Various Artists - “With Love, A Pot Of Flowers” Vinyl (1967)
Redtelephone66 Original Vinyl Rip
Original LP Mainstream Records S/6100
With Love - A Pot Of Flowers was originally released as a twelve track album on the Mainstream label back in 1967. Ace subsidiary Big Beat have remastered and repackaged the original and slapped on a further fourteen bonus tracks for good measure. The result is a wonderfully ramshackle and unstable collection representative of a time when anything seemed possible.
Originally the brainchild of Bob Shad, an east coast based record exec looking to expand his roster beyond his jazzy comfort zone, his answer was to travel cross country scouting for talent. His excursion may have failed to secure the signature of artists with ...

Redtelephone66 Vinyl Rip Original LP Unreleased In 1968, the American Breed (Gary Loizzo, guitar/vocals; Al Ciner, guitar; Charles "Chuck" Colbert, bass; and Lee Graziano, drums) had a top ten hit with the classic-rock single "Bend Me, Shape Me". After much success, Colbert and Graziano (without Loizzo, who pursued a successful production career) created a new group, adding later-day American B...

Redtelephone66 Vinyl Rip Original LP MCA Records MCA 2241 Influenced by Sly & the Family Stone and Rare Earth, Fresh was an obscure, little-known 1970s band that combined soul and funk with rock. The interracial outfit, which shouldn't be confused with either the 1990s hip-hop engineer or other bands that have called themselves Fresh, didn't get very far commercially quite possibly, its three L...

Retelephone66 Rip Original Lp - Columbia Records MS 7193 If the album cover didn't scream '60s at you, then the track listing most certainly did ... Seriously, track titles like 'Other four Letter Words', 'Greatest Hits - Love Your Nave', and the classic 'Poop for Sopranos and Orchestra' just had that unique '60s zeitgeist (always wanted to use that word in a review). Produced by John McClure, ...

Original Redtelephone66 Rip Original Lp - Dot Records DLP 25933 Womb's S/T debut LP is a pretty good psych rock album with lots of folk elements. The quality of the material is mostly solid and enjoyable. That A-side song "Peace" and the massive album closer "Happy Egotist" are my favourite songs here whereas "Morning Rises Early" might be the weakest song of the record. "Happy Egotist" include...

Original Redtelephone66 Rip Original Lp - Dot Records DLP 25959 “Overdub” was the second and final LP by this band from LA. Their S/T debut is a good totality and while “Overdub” includes enjoyable moments it's still a bit weaker than it's predecessor. The A-side is pretty mediocre I think but the B-side is pretty good. "Flying High" and "Evil People" are both quite solid psych rockers. I'm gon...

Original Redtelephone66 Rip Original Lp - ABC Records ABCS- 647 PRODUCER: TOM WILSON This might be kind of a mindfuck for those who only recognize this LA band for "Don't Bogart Me" (or "Don't Bogart That Joint"), which was featured in Easy Rider and has been covered a number of times. It turns out that it was originally released on this far-out psychedelic rock album. It's actually kind of a f...

Original Redtelephone66 Rip Original Lp - UNI Records 73132 ( This Is The One Way CD Bonus Edition) I find this to be on of the more enjoyable offshoots of The Mothers, but I would still enjoy it if there was no connection to Zappa at all. Wish that I could find the second album. I was really sad to learn that Jimmy Carl Black passed away in late 2008. I don't know how one could call the vocals...

Original Redtelephone66 Rip Original Lp - Evolution Records 2021 Also released on Faithful Virtue Records FVS 2003 This band’s debut doesn’t sound like late 60’s rock - it sounds like mid 70’s melodic rock, and it’s quite good. It’s tightly crafted rock with tasteful arrangements, singing and has a high production value. (Recorddigger RYM) Tracklist: Entrance/What’s Goin’ Through My Head Discov...

RIP Jerry Miller
Jerry died? I seen no news of his passing.
Nice try Danny. At least you gave it a shot!
stupid
Great tune as more on this special album
Does Danny ever get to sing?
Beautiful album
What an odd song title “Coffee Cup” is. It bears no literal or figurative connection to the lyrics as far as I can tell.
Perhaps the answer lies inside the coffee cup. Or he is seeking answers while looking inside the cup ????
The Euphoria sound a bit like Love.
Awesome Highly Overlooked Album! Thanks So Much for Posting!
Amazing
you dummys realize he isnt singing, right? lol
This before he was discovered by Mr. kinkade.
He should really revisit this material.
He's not with us anymore.
@@leonardlos3209 Yes he is. David Cassidy isn’t.
@@gunnarjordan6980 I'm sorry i was replying to a Sean Bonniwell post... i must have replied to this post by accident.
The 70's Agh, After school teen clubs.
Takes me back to great psych prog rock. Thanks for posting
I bought it.😎
This is awesome
Love the album cover
Last Life reminds me of Jefferson Airplane in the drumming passages. And I can hear the potential of J. Airplane in the rest of the song as well. Yet the trumpet brings to mind Marriachi music also. Interesting cut! My first hearing of this band, and it's unusual enough to have stopped me reading just to pay more attention to the music. That doesn't happen often, as I get deep into my books (Chapterhouse: Dune this time) and enjoy music as a backdrop for reading. BTW, I did notice that the written tracklist and the chapter list have nothing in common one with the other. Tracklist is fantasy; Chapter reality! My best to all, Brew
I see he also suffered from tortured artist syndrome.
Really cool album, thanks for posting, awesome.

Very good sound 😊
amazing - had this first track on a mixtape for years and never knew what it was...

Groovy and farout ❤❤
Thanks, this is interesting - reminds me of Bob Ray
Danny has admitted that someone else was doing the primary singing. His vocals were laid on top on theirs.
Same with Leif Garret and in some cases, Leif didn’t sing at all! He talks about it in his book.
My mom was much bigger than my dad and she would play this album when we lived in Winston Oregon..Dad said it was hippie music and when he fell asleep that night Big mama sat on his face and farted holding him down nd laughing.. Great memories!
Excellent album, band &....VOCALS!!!!!!!
Great album, thanks for sharing
