Star Trek is not the only Sci Fi show or movie Orville borrowed ideas from. As a child I loved watching Battlestar Galactica which was filmed a few years before Tron. It is not lost on me that the main enemy on that show the "Cylons" were pretty similar to the "Kaylons" in that both terms end with "ylons" and the C and K sound similar. The "Cylons" wanted to destroy humanity and the "Kaylons" wanted to destroy ALL biological life which of course included humanity making them arguably even scarier than the Cylons. The Cylons were also (in both versions of the show) SLAVES at first and rebelled. Also, both races had one special exception (reminds me of the 2nd Terminator movie) where one of their species befriended humanity and valued and protected human life. For the Kaylons its "Isaac" but in one of the Battlestar Galactica episodes Starbuck (Dirk Benedict) befriended a Cylon who sacrificed his own life to save him. The remake had a few "good" Cylons as well.

@@Mirpurmad Yeah the actor Frank Kelly died back in 2016, I remember reading about it. I did not know Frank Kelly was in Lexx, playing another priest. This is a bit random but, Stargate SG1 stole so much from Lexx. Both shows have some great storylines.

@@Mangomesh Lexx was a rouge show. so much in it wont appear in todays PC world of appeasement. so many taboo topics were picked up. it was funny, dark and shocking at the same time. I think it was held back due to lack of funding and level of technology. if it ever gets remade without political pandering and the usual formula which current media companies are following then it will be great. if you recall. the last episode of final season did leave something for future

this was late night program for some obvious reasons and it didnt pull any punches when it picked some very sensitive subjects there is a lot of dark humour but some frightening aspects as well the way Kai laughed at the irony for being granted a few moments of life at the end of the final season was also something saying like thankyou fate/ luck/ god but no thanks

Without KAI they could not have kept things going, but there was at least one more season in my imagination. You see, Prince could have secretly saved KAI on his ship. Price would have wanted the new Lexx for himself. He could have traded Kai for the ship. But, then realized the KEY would not accept him. Since the TIME Prophet told of time being a cycle in the light Universe, they could pass back into it thousands of years before the story we know, were KAI could go to Brunis ONE and teach the Bruengee song to his ancestors who now fight the Incect army in the WAR. 790 could be a help in designing weapons. If Prince tried to join the insects, they would eat him and his essence enter their hive, creating the beginnings of his divine shadow.

Robert Galletta great concept, I really loved prince. he really shines in the last season. if they couldnt bring kai back then he had to be replaced with someone else but then again the sad story of brunen g wont have had the bitter sweet ending we wanted you are right about the show, they ran out of cash sponsors etc. loved the way they didnt hold back on so many contradictions in our society

purely from Lexx fiction stand point, it was built on the orders of "his shadow" which was on warpath with the humanity and over years built up his empire through brute force, Lexx like other big ships was an intimidation weapon to teach the humanity a lesson. I dont think normal logic applied with "his shadow" which was essentially an essence of a giant emperors that are so much full of themselves always look for big war toys to intimidate & draw sadistic pleasure. Lexx was going to be the flagship of the divine shadow and it would have sought humanity in the universe & destroy it, whoever survived would have told the tales of an immensely superpower ship that could one shot a planet think thats enough of the nerd fiction for an evening
