On the peak we had a wind break with 6 foot walls 40 years ago, i also found petrified clam a couple hundred feet from the top
Guys I love your channel. I just got stationed at Nellis and your channel is such a great resource!
Just saw your vid....thanks for sharing I just got my e-bike and looking for some bike trails to ride and explore beside from my regular bike route away that is close to my house.
What map is that ? Thanks .
All right good stuff love it!! love hiking camping and outdoors activities...
Unfortunately, the Trail Canyon Trail was destroyed by Tropical Storm Hilary last year. It was one of my favorite trails on the mountain. To a local, your video title is a little jarring. I had to come check out whether you were really going to hike from Charleston Peak to the tiny town of Mountain Springs, at the other end of Lovell Canyon, near Potosi Mountain. That would have been a truly epic hike. I was wondering whether you'd hike along the spine of the mountains, or go down into Lovell Canyon. (The second option would have been easier, but far more dangerous because you would have had to pass through a little community of people who do NOT like outsiders. They especially don't like anyone but them traveling along their little 4x4 road that comes down from Mount Charleston. They keep it chained off at the entrance from the canyon.)
DID I HEAR 2WD IS OK? Went straight to this trail with my stock fwd hybrid Maverick. Got through well. There is 1 part early on if your heading southish on cottonwood, it's towards the beginning mor or less. Its inclined with some pretty hefty rocks I found to be the most nerve-wracking. I'm sure any midsize or full size truck would have 0 insecurities. Even a maverick tremor would be better suited. Lots of fun, couldn't have found it without you, THANKS!!! @AUSTIN AND SAM LAS VEGAS
What camera and lens did you use for this video? 👍
I miss it
Before that lodge caught fire.
This was and still my favorite mountain especially when it’s snowing
Very cool! Desert 🦊🦋
My GF and I hiked to Rain tree last weekend. It was amazing hike!
Thank you! Excellent summary.
Fantastic video! Love the quality, love the vibe, love the energy. I live in Henderson and my family and I will definitely check this out next weekend on our bikes. Thanks for the great recommendation. +1 sub.
Great video, I am a new local to Vegas, looking forward to my own hikes and seeing more of your videos!
Great to the point video. What map are you using?
We use Benchmark Maps, love them and have NV, CA, UT and AZ. Got them all at REI
thanks SamAustin great job
Thanks great job congrats
Hey! Would love to know what you used to film this video? The quality and videography are amazing !
Filmed this with Sony a7s3 and a 24-70 mm lens! Glad you like it!
Took the shorter hike to the Little Falls stream. We are seniors and made it up but it was difficult due to the steep climb. Had hiking pole to help for balance coming back down. Not so easy…..
Did this hike in 2019. Your video was just the way I remember it. Thanks for sharing........
Dispersed camping allowed?
That was biodegradable trash. That’s not littering, is it?
Fruit peels tend to dry up and stay on trail as litter. Biodegrading requires moisture and proper conditions that we don’t see too much in the Southwest US. It’s also a hazard to wild life who don’t have the proper stomachs to handle non native food peels or cores. Good rule for hiking and camping - if it’s not native to the area, take it with you ✌🏽❤️
Nice video; Thanks! I hiked up the South trail, and down the North, in about 1992. What I recall are the wonderful smells; the light sound of breezes blowing gently through the pine needles; the sounds of bees and hummingbirds working nearby; and the magnificent views. I remember that just as we came out of the tree line and onto the rocky final climb to the summit, here comes a guy descending on a bicycle! He told me that he had pedaled practically all the way up, and that he was dreading the descent, with all the jarring he expected to encounter. I remember that the North trail includes a few precipitous spots where you dare not slip and fall - but only a few. Oh, and the temperature was perfect. I cannot remember the time of year, but I believe that Las Vegas was hitting highs around 108. That thirteen-hour hike was one of the highlights of my life! I would so love to do it again, but I'm 75 now, so no. But boy, what a memory!
What a memory! So well said, hope the video captures it how you remember the trail!
Late to see this but still useful. I'm at Brian Head as I type this. Coverage is still good and, as mentioned, quick, short runs but this type is easier on my old legs, maximum half day. Saturday tic was $39, super cheap and we got $10 resort cash for food which got us a $14 burger and fries for $4. Tomorrow's tic is $29 and I think we still get the $10 credit (still waiting to see). Lodging is cheap this late in the season too, about half of what our usual trip to Mammoth would be this time of year. Screw Mammoth with their outrageous prices and taxes on top of taxes. We'll be back to BH.
Absolutely amazing nice sound. Guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak. Add this sound in your bucket list. Keep the peak I mentioned to you in future feel himalayan sound. 😋 Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower
Cool video, what program or app do you use to show that map 3d map view?
Nice video and editing...but of course it's bumpy if you only aired down to 26. That seems hardly worth the effort.
Hahah I can see that point of view for sure. At that time we didn’t have a compressor to inflate our tires before the drive home. 26 psi helped smooth it out a bit but 10-15 psi would be much better!
Sweet. Just moved here, can’t wait to try
Hope you enjoy and welcome to Vegas!
