The perspective of a New Yorker on what to know before you move to NYC. New York is not an easy place to live but it is an easy place to fall in love with. I wanted to share my experience as someone who grew up here and has lived in NYC for around 3 years now. Germany, Italy & Switzerland | EF Ultimate Break
I've always wanted to watch the fireworks 🎆 in NYC. I need to make it up there one year for sure.
I feel like it’s definitely something you have to do at least once!
I'm very impressed by the editing here.
Thank you! Trying my best to improve each time!
Wishing you success too and thank you, means a lot! My advice here if you want it is to just start going for it and posting, I still feel like I don’t know my niche(s) for sure yet either and overall feel like the only way to figure it out and what works is to actually do it. I spend a lot of time thinking and circling and honestly not sure if it helps at all compared to just posting lol
This is such a cool topic! Think we've all had this thought cross our minds at times. I'm excited to see what cities/places you decide to visit and explore. I've been on a little social media hiatus myself, but I'm glad I caught this one. 😄
Hey stompper great to see you again and thanks! Hope the social media hiatus has been nice and relaxing hahah
Hi Justin I have a couple of questions regarding your trip to Italy with ef. Which days of November did you went to? I am concerning that it would be raining when I am taking my trip. Would you recommend going on nov?
Hey Katia! I went right after Thanksgiving and into early Dec. Yeah was definitely a bit rainy for us during that time but wasn’t the entire time, Italy was good but the others not as much. I’m not sure exactly when rainy season starts and ends around there so worth taking a look and maybe shifting a little if you want higher odds of better weather
Hi . Which days of November did you went to?
Hey Katia! I went right after Thanksgiving to early Dec
Sold all of my gear, so im now watching camera videos to cope. There are so many, its soooo hard to pick. Right now the bmcc6kff is 1500, the s5iix is 1600, the fx30 is 1,500, like how so i pick? I like them all. I had the a7iv and sold it too, it just never felt right? Didn’t do video the way i wanted, didn’t do photos, it felt big at times? So i got the zve1 instead and it was dope, but im in Florida and it was over heating every 8 minutes, sooo i loved it, but that was annoying. Then i got gifted a bmppcc6k1gen and i couldn’t deal with the no- autofocus, when i needed to do RUclips content it was so annoying, even with a monitor, i kept being blurred so i sold it. Now im just waiting for the perfect camera . I like the a7cii, but again, there are so many other cameras for the same amount 😢of
It can be so tough to find the camera you love for sure, as much as we all want it to be true don’t think there will ever be the perfect camera, just one that is good enough for what we need. Definitely sympathize with you tho, way too many options to choose from lol
@@justin_bernstein i got a good deal on a fx30, and went with that. Im trying to get good with it. I was used to full frame, and while it feels like a downgrade it does what i need, which is honestly what i should care about. On a good note, i was able to sell so much stuff i had gathered over the years, felt sooo good to see those dusty shelves empty 😌
I think it depends, The type of setup your referring..
Music is too loud
"you've probably never heard of" Everyone in the comments: Oh yeah I've heard of it I went there last year, took the ferry from Osaka on my way to Tanegashima! I hear there's a lot of foreigners there.
Hahah apparently so! Most people I spoke to back home and foreigners in Japan had not but happy to see the online community has! Honestly we only saw one other group of foreigners there, maybe depends on the time of year
Hey. Thanks for the video. You need to work on the sound a little, it's hard to understand you at times. Especially for non native speakers.
Thanks for watching and the comment, will keep on working to improve it! Any spot in particular with issues or generally?
What’s your go to camera setup?
Sony a7s3 35mm 1.4 and Sony a7cii 50mm 1.4.
Did you do the mountain hike? I've been there and it's soooo beautiful!
No I didn’t get a chance to! Was so disappointed we didn’t have time
Everything looks so beautiful! New memories with old friends are special. Glad y’all had a great time.
Thank you! It was absolutely gorgeous, was at a loss for words up there
I want my son to go. He's 22.Some of my thoughts are it looks like there are mostly girls on the trips. Friends. And if he should get a single room. Were there mostly friends in the group? I would love to see more video of the group.
I loved Beppu - spent a couple of days during my birthday. I had some lukewarm preconceptions (ha!) about the place, but once I arrived at the train station and walked around, those were quickly dispelled.
Glad you ended up loving it too! There really is something magical about Beppu
@@justin_bernstein Yeah, I had read so many blogs and such beforehand that said that it was a bit of a "Disneyfied" hot springs town - and that it was going to suck compared to my ultimate hot springs town, Kurokawa Onsen. Don't misunderstand me - it was no Kurokawa Onsen, but I had a great time going to the Seven Hells area.
Beppu's been on my bucket list for so long! Can't believe I live on Kyushu and haven't been yet!
You gotta go! I loved it
haha nice try at the hole there. I think good call on not getting stuck. and thanks for a great vid! Enjoyed the edit.
I could just see the headlines now: “American stuck in hole in Japanese temple” 😂
Hi, amazing vid! Thank you. You guys seem really cool :) I'll be visiting Beppu in July. What was the name of the hotel in Beppu you stayed at?
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! The hotel is called Umino Hotel Hajime. So happy you’ll be going to Beppu too, definitely a highlight of my trip. Everyone was so friendly there too
@@justin_bernstein Cheers tomodachi!
I'm planning to do this one next summer. I'm booking solo and probably going to get the single hotel room upgrade. Based on your trip was it pretty easy to get things going with other people? Since I wouldn't be in the hostels with a bigger group of people I just worry I might get left out of some of the fun activities that happen
Great video bro. I did Germany, italy, and Switzerland years ago as my first trip and I haven’t stopped since. Been all over with EF
he might have good things to say; but the audio quality is so bad - I cannot hear anything .😢
Working on getting better!
