Blindfold Book Challenge w/ My Daughter!!
I read All 13 as well and watched the documentary, so that book about the diver sounds really interesting
I’m excited about it!
Those MacMillan classics are soooo pretty, but they are really tiny 😂 I think you’ll enjoy North and South! Yay, The Trumpet-Major! I hope you like it more than Return of the Native 😂 I just realized how many books we’re reading together this month!
We are reading a lot together, but I love it!
I've been wondering why we hadn't heard from you in a while - I'm so glad you're back!! Ooooh I loved All Thirteen so much, so can't wait to hear your thoughts on Aquanaut I have the same impression of War of the Worlds, with the radio broadcast, so you definitely didn't make it up 😂
I’m excited to hear his side of the story, for sure! I’m glad to know I didn’t make up the radio drama! 😂😂
Sorry you've been slumpy. I've been kinda feeling that way in Sept but thankfully got passed it when i read what i actually WANTED to read.... which was Victorian classics.
Yes War of the Worlds was a radio drama. I might listen to it this month. Yay patreon🎉🎉🎉 I'm excited about the Hardy book. Yay Gaskell although I've not read that one yet. Great TBR!
I think that would be a great medium for War of the Worlds! I’m excited about all of the books I’m planning to read!
I can't wait to read Hyunam-Dong Bookshop. Sounds so good. Funny thing I hadn't heard anything about Brandon Sanderson for a very long while and in the last 24 hours I've heard several recommendations on his books. Great video!
Thanks! It was so good! I loved it! Brandon Sanderson is great - you should definitely check out his books!
I loved Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop so much too!!!
It was so good!
I just picked up that same edition of Room with a View at the church rummage sale. I hope I like it 🤞
It’s a beautiful cover!
So, remember how June was a very Whitney month for me? I feel like July was a very Tiffany month for you 😂 So many of these books are ones we read together, talked about in-depth or I recommended. I’m glad you enjoyed most of them! Sorry Kuma Bear was a bit of a miss for you. Your criticisms are valid. It was a perfect palate cleanser for me, but I just read volume 6 and I’m losing interest the further I get 😂 I think I’m done with the series for now, unfortunately.
Yes! It did feel like a Tiffany month! It was a good reading month! Don’t worry about Kuma Bear - I can see why you liked it, but it doesn’t surprise me that you’re losing interest, either.
VW is known for the jumping thoughts!😂 She is stream of consciousness and is very little punctuation and feels incoherent until you get the hang of it. I don’t personally like her content- which is my main objection to her fiction. A Room is the only book of hers I’ve read and kept. To the Lighthouse is sort of half and half Stream of consciousness & a narrative. + it is short. If you want to get a feel for her SoC writing without having to read as much of it.
Well I may not venture further into her works, then. I’ve had several people mention her content, so I may just steer clear.
Yay Count of MC!!!! Be careful and research V. Woolf for content. Just throwing that out there. Before the Coffee...i cried through that book!! I didn't like the 2nd one as much. I didn't mind the repetitive parts too much. I have Lady Trent on my Want to Read.
Thank you for letting me know about Woolf’s content! I may just steer clear!
You're awesome Whitney! You make me want to read Fidelity! 😀
Thank you! You should definitely read it - I really enjoyed it!
I like weird books but I didn't like Annihilation at all because of the scene towards the end with her husband. It made me mad so I dnf'd the series. 😅 I liked reading One Day in the Life. I've been curious about Russia prison camps. I LOVE Wendall Berry!!! It takes me back to growing up in the country in GA. 😊
Wendell Berry is a new favorite for sure! I like weird books, too, but Annihilation wasn’t for me.
I like that you read a wide variety of genres! I haven’t read Wendell Berry yet but would like to soon. I’m planning to mood read in August too- it seems like a good month for it!
Thanks! It keeps things interesting! Summer is definitely a great time to mood read!
The Count of MC!!! I ❤ that book!!! I think it's easy to think of it as Zorro tho. 😂😂 I'm very interested to see what you think of the Forester and Wolfe books. Yesss Royal Assassin 🎉🎉🎉 Before the Coffee gets Cold....i found it so touching!!❤
I was so confused until I realized my mistake! 🤣 I can’t wait to get to all the books this month!
With All creatures, I left it next to my bed and just read one or two chapters every night. That way you can read your other books during the day. Let me worn you though, it is hard to just read one or two chapters. He is so good. 😄
Great idea!
Amazing videos!🥰it.
I've never read Hard Times! I'm so glad you liked it. Great Expectations is my favorite Dickens 😍 The difference between you and Tiffany's experience with Shark Heart is really funny 😂 I always love your videos and hearing your thoughts on books!
I’ll have to read Great Expectations next! I totally thought I’d be in the same boat as her, but was pleasantly surprised! Thank you so much!
