Crankin with Square Bill! (November Bass Fishing)
Did you hook the switch to the trolling motor battery? Thanks, Mark.
I’m switched to the Cranking battery. I use my trolling batteries just for the trolling motor. That is the generally what everyone does.
Hi, this is a great series of videos. I’m waiting for the 25’s to come out and I plan on buying the pro 175 TXW and installing a power pole exactly like you did. My question is on the install of the hydraulic bracket. It looks like on the other side of where you installed the bracket is the fuel tank? Is there space between where you screwed the bracket in and the gas tank? (If in fact the gas tank is back there). Thank you. The videos are really well done.
There is about a half inch of space or so there between the gas tank and the piece I mounted it on. You will need to pre drill holes carefully and choose shorter screws. It’s really tough to do on that side. The reason I did it on that side was to be able to install a second power pole in the future and the 2nd pump would go by the batteries and be 10x easier to install.
Thank you for the information, it really helps. I wondered about a second power pole and where the pump would go. Now I know. Thanks again. Mark.
My drain plug nut on my ‘24 Mercury 60/40 jet is 18mm, not 11/16”……but appreciate the video.👍
Thank you buddyyyy!!!!
Instead of marking the shifter rod and the shifter in the foot, why didn't you just take it off in neutral and put it back in neutral?
When you reinstall the lower unit, you want the drive in forward gear and lower unit in forward gear so that you can spin the prop by hand to line the splines up. This ensures that the splines are properly aligned.

@@belowaveragebassfisherman574good deal I appreciate the response, I guess I've just been lucky in the past when I just left it in neutral. 👍
@@Opiemusyes sir! Always more than one way to get the job done. That’s just how I learned to do it.
There are more than 1 kind of grounding for a reason! Goggle it! BLUETOOTH and RF may need a straight ground not through the battery Negative. This can cause static on all the units .
Is your GL 10 black box grounded to water ground if you have interference water ground this is RF radio interference all the new Garmin units have an earth ground or water ground. Some boats have a water ground in hull.
That question is beyond me. I don’t have a good answer. I just have it wired up like any other electronic, straight to a fuse block.
Thank you for this video boss! Was extremely helpful to me!
Where did you get your water pump kit? Everywhere I go I keep getting the wrong one
I ordered the 300 kit from Partsvu with everything in it. They told me that they weren’t sure the water impeller was going to fit for my serial number motor. I bought it anyways and it works perfectly.
What year is your motor? Mine is a 2021. Wondering if the same procedure applies.
@@gregoryrowe41432014. If not the exact same, it will be extremely similar.
Good video brother! I have a 90 hp, so it’s very similar. However, I notice that when I have it in gear and try to spin the prop shaft the drive shaft doesn’t turn with it. But when I turn the drive shaft the prop shaft will turn. Does yours do the same?
Drive shaft should turn the prop shaft and the prop shaft turn the drive shaft. It shouldn’t matter which one you spin, as long as it’s in gear. Thats why you can wiggle the prop a bit to get the gear splines to line back up when putting the lower unit back in place.
After a year, how is this setup holding up? Im seriously considering going this route.
It has held up great. Had zero issues with it. I did last month get the GMS 10 network box though because I added another graph on the bow and didn’t have any more room to plug in another graph.
Where did you get that kit from?
www.partsvu.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADPnQRjs-by10TNb1-sln-eHEJY3u&gclid=CjwKCAjwjeuyBhBuEiwAJ3vuoYhuUqzvuqxlTyR1Z-Oo2KKs5-ta4mjvUfKIQ1oS2ykDHIl5A2QxuxoCzQAQAvD_BwE
I watched another video that only said you need a ethernet cable to connect both of the graphs to run lives scope on both of them at the same time
Garmin 93sv graphs only have one network/panoptix port.
Cool video. Just wanted to say i got the knock off Magdraft and i like it now that i put eagle claw laser sharp hooks on it. The original hooks are terrible.
Made that look too easy brother.
Thanks, man. I only got my experience watching others do it!