Very cool video and I am seriously impressed.
Thank you!
Wow this was an amaziing video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you for the support!
@@austinandsam But where in the Sam Hill is Sam?? see what I did there?
@@jc2604🤣😅 every time Sam and I get out we’ve been focusing on instagram content but the goal is to get to a consistent posting schedule here on RUclips, with Sam of course! Last few years we’ve been slowly building but we’re just getting warmed up. These last two videos I just so happened to get out on a boys trip 😆
I tried hiking up there a few times, but 8k+ proved to difficult for me. A lifetime at sea level and subpar genetics has restricted my adventures to 4k-
Haha at least theres plenty to explore below 4000 feet elevation!
Calico falls is awesome for swimming and chilling
I find eagle to be alot less packed. And more pow on the groomers.
Watched all your videos! Excited to see an upload! As a local for 10 years, appreciate your videos of what's out there besides the strip.
All I could think about was the fear of rattlesnakes in the old, burnt out car & inside the buildings
Wheeler Pass isn't for people who don't want to scratch their $60k Jeeps. It's for folks who bought a $60k Jeep for it's purpose, off-raoding. The week I bought my GC Trailhawk I went up Wheeler just so I could be the first to scratch it up, before someone else in a parking lot or the dogs did. A trail thats fun but nerve racking is Carpenters Canyon. Never again lol.
Isn't that for dirt bikes and such?
You live here but don’t know how to pronounce Potosi. 🙁
You forgot to hit Sunrise Resort...Little further than Snow Bowl but worth it.
Lee Canyon is my home mountain and I worked there as my first job as a Lift Operator. Then I moved to Brianhead and lived up at the ski area and taught skiing and snowboarding working for Mark Wilder Then I became the ski school manager for the kid's side at Eagle Point then called Elk Meadows.. But..My favorite to ride is the Arizona Snow Bowl.
Did you have to get a permit to fly your drone?
No permit required for red rock! Just fly responsibly!
Check out the River Mountain Loop ( around 35miles in length).
I second that. The best part of the loop is that it connects to the Wash, so from their starting point it would be about a little over 50 miles loop. They could also use the loop to connect to the Union Pacific Railroad Bike trail in Henderson, or stop half half way through the loop and go to Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City
@@Acrowatz A lot of bicycle riders simply ride for enjoyment or leisure meaning, short distance rides. Those who are actually seeking a good physical work out (burning calories, improving their food intake, to defining their body) they are the ones who desire to do more lengthy rides. Cycling, besides swimming, is one of the safest sports (does the least in wear and tear on the human body) to do. Running/Jogging, all that jarring on the knees, tennis; well look at what becomes of the professionals. Also the consumers who fail to comprehend being fitted to even purchasing the right kind of bicycle is where they are lacking in; knowledge (which also derives from research). Back in 2007-2008 I worked for a Bicycle Corporation. My summary of the purchasing consumers? I believe a lot of them are simply buying retail due to TRENDS. My latest gig in reference to the Cycling Industry; Bike Touring, I even would not mind Bike Packing adventures, but I have two dogs to bring with me. I can do this with hard packed fire roads, pavement, bike paths, to asphalt with my dogs. (Not unless someone comes up with a better product in carrying a medium sized dog other than using a pet trailer) that would handle being able to ride on back country trails.
Which mountain is easier to drive up , road conditions. We come from flat florida. Im terrified of mountain driving ?
Brian Head, Lee Canyon and Snowbowl are all pretty simple roads with no crazy cliff exposures. 4x4 or chains will be required though, including Lee Canyon. We see people try to drive up to the mountains every year and get stuck without chains!
@@austinandsamwe rented a 4x4 not planning to adventure just driving to the ski place. Would snow chains needed if it snows ?
@@dionymartinez1634 it depends on the tires. If Lee Canyon gets heavy snow, they require 4x4 with snow tires OR tire chains. Sam and I have driven up to Lee Canyon to board after major storms with our mud tires and never had an issue but our tires are pretty beefy. Keep in mind there is only a handful of days, right after a huge snow dump, that this applies. If you drive up after a mild dusting or a day after a major storm, 4x4 should be just fine because road crews do a great job at clearing the snow.
Thanks !! You been very helpful, I appreciate it.
Great video. Snowbowl is my home mountain, and I also enjoy BH.
Should have thrown Mammoth 🦣 in the mix, but Brian Head & Lee Canyon are great, haven't been to Snowbowl but Flagstaff is an amazing place.
Man I just don’t like the drive from Vegas to Mammoth haha that two lane highway for hours is nerve racking the whole way 😂 def hit Snowbowl this season if you haven’t 🤘🏽
I was just up Mormon Wells a month ago, road was great, no effects from the heavy rains. Been up there 3 times in the last year.
The desert is so peaceful. I do some camping along the Eastern Sierra route. That area looks really nice. Only problem is Las Vegas.
Good bass fishing
That White House was Siegfried and Roy’s house. When I was a kid, I use to ride my bmx in front of the house because they had good pavement
I know a lady who rides horseback to the top, to take supplies to park rangers who keep the trails nice.
