This is where I log most of my dirt bike rides so I can look back with nostalgia at a later date, if you like it that's cool, but it's mostly for myself.
The bike I'm riding now is a 1989 KDX200 which is super old but still very fun and not a KTM product, which anyone with a bunch of money can go out and buy, boring.
Other than that it's pretty random content but mostly automotive of some sort.
Thanks for watching!

Riding Dudbob Trail With Friends On a Hot Summer Day
I tried this trail a couple of years ago on my CRF250F and didn't make it very far due to my lack of skill. And because of that I've avoided going back, but I'm glad I finally did because it is a super fun trail! It felt good to get back and overcome the fear. Hopefully you guys can check this one out sometime. If you do make sure to ride from west to east, that id the way it's intended to be ridden.
Other riders are Mark (Beta X-trainer) and Mike (KTM 250XCW).

I took my son to his first PPIHC! It was a great day, perfect weather which very unexpected. I'm not sure what happened but there were about 12 red flags, it was brutal. The race didn't end until after 4pm which was ridiculous. The last two cars didn't even run. Until next year!

This was a really fun ride on my buddy Ty's private ranch. Riding through those canyons felt very Moabish, we came across three fairly recent mountain lion kills as well, hence the name of the video.

Jeff - 300XCW Randy - 150XCW Jeff - KDX220 Eric - KDX200 (me) Memorial Day 2024, we got in about 25 miles of singletrack, the most I've done with the KDX since the rebuild/fork swap. The bike did great, and it was really fun riding with this group, I'm looking forward to more adventures with them in the future.

I get absolutely smoked by a bunch of vets in my first ever race. Good times in Colorado Springs. I'm placed 8th out of 9! Lol... but I was happy to finish without a crash or any injuries. The course was really fun, except I have PTSD about hitting jumps from crashing pretty hard on one a few years back at our local track. Some day I'd love to do a proper woods hare scramble, but for now I'm pr...

I was supposed to do my first race ever, but it got canceled after the track became unrideable from heavy rains that rolled through the morning of the race. Shout out to all the cool people I met, it was a great crowd with the Rocky Mountain Vintage Motocross Club. Special thanks to Dan and Dori for taking pity on me and housing me in their camper for the afternoon.

Fun times with Mark and his X-Trainer, this was the first trail ride for me since October 2023 after almost rebuilding the whole bike. I thought I was up for this trail but I learned my cardio has taken a hit over the winter, it was a little much but still fun to do. The engine has quite a punch now and just sounds really good. I'm really liking the new fork setup as well, my DIY valve job feel...

So what was the video about 🤔 just you riding behind the beta, nothing was shown here no testing no nothing, sorry but this was a waste of time
@perrygibbons1816 Next time you think about saying something like that to me I want you to remember one thing I know the guy that created google maps and I can locate you in the time it took me to type all of this up. Dont want anymore problems? I didnt think so......
Wow, that trail has alot of technical spots. The beautiful scenery has to take second priority to making sure you get passed the next turn and rock outcrop. Way to ride!
@jamestaylor7746 thanks!
Beautiful scenery where you're riding. I'm so jealous! 🥲 Where I am in Florida, there aren't very many places left to ride due to the building boom and population growth here post covid. My ride is a 1984 kdx200 with updated "H" series disc brake front end and a Keihin PWK35 carb that i picked up for $900 (running) about 2 years ago. I've been working to restore and improve her as much as I can. Thank you for posting your riding adventures. Please keep the excellent videos coming! 👍🎶👂💪🙂
Thanks, hopefully you get to come ride out west sometime, we are lucky to have a lot of trails.
Awesome!
Rocks is my life in this state... After you got to Hancock pass what was that road? Was that just the other side of Hancock? What pass did the video end at where there was no sign?
@flagkennyrider the end of the video was just going back the way I started to Tomichi Pass.
Front brake line is going to get you in trouble 😮
Yee Haw!
Love it.
And when will they invent a camera that shows hill steepness
@@jasonmeyers5849 if you know, you know.
"Mixing gas and hauling ass" lol
How do you like the tusk bars?
@Pdpawlak they're great so far, I've had a few drops and they've held up strong.
"That was dumb" It happens, lol! Those are some awesome trails. I wish we had better single tracks in NC. Most everything here is rutted beyond riding in most places. Be safe out there!
@ewokvillagefarm8443 Yeah man I try to appreciate what we have here.
That looks so fun.
@@NoahBoshard It was pretty damn fun!