I fried the GS108 and even had a 5 amp inline fuse. I believe it blew the fuse because i had the fuse on the negative wire coming from the GS108 to the positive on the battery. You can look on the back of these netgear units and there is a small diagram that shows that the positive is the stem of the plug and the neg is the outer metal sleeve of the plug. Take a test light after you connect to battery and clamp (neg) onto the outer sleeve and put the point into the stem and if light comes on you have it connected properly without risking frying the netgear unit
I know this video is a year old but guys are still watching it and got the Netgear GS108 at Walmart for $48. The one you are using here shows that it is a 5 Volt. The GS108 shows that it is a 12Volt. I cut the power wire from the block and wired it with the intermittent white striped wire to negative and the wire with the small print to the positive. When I turned the GS108 on it fried. Got another GS108 and reversed the the power plug wires and it powered up with no problem. The positive is the wire with the intermittent stripes.
Ooo this isn’t good. I apologize that my video seemed to be misleading in your case with the GS108. That is strange that Netgear would not be consistent with their product. I will notate this in the description.
So are the three Ethernets in the NETGEAR box this? network cable with Ethernet adapter, and both monitors directly to box?
My network cables plug directly into the netgear box. I’m not sure of an Ethernet adapter.
So Ethernet from black box to netgear and then both monitors to netgear? Also could I still use a 54tranducer on the back for the console but also see the live scope on the console and bow?
@@Bottombounceyes, that is how it’s done and your livescope will show on both screens. Watch my livescope install video and it will show how it’s set up.
Thank you for getting back to me! This was my first livescope install and it’s all new to me Sorry I was confused as to which cables were network cables I was thinking of the NMEA as the network and was unaware that the port on the black box literally says network. I just installed everything exactly as you did and it’s working great as of now, thank you man!
oh yeah, no problem. It can be confusing for sure. You may secure your network cables into your netgear box with some electrical tape. Looks a little janky but it works. I’ve seen other people get real creative and use a small plastic tackle storage box to secure the netgear box and drill holes for the network cables running into it.
For anybody looking to do this, you can get VERY cheaply get USB powered network switches. Having just snagged two $299 Echomap 74xsv from West Marine (crazy sale), I just bought a 3 port on Amazon for seven bucks, and plugged it into an SAE 12v to USB phone charger I already had on hand. Plugged in my LiveScope black box (the OG, from my icefishing rig) and it works a treat. For what it is worth, cables don't seem to matter; I tried one crossover cable and one regular old cat6 cable, and both seem to work great.
Where did you buy the transom brackets? I can’t find them on power poles website.
I got mine from bass pro but I see it’s not available there right now. Here is a link for the same one at Walmart. Power-Pole Transom Braced Kit Universal www.walmart.com/ip/1730470247 Here it is on the power pole website. power-pole.com/transom-braced-universal
I do not like this oil change, I do not buy in liters....... quarts all my life
quart and liters are pretty much the same. 1qt=.946 L
Did you get the mount from hydrilla gear?
I ordered it from Bass Pro.
but can you run both on livescope at the same time? like if you had a buddy fishing in the back that wanted to see what the front graph was showing on live scope?
Yes, you can. I do that all the time when I have someone fishing the back.
@belowaveragebassfisherman574 sweet thanks for the reply.🤙
Real question is can you use the HDMI to CAT5 adapter to be able to get it to a TV
Plug the Tx (transmit) which you would leave that one off and just plug ethernet port in to the graph or networking box and then put the adapter piece on ethernet to HDMI which would be the Rx (Receive) so basically you would probably just need the one that's labeled RX think that would work
That is a good question but I have no idea. Haven’t tried the ol flatscreen trick yet.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574yeah that's what I'm wondering so basically instead of having the secondary screen hooked up take that put the adapter in on it and plug it into the TV
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574I had a buddy who has the 10-inch I thought about trying it on his because it has two ethernet ports on the back of it and I wouldn't have to buy an Ethernet box just the ethernet to HDMI kit
I bought Cat 6 cables at Walmart... will I need to wire them crossover or will straight through work with this netgear box? Thanks
Sorry man, I’m not educated enough on that subject to answer that completely. I used garmin network cables directly from my livescope black box and or garmin graph to the netgear box.
