I lived in Seattle from 1992-98; while in my twenties. I waited tables in high-end restaurants in downtown Seattle. Most of the wait staff and kitchen staff were deep in the Grunge scene. I was NOT into Grunge music. I was listening to Jazz and NYC style trip-hip-hop at the time. One super cool waitress I worked with also worked as a booking agent for the Crocodile Cafe in downtown Seattle. Me and my wife at the time, got invited to shows where many of the grunge rockstars were either playing or attending. I met Kurt Cobain at the Off Ramp a night Hole was playing. Met the bass player and rhythm guitarist for Pearl Jam. I met Layne Staley at a party. One night when Pearl Jam was rumored to be playing at the Crocodile Cafe, Chris Cornell was there. I stood a foot or two next to him and we made eye contact. The intensity in his eyes. His presence. Fucking amazing.

Sitting drunk with my brother around a campfire, 2 hours from home. No one sings like you anymore. RIP

Where did this version come from? Is there an album with his acoustic work? To me this guy was the best singer of his generation.

Im a amateur bird photographer, yesterday morning i was taking photos and got some beautiful pictures of a young red headed woodpecker. Later that evening during my walk there was that beautiful bird laying on the ground mortality wounded and suffering. I've never killed any animals intentionally and didn't know what do. I immediately thought of this song and found a brick. 😢

So blessed to be an 18 year old young man when this song was released on "The Trip 4" compilation album. So powerful emotional and resignating . I shed a tear every time I hear this song. Chris is and always will be my musical god! For me personally nobody can touch this man lyrically. Just timeless. Thank you for all the beautiful music you have entrenched in my life

Your rite he did not commit suicide, he actually had a heart attack, the FBI fabricated that whole story. I was there when they came in saying he had a heart attack and died, then a month later they put out that it was suicide. Total liars!

I used to live in the dark! I don't anymore! And there's only one reason I can think of that saved me from the dark and brought me into the light, and that answer is God! As I listened to the lyrics of the songs he sings, from once being in the dark myself I can relate for Chris it's too late!
