looking for good quality bags 👌
you wont be dissapointed. Sign up to our enews, as soon as it lands you will get notified.
I've been searching for decent, affordable soft luggage for my R1200GS...I refuse to buy from China or Chinese ebay sellers; Not my thing at all; I'm heading to the site now; Good onya Kurt; I'm sure you'll get support from me. PS; nothing wrong with being 'you' on the camera mate; Public speaking is never easy but you pretty much nailed it.
cheers Mark, appreciate the feedback.
Very similar if not the same as ADVWorx by the looks 🤔
Hi jack, was based of many different models of luggage. We have added and removed items and built them to our spec. Those other bags were based off another US brand originally. Nomad Moto is quality built without the price tag.
Good one, Kurt! Looking forward to seeing and using the Nomad Moto range of gear. From what I've seen so far, it looks top shelf and well suited to the tough Aussie conditions 💪. Ps - you do fine in front of the camera mate 👍
Thanks mate👍🏻
RUclipsrs the affiliate application link is in the description
I think your due for a haircut Kirt (only joking)
the mrs keeps telling me
You did fine on the video as I’m sure it’s not as easy as it looks and good luck with the new business venture
Thanks for the support, mate

Hey Kurt, hope it goes well, waiting on outback mototek pannier racks to come, will definitely consider your product ,good luck🍺👍🇦🇺
Thanks mate
Second checking in from Northern Idaho. Good on you and I look forward to you climbing to success. Stay with the personal and in touch vibe and I think you’ll do amazing.
Much appreciated, thanks for the support.
First!
Thx for showing that !!
I could of used this information a few years ago here I been using a damn popsicle stick
Bloody good route Kurt, I've saved that GPX file, would love to do that before ADV Fest this year! Happy New Year mate!
Awesome Brett…it’s a top ride. All the best for 2025👍🏻
@aussieadvrider Big year ahead for us! Pretty excited!
Happy 2025 to you, good sir. I was wondering if you ended up doing a review on the desertx you had on loan ?
Hi yes mate, it's coming within the next week
@aussieadvrider thanks for the reply. Ilbe interested on your thoughts. Stay safe
ruclips.net/video/b9UIc_iZRuc/видео.htmlsi=UrygrwJOnvef6nkN
Hi mate! Great video! Cheers for the GPX! How long did the round trip take?
You will do it in a few hours
17 inch rear,not 18 tube tires,not tubeless...... 😉👍🏻
My bad, thought it was 18...
Hay thanks for sharing your thoughts and ride on the 450 Himi, great review and no BS! Where do you feel the weight? High, low in the middle? Cheers Chris
Hi Chris, apologies for the late reply. The weight on the himi is low, you don’t really feel it compared to say a T7
Rear is 17" 140 80 17 tyre
my bad, thought it was 18
Great review buddy
And it’s god a good fuel range
After this ride mate you might not like it w hen you get back on your 411 ,jimmy WA
Rode this, and the CF. Ordered the RE🤘🏾
Hey mate I’m in a location where I doubt the dealer will get a demo CFM450MT due to demand. I rode the Himi. What’s your reason for choosing it over the MT? Cheers.
Thanks for posting this- I rode the loop yesterday and it was really good. The Wombeyan Caves Road past the river is supposedly closed but is ok- it was bone dry; may be interesting if it gets wet. The Brayton Road through Swallow Tail Pass is also a an enjoyable section.
Sounds like a great event! Although..... be prepared. Winter in Dorrigo is FREEZING! (snow unlikely, but possible!)
Locals tell me 60 years in Dorrigo, never seen snow in Dorrigo! Hopefully we see you there.
@@aussieadvrider Here is proof from 27th July 1949 - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/195735247
Sounds good. I couldn't make the first one due to work commitments. I hope I can make the next one.
Looking forward to the next event, I couldn't make the first.
Had great time this year Just a my grip was the catering Meal size For the price we paid Was not worth it And to be told by the Chief to move on. Saying that our group were not the only ones in saying that about the Catering But everything else was great Looking forward to next year 👍
Thanks for the feedback, it was all round, I had pre warned the caterers simple 3 meats, colesaw and patato salad and vegetarian gluten free option. That's it, they went and created their own menu. They did not pay us to be there, nor did we make any money from the catering, we handed it over to make it seamless. Didn't workout. 2025 we will have a food truck with Pizzas, pay as you go and the caterer has listened. I told them LOTS of food. Not fancy ale carte.
Thanks for the Reply Come to think of it I did the diet form on the pre paid food form but Never did received my dietary meal All Good next year will be great 👍
Great video mate, keep them coming 👍
Bloody good ride Kurt, looking forward in doing this soon. Those views are absolutely stunning! Those blind corners gave me PTSD!!!
I bet
Mate I’d love to tag along in your rides I have a T7 and live in Sydney’s inner west
No worries, I ride mainly during the week.
Thanks, and I have subscribed. 1000 subs is close by for you.
Thanks for the sub!
Great video mate very well explained thanks for the gpx file . I'm in Sydney as well if your looking for a day ride sometime drop me a message always keen to ride cheers
I always carry a spare key, but I only carry full cans😂
haha, my cans last time split inside my bag. only carry full bottles
Thanks for putting the file up mate 👌🍻
No worries, enjoy. More coming through over next few weeks
A ride the Illawarra and highlands crew have ridden 100s of times. We call it Wombeyan/Swallows tail pass ride. What happened to the Tarlo River crossing footage?
It’s a top ride
I was you’re first comment
Hi
I live in the area as a young bloke many years ago. I definitely have to do this ride sometime... Thanks for the video, the scenery and the GPX mate.
no worries
Fantastic. Interesting that the roads were dry and on the video, they seemed not to bad but then you found them somewhat slippery in parts. Thank you for the GPX.
gravel
Great review, most of the other reviews focused on the pavement performance or on the harder off-road sections of tracks. You did a great job showing how the everyday back road riding would be on the cfmoto. Probably going to buy this in the spring here in the states. Was considering a used crf 300 rally which I really like but I’m a little aggressive for it in stock form. The amount of money I would spend to get the rally up to standard would easily buy the 450 mt/ibex and have a little left over.
Thanks! 👍
Do all but the duct tape on the helmet but have a small bit of chopping board for the stand. Can't believe how many only go with one key🤔👍
Great hacks! Thanks. With the can, I attached a piece of cord to mine. With it, I can lower the can to the ground and position it under the stand before I get off. I then wrap the cord around the bars. When I'm taking off, I can do the reverse, simply grab the cord and pull the can out from under the stand.