Dude perfect. Thanks for this video. I have a 2012 mercury 60hp. Also subbed
I will have a 300 hour maintenance video up pretty soon, hopefully!
Very good video! That showed me that I can do it with the 93's. One question... What adapter did you use to go into the black box network slot? Thanks for sharing....
I’m sorry. I’m not sure I understand the question about the adapter.
@belowaveragebassfisherman574 I'm sorry about that. The net gear switch to the live scope black box. The black box has a pin type connection. That still may not mask sense. I don't know the proper names for all that.
The black box should come with an adapter that connects to a standard garmin network cable. The garmin network cable will act just like an Ethernet cable to plug into the netgear box.
What converter did you use? Or did you find one that was DC 12v?
You can see how I hooked it up in my livescope install video. ruclips.net/video/gaJuZ7dcyq4/видео.htmlsi=U0I9U4Pdxzwi0Cai I hard wired the netgear box from a fuse box, to a switch, to the netgear box itself.
Thanks my dude. Ordered the kit. Saved me alot of research!
would this work for a 73sv on the bow and a 106 on the console ? the 106 has 2 ports and the 73 only one , i want to keep the bigger unit on the console
Yes, you won’t even need a network box because you have two network plugs on the 106. You will plug your livescope into the 106 via the livescope network cable and then run a garmin network cable from the other port on the 106 to the 73sv. They will link together without the box as long as they are both powered on. However, If you are using livescope, I would advise using the 73sv on the console and the 106 at the bow. You’ll want as much screen as possible if you’re looking at a livescope while fishing.
Thanks for the tip on the oil catch thing. Just bought one on amazon. Thanks for posting!
what fuse did u use for the livescope on the black fuse box ? or Livescope comes with the fuse already ?
Love the boat man, saw some of your previous vids with it. How do you like it, what do you do most with it? & can it handle some decent water?
I really enjoy it. If I could afford a bigger boat I would absolutely have one. But I have multiple hobbies so I can’t put all my money in one place. I do like this boat though because it is extremely customizable. It’s a 2014 model so I can make modifications and run over shit and not worry. I’ve taken this boat anywhere from small state park lakes to Kentucky Lake, Lake Guntersville, Table Rock lake and Lake Fork. I definitely wouldn’t take it out on a big lake like Rayburn if the weather was bad because it’s a little too short. But I was on table rock in some bad weather with 2-3 footers and it did fine. I like to fish shallow water though so I can really take it just about anywhere I want. Hope that answers your question haha. If you have the option, get the 75 HP. I wish I had it. I have the 60HP and it was fine at first but like with anything else, I always want to go faster.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574 That’s awesome, it’s gonna take me a few years to save up for a truck before I even think about a boat. But a bass boat like this would be an awesome value to get into fishing, I’m in Florida by the Gainesville area so places like Lake Santa Fe or the nearby rivers & lakes is where I’d be most of the time. Maybe one day I could get into somethin like this. $14k-$20k would be a good budget for somethin used if I got one at some point, & from the vids I’ve seen the fishing you do looks pretty fun. I’m no tournament angler by any means but a boat like this to just get out there & fish would be pretty nice.
I notice on new one they are only 5volt. 12 volt runs 50.00
I believe that mine may be a 5 volt as well. Of course it would always be better to run a 12 volt supply to a 12 volt electronic. However, I have not had issues out of mine so far in the last year.
Thanks, informative
Thanks for a great video. Where did you get the motor cover? Also, a shared tip - 50/50 mix of white vinegar and window cleaner makes a great motor cleaner.
Good tip. I got my motor cover online from Ocean South
Thanks for taking the time and getting back to me on the cover. Keep making great videos.
