I have R231 SL500. Someone said as soon as you start car cold drive. Don't sit on tickeover because when running rich as it's cold, lots of fuel going into bore washes oil off bores.

Great video! I haven't had an issue on my R129 that I haven't been able to solve at home (yet...) but I'm glad to know there is someone in Atlanta I can trust that has all of the specialty equipment. It's absurd to me that 8 years is considered too old to bother with. I fear a modern Mercedes is turning into something you just lease and throw away every few years, like a smartphone :(

The dealers do t want to work on the older cars but want to buy your car when you come by for parts. Hahaha

So I never paid much attention to Mercedes as a car obsessed kid growing up in the 1990's. To be honest I thought they were just boring and staid looking cars for stuffy old rich people to drive as a status symbol. I was much more interested in domestic muscle cars, exotics and such. Now when the 203/211/220 era cars came out I thought they were gorgeous, they caught my eye for sure, but I figured they were still just flashy luxury cars and nothing more. Then I took a ride in a 2003 S55 Kompressor. Needless to say my opinion of Mercedes changed after that. That car felt like it had about 10x more speed, luxury, and style, and 100x more tech than anything else I'd rode in before. With a 500hp engine under the hood suddenly a Mercedes luxury car was a lot more appealing.... 😁

IS the 220D still available?

I remember as a kid being 9 or 10 years old when this came out. Such a technological and mechanical work of art, my field of study is IT so the computers everywhere is actually a plus! The control you have over this car is insane with a computer/scan tool.

In the used car market the values went too low and these fell in the hands of the “wrong” type of people and a lot of young people who had no business in an S-class. They ran them into the ground and the 220’s reputation went downhill. They are excellent and the M113 is fantastic.

I was never a fan of the W220 it wasn't a bad car in hindsight but it was definitely the start of Mercedes-Benz we see today.

I never understood the hate for the W220. It’s the only S-Class with the bulletproof M113.

What models do you own for your personal cars…. I am I. Love with the cl55 amp love that supercharger.. obviously the latest model before the change to the N.A. 6.2 or I also love the 2013-CL63 by turbo… if you were to pick between the sec gen CL would you go N.A 6.2 or later bi turbo?

I have a 2003 C32 for sale in Auto trader and craigs list Fresno that has the same issue with the cluster odometer, I found the original cluster was broken and would not turn on the check engine light. So i sent the cluster out to a company who specializes in this type of issue and they cloned the cluster to a new used cluster however once I received the good cluster back I found after a few seconds the cluster will show the dashes. It does however show milage before the cluster shows the dashes. The vehicle is running but will not pass smog and due to a work place accident i can no longer work on the vehicle. I also have another 2003 C32 AMG that I have had over 12 yrs that runs and is garage kept that I have done a lot to like a Killer chiller heat exchanger, VRP short header, Needswings air intake and an ECU tune. Had got the other vehicle I am now sell in 2020 as a project but had accident 2022.

Cool truck, I live in Hawai'i where lifted Toyota trucks are the official state vehicle. Lots of these older ones still cruising around here, some fully restored and customized, some that never get a wash and look just like this one 😂 🤙