That’s what he said haha
Dude I heard it while editing and I just shook my head laughing at myself hahah
Love the video! I’ve been to Japan in 2010 and visited the shrines in Tokyo. Do you plan on visiting Kyoto?
Yeah I did and loved it! Absolutely beautiful, these videos are from a trip in April and I'm back home now. Kyoto and Hiroshima are actually in the next video I'm working on! What was your favorite part of your trip?
Trash Tip: All convenience stores have trash bins. And convenience stores in Tokyo... well, let's say there are MANY. So if you find yourself with trash, just drop by a "conbini" and drop it off there. Convenient!
The room is so open and bright Nice video!
Nice video!
Nice video! What games have you been playing?
I’ve been playing Cyberpunk a lot lol. Other than that been doing some replays of Uncharted and Assassins Creed, easier to fit in single player games haha
@@justin_bernstein I’ve been wanting to play Cyberpunk but heard it had a lot of glitches so I’ve been postponing it. Guess the game must be running smoothly now, I’ll give it a try! Have you played Horizon? One of my faves
Hey, I just came across your RUclips channel. Do you have an instagram or something where I can dm you and ask you a couple of questions? I’m moving to nyc this summer and would really like some advice.
Yeah sure thing! Insta is: instagram.com/_justinbernstein_?igsh=eXFseHg3a2J3b2M4&

Whoops mb, updated, try again
Hey, love the video! Thank you for sharing this information
Good and clear break downs
Thanks! Hope it was helpful
Thanks for sharing. clear content and honest feedback. Keep up the journey! a friend here
Great video! I’ll hope more people watch your channel, subscribe and like your videos. Excellent job!! 👏👍👍👍❤️
Thank you that means so much!
No tipping! That's pretty cool 😂 And with all the Japanese style tattoos I see around, it's interesting to learn they consider them taboo
Yeah it’s pretty wild, have only had one issue so far but easily fixed by going to a private onsen
where in italy did u land?
We landed in Venice! I had a layover in Paris though
Have a great trip and enjoy it every day. One day I’d love to visit Japan. 🇯🇵 😊
Have fun! I leave to japan this friday, got a two week itinerary as well. trying to relax some of our itinerary treating some lesser stuff as wishlists
Thanks I hope you do too! Yeah definitely trying to make sure we have some balance to not overdo it
Looking to move this summer- what’s a good range for a studio or bedroom? And best value neighborhood ?
Price wise depends on area. Generally I’d say 2-3k for a studio and 3.5-4.5k for a one bedroom, really does depend on area though, this is Manhattan and Brooklyn mainly. Value neighborhoods depend on what you’re looking for, generally the further out from downtown Manhattan the cheaper it gets and varies by the desirability of the area. I can speak for Manhattan mainly so within here you’ll see people go far upper west or east side, midtown east and west too to save a little cash
Do they include all trips to and from activity’s ? And is there a time we’re I’ll have to provide transportation myself ? I’m planing on purching there flight threw them so it’s all managed but just sounds to good to be true
everything included
They handle everything but the flights will be cheaper on your own.
+1 to @Fortune1 most of the time. Especially if you have miles to use, can’t use them on EF booked flights
Excellent overview!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I'm planning on giving EF Ultimate a shot it sounds really nice
Love this video dude. I'm a Tribeca resident myself, around the same age as you. Every point you made in this video is so valid and I really enjoy how you weave in storytelling for things like your experiences with friends. Your camera angles are dope too, I gotta get one of those Rode mics so I can have a bit more freedom with camera placement...
Glad it resonated with you and thanks for watching! Appreciate the compliment, still feels weird recording in public but pushing myself to get out hahah. The wireless mics and gorillapod are a combo I’m starting to love
@@justin_bernstein Good stuff brother. I'll look into the Gorillapod as well.
Great video! I love NYC🗽 ❤. It’s a beautiful city and Christmas is my favorite time to visit NY. 🤗❤️
Thanks! Love Christmas time here too, really beautiful, just could do without the freezing wind 🥶😂
Your New York based videos always make me want to visit. 😂So you're definitely doing a good job! And yes, I totally understand about living in a "transient" type of city... I also face this. At times, you're left all solo when ppl move away. That part kind of sucks. So which borough would you say generally is the most cost friendly to live in?? (I'm sure they all have maybe cheaper areas to stay) Btw... kind of like the Sunday morning video drops. Something to look forward to☺️
Hahah I’m glad! Yeah guess that’s just part of life and how friend groups ebb and flow, doesn’t make it suck any less though lol. As for the borough really depends on the area, I have a friend or two in Queens and Brooklyn and they seem to be doing well cost wise. I’d say Manhattan overall is going to be the most consistently expensive. Thanks! Yeah I’ve been trying to stay consistent for Sunday morning to hold myself accountable but glad to hear you like it too! I’ll probably stick to Sundays as my day and if I can squeeze 2x week it’ll be Wednesday too
did the exact same trip in april two years ago and it was an awesome experience
did you check a bag??
I didn’t but I was one of three only people who didn’t. Just watch out if you bring a big bag, you do have to lug it around on cobblestone, up stairs, etc
Great video!! 👍👏👍
I’d love to visit that beautiful city. Great pictures!!
Thank you!
Did you have a lot of free time in Lucerne? I want to swim in the lake soooo bad!
Honestly not that much time. Basically the morning walking tour and after that went to Rigi the same day
my brother deserve more viewers
Means so much, thank you! 🙏🏻
I found out about your channel looking for things to do in Québec. I’m in love with this city. ❤️
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching, hopefully you found it helpful!