I have tried two of these exact net gear box’s wired how your description says and both times they smoked and burned the inside of the box. Any idea why I know practically nothing about wiring so it’s probably an issue on my end.
I’m sorry to hear that is happening to you. That is really strange. If you go watch my garmin livescope install video at 8:25, you will see I have it rigged up with the black wire with white stripes as the negative wire. I’ve been running it like that since I made the video. If your power source/battery is too high in voltage, the same thing will occur.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574 is that hooked straight to a 12v power source ? Or is there some kind of breaker or power damper?
@@kaibarnett9757 it is powered by my 12 Volt cranking battery. I do, however, have a 5 amp fuse in the line. Check out my garmin install video and it will clarify it. I have it rigged to a switch and then to a fuse block.
I used the flat (thin )network cable it did not work . Are you supposed to use the round CAT5 Internet cable?
I used the Garmin network cable. I have not tried anything else so I couldn’t speak to that. The Garmin network cable works for me.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574 Thanks for the reply I’ll try using the Garmin cables.
Will this set up work with my Garmin ECHOMAP 73 sv and Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv?
If it has the panoptix port on the back of the graph to accept an Ethernet cable then it will work.
Believe it or not. When the motor cranks over, the impeller spins down below. If the impeller is dry, it could break off the fins when you turn over the motor. I would never crank my motor dry. Just saying. Otherwise great job on the video.
just running the engine under a min will do no damage to the impeller. it will not get hot enough to cause any damage. there is video on RUclips that they tested this.
How do you attach the screen to the front
Need some clarity on your question. I don’t understand.
tq 👍👍👍👍👍✌️
So the console transducer goes on the back of the boat? Where do you put the transducer for the bow mounted one? (Not the livescope, the one that came with the fish finder)?
I have one GT56 transducer mounted on the trolling motor and one mounted on the transom. They are connected to their respective Garmins. Transom to the console graph and trolling motor to the bow graph. You do not have to use both transducers if you have all of your graphs networked together. You could use the live-scope transducer at the bow and a GT56 transducer at the transom.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574you have the two gt56’s? I’m assuming you’re just running them at different frequencies? I’ve got the 106sv at the bow and thinking about getting a 94sv for the console or the lowrance.
Thank you for your help btw!
@@shaneadamsre yes. I cannot remember the frequency I’m running. I’m not at home or I would go look. But yes, I have one on the front and back of my boat for each graph.
@@belowaveragebassfisherman574 what’s the main reason to have a transducer on the front? I just ordered a cord to network mine together, so wouldn’t the one in the back work fine?
Nice catches nephew. I am really enjoying your series on here.
Great video. I have that exact engine and love it. I sure want to take care of it. I have about 10 hours on it. IS THIS TOO EARLY TO CHANGE THINGS?
I’m not sure about that. I bought mine used and change the oil and lower unit fluid once per year. I would check owners manual or call Mercury.
If your unit is new,It should have came with a book or you can google it on procedure break in hours required by warranty and it will give you the hours when to change the oil, lower gear oil and fuel filters . I installed the vesselview on my motor and it Bluetooth to your phone and you can keep up with the hours on the motor with that and keep a log of all the maintenance.
Hahaha Great job but 3.99 is not 4 Bet the fish was 5 at spawn!
Yes! I’m so sorry for calling a 3.99 a “4 pounder” thank you for correcting me! Good looking out!
This guy
Thanks for the great video. I just finished up my Livescope install networked with a netgear switch. I had to use a GS105, which is a bit too tall. I took the feet off.
where did you get network cables with small end on one side large on the other
I’m not sure what you mean. Both ends of the network cable are the same Ethernet style plug.
It’s just a garmin network cable. It has a Ethernet connection on both ends.
How well does one pole hold your boat? I have a 2020 classic xl and been debating on getting a pole
It holds very well but you will spin in the wind. I love mine. I do not regret spending the money!
I bought those Seasky Fishing style recoil baits from WISH a year ago but they work best with the T-Hooks that come with the Lawless Lures ones!
I may have to order some of those hooks for sure then!
