Riding the New West Virginia Single Track Trail System: Hatfield McCoy Tornado Single Trax
Ride along with me as I take a solo ride on West Virginia's new Hatfield McCoy Tornado Single Trax trail system.
Given my starting time I was only able to go through the blue trails, and while these were fairly wide and easy I did get to try the double black trail 91. I crashed a couple times and got stock on a tree for a while. I found out I'm definitely not good enough for this trail, but I hope to have more footage soon.
Bike: 2022 KTM 250 XCW with 41 hours
Camera: GoPro Hero 12 with Dango Chin Mount

There are plenty of fire roads in these West Virginia woods, but not a lot of single track. I spent this December evening running through tree limbs trying to find new places to ride. In August of 2019 I took my 2013 KTM 200 XCW to Perry State Forest in Ohio. I am more comfortable on the bike at this time than the May video as I had been a few times since then. On 2/25/24 a group of 7 dirt bikes ride the trails at Ivy Branch Hatfield McCoy Trails. There was a lot of hill climbing, creek crossing and single track riding throughout the day. I would say that it is pretty easy to find from Ivy Branch. You can see the mine if you look at Google maps. Where do you typically ride and what do you ride?

9:19 why did the bike die? Also why did you use the starter to start it back up vs just letting the clutch out?
Thanks for watching the video that much and in detail! I'm not sure, but I believe I have an intermittent electrical/kill switch issue. I've been riding on the 701 and hit something hard enough it throws the kill switch. At the time I felt it would be easier to use the starter button rather than downshift and bump start it. I'm not sure I was going fast enough in the current gear to roll start it and I wasn't going slow enough in the gear for the engine to die.
These videos make me wish a I had a light adventure bike, too. Looks like a lot of fun.
Yeah it's a ton of fun. I've done a decent amount of street riding and sxs riding but I think this is great. I do prefer riding my dirt bikes though.
Negotiating SxS ruts is no joke. Much respect.

I am retired so I can ride just about any day. Next Monday looks like a good day as far as temperature and chance of rain . I have to travel about 120 miles to get there.