Looks like a cool area to ride!
@GATOROC1 Yeah pretty chill for CO singletrack.
Just put a huge dent in my '23 CRF250F's frame, wish I had already put a bigger skid on!
Rob's RX-7 is what I came to see btw, and that was two check marks off of my bucket list. See PPIHC in person, and meet Rob Dahm.
I made the decision that this year was the year I was gonna go. I'd been through the mountains like 20 years ago, so I wasn't sure about altitude. That and whole not being able to leave, I ended up getting tickets for me and my dad. We flew into Denver Friday, flew out Sunday. It was awesome to see, I think I'll save my money and watch it live next year online. I'll be bringing my kid to his first Rally event in late August, and that's about the same as watching at the turn one spectator area.
Really glad Rob made it to the top, with all the red flags I was scared, especially when the radio station started speculating that car #146 had a failure (it was the polo they just assumed)
Look mom I’m on TV!
I kept this video on my mind when buttoning up my 1990 project, my cylinder is also sleeved. When i installed my new wave washer it binded up the center valve. I squished it, to remove some of the wavyness and that fixed my problem. Since yours binds without the washer i kept looking to see what it could possibly be. I noticed the bell shaped part of the valve is very slightly rubbing against the oustide of my sleeve. If it were machined different or the sleeve was any thicker it would certainly bind it up. Maybe your sleeve just needs a little dremeling to gove it clearance. If thats not the problem i could also see it being that one shouldered stud just being too deep and touching the operating rod.
I kept this video in mind while buttoning up my kips on my 1990 restoration. Mine also is sleeved. Everything moved smoothly but i was waiting for a new wave washer ( 92022-1978 ) when i installed the wave washer it added a ton of friction. I guess they come really wavy and i squished it, which solved it. However since yours is stuck without the wave washer i kept checking what it could be. And i noticed the large bel part of the center exhaust valve very very slightly rubs against the outside of the cylinder sleeve. For mine its not enough to bind it. But if it was machined slightly different or my sleeve was thicker it would certainly bind. Maybe you can dremel that spot alottle to give the valve dome more clearance.
I ride out Of Salida ride the rainbow quite often plus the trails Off From youth trail Is great Riding everywhere around here
love the KDX. I have an 89 also. What throttle are you using?
Thanks! It's a NIBBI unit, not sure which one, it came on the bike.
Can you post a link to the kit?
There is no kit, you have to piece it together yourself.
Did you like anything on the KDX it appears you have changed almost everything on it
There's a lot to be upgraded
Just got mine delivered today dame year. Mint bike
I like the headlight, who makes it?
UFO, I'm not running it anymore, wasn't too good.
@@GasSoakedRag thanks
The course seems barely marked at all, not to mention the mud!
Yeah it wasn't marked very good, there were a few spots where I had no idea where to go, lol.
😂😂 bye orange bikes. (I have a kdx and a KTM too lol)
What bar bag is that? Need something like that for my phone
Thrill Seekers
What kind of forks did you put on there I have a KDX 200 1996 and I'm on the upgrade the forks
My guess is the sealed aluminum barrell is being slightly pushed against the toothed operating rod. You could brish some light paint or dye in the aluminum part and tighten it down, see it sny paint transfers to the operating rod, and file down anywhere that may be touching. Im not sure if this is whats happening, ill study it more when i put my 1990 kips back together.
Oh yeah by the way Great job on the video man beautiful bike well done
Thank you
I'm rebuilding a '96 KDX200 right now I can't wait till it's done

Do u like this better than crf250f
Way better. The 250F was ok but not nearly as fun.
Nice to see someone document a rebuild and then immediately rip on it! KDX running awesome 💯
Lol, poor thing, I felt terrible. Hopefully it won't get thrashed like that again.
Been a minute since I've had a nasty mud run...that was THICK!
Wish I had a vintage 2 smoker and knew about this lol
that is some sticky mud! I had a similar experience in New Mexico once. Now I'm far more cautious if the terrain gets muddy. I always wondered why those signs said "road may become impassable when wet". I found out
Man it was awful! Spent $30 at the car wash and it's still dirty haha.
Let’s goooooo! Your refresh turned out awesome!
Thanks! It's been very rewarding to ride again.

Id be afraid of running out of go juice with that tiny tank but its a great trail bike for sure!
Haha "dual sport" is a bit tongue in cheek. 3.2 gallons is plenty for trail riding though.
@@GasSoakedRag oh I didn't know you had a bigger tank , it's a really cool machine.
@@Matthew-wn8oq stock tank
What makes you think it sounds rich. Is that the boggy low sound? This is your first video I watched maybe others explain. I have a 1990 I need to get running.
I think it was just a partially fouled plug, I had left the choke on too long earlier.
@@GasSoakedRag Its amazing to me how subtle things like choke on too long can rich the mixture and foul a plug. Last time I rode KDX I was fouling plugs alot. It has been a decade since it has run, last time I tried it quit and I saw I had bits and pieces of air cleaner left. I guess I sucked it through the motor and burned it up?
@Texasbird026 yeah if its below like 45F it needs the choke to start but like five seconds max, after its started or it'll foul the plug.
Did you find the revalving to be pretty straight forward? I have a set of 48mm KYB's off a 2003 KX125 that im going to swap out on my KDX200. Are you happy with the results?
Yes It was pretty easy, you just have to pay attention to what you're doing. I love the new set up.
What state are you in?
CO
Sweet!
