    These are the star athletes who can give lot of inspiration to younger girls and generation. But unfortunately cricketers take 99.9% of popularity , advertising and money pie . Reason with 1.4 billion people India comes back with single digit Olympic medals below small countries.

    Was catching up with him yesterday at Koshy's and remembered this interview on the way back. Putting in a comment to add traffic for the good work you're doing to inspire people, Dilip. I am drawn to people esp achievers who walk easy with a certain levity, he personifies it...the Dravid of the running circuit, no less! Its been wonderful knowing him offline in the last 2 years or so.

  • @cheryl9461

    Something in this interview did not tie up. The interviewer and Prannoy both seem to agree that sport is excellent therapy for mental health issues( like say depression) but then on the other hand , after hearing Prannoy’s side on things it seems sports can also create mental health challenges of its own like having to deal with loneliness while on the circuit or training, the need to constantly have access to a psychologist, the toll that the unpredictability of losing takes on self esteem, the pressure to win or bring titles that they are always under etc… So then in the end, can one definitely say that playing sports is the best remedy for mental health issues, confidence etc? It sounds more like athletes just have easier access to a psychologist to help them out & the psychologist in their team can help them overcome or become better versions of themselves by offering them another perspective in this competitive climate? I feel this generalized correlation about sports being awesome for mental health could be explored a bit more. Yes athletes are mentally tough but that is more from the conditioning is how I am seeing it.

    I don't understand why she is being sent to represent India when she is well past her best. Not trying to undermine her achievements at all, but there is no way she is going to win a medal at Paris. She should rather coach some promising player and win a gold for India through him or her. The BAI is clearly not up to the mark selecting the teams. If they claim that there were no other options, that's an even bigger problem.

    Chinese women's doubles shuttlers had to kill each other to get to olympics. They have 3 pairs in top 8 - the norm is to have only max 2 pairs from each country. Here we are sending a 34 year old and taking pride in it. No doubt, Ashwini was a gem, but she's way past her prime and WD and XD in India has really long way to go to even dream of a medal at a major event.

    • @barelbala
      @barelbala 6 дней назад

      Yes, Whatever u pointed out here is true. Instead of looking for new faces, we are relying on old legs, she can as part of contingent but not by cost of younger player. I dont think, we do have right streamline process to reach that level, we keep on seeing same players again and again except cricket. If this continue, she will play until get married.