I hated Catcher in the Rye so very much. I also liked Shark Heart as strange as it was.
Oh nice! Glad to hear someone else enjoyed Shark Heart! I feel like I’m definitely in the minority on that one. Catcher in the Rye was a really rough read for me. The language was hard to get past.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Hard Times. I'm excited to get to my next Dickens at some point...probably Victober. I loved hearing your thoughts on Shark Heart vs Tiffany's.😅
Tiffany and I had very differing opinions on Shark Heart, that’s for sure! It wasn’t something I’d normally pick up, but I was glad I gave it a go!
100 cupboards was a series that i completely lost my mind over as a young adult. I read the trilogy back to back to back, 3x in a row. I haven't reread it since but I'd like to sometime!
Oh wow! That’s definitely making me want to continue on with the series more quickly now!
What a good reading month! I too loved Lightfall 3, and Morning Star! Im currently waiting for Iron Gold to come in at the library. Its taken me 2 years (since finishing the trilogy) to decide whether i wanted to continue the series and I finally decided, yes, i do. 😂
Let me know what you think! I want to continue on as well, but I’m not sure when I’ll actually get to it. 🤪
@@whitneydrew I will try to remember to let you know! I'm also friends with Tiffany, so I am sure I will be ranting to her about the books as I read them. So if I forget to comment with my thoughts, just ask Tiffany! 😂
@@victoria9663 haha! Will do!
An Everlasting Meal sounds so good! I want to read that one and Days at Morisaki Bookshop! I find that some Korean and Japanese books feel a bit odd, like you were saying. Learning more about the culture has helped, but some of it is definitely translation! So glad you loved Morning Star! Peter is currently reading Golden Son and he loves them too! I thought Snow White with the Red Hair was pretty meh also.
I’ll bring them to you! Clif has moved on to the second set of books! I need some good manga suggestions!
I love SG’s Doomslug 😍
Thanks! She was thrilled with it!
You had a great month!!💗💗
I really did!
I enjoyed Ross’s River Enchanted but didn’t love the follow up book. Hooray for Lady Trent reeling you back in! It’s a great series 💕 I added An Everlasting Meal to my list!
Lady Trent definitely picked back up in book 3! I hope you love An Everlasting Meal - it was so interesting!
Happy birthday!! So fun to get books for your birthday 🤩. Also, so jealous you get to live near Tiffany!!
Thank you! She is the best!
My bookmark was the thumbnail! 🎉 That was very exciting. Thanks for your kind words 🥹 Can’t wait to get coffee together soon!
Also, I feel like I should comment on these other books, except you already told me about all of them 😂😂😂
You’re welcome! I am very thankful for our friendship! Coffee sounds good!!
Birthday bookish hauls are so fun! Happy belated! Looks like you had a good one! I hope you enjoy all the books 💕
Thank you!! 😊
What a nice birthday haul!! Happy Birthday!! Love Tiffany's gifts!!
Thank you!!
So happy to see a video from you!! YES I also love Sense and Sensibility more than P&P 😃
Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

I agree with your comments about My Antonia. I felt the same way when I read it many years ago. I'm not a big audio listener for the reason you stated. I only use it for classics. When I do use it, I try to switch back and forth between print and audio because I feel I retain a little better.
My Antonia was just lovely! I usually only listen to audiobooks in the car, and those are normally books I’m listening to with my kids. They just don’t keep my attention very well!
I’m glad you’re back! I looked for you lol. I realized that I hadn’t seen anything from you in awhile.
Thank you! It’s been a bit but I am glad to be back!
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your videos and your reviews! Hope you and your family are well and that you’ll dip back in to BookTube someday. 🙂
Thank you so much! We are doing well and I’m glad to finally be back!
Best wishes with your reading.

I really had a good time reading When in Rome just a light cute read😊
I agree!
For some reason I was thinking that the reason you disliked Red Rising was the writing style. The next two books ramp up the violence, so they might not be your jam either 😬 Red Rising is the only book with Hunger Games vibes. The other two certainly depart from that format I’m with ya on the movie adaptation of Flower Moon … I’m a wimp with violent content visually. Books are a different story lol 😂
Well that’s disappointing! I didn’t care for the writing style or the violence. 😂 I think I’ll still give it a go - if the writing style improves, I’m hoping the violence won’t feel so unnecessary (if that makes sense).
Hi there! How are you? I hope you are having a good time! I visited your RUclips channel and I saw your videos content is very good, also your videos thumbnail is attractive but the problem is in your videos have not much engagement, likes not much views and comments, Its main reason is in your videos keyword section area is not perfect. Due to which your videos are not going to more people. What must be done to get more likes, comments and views on your videos. At first you have to fix your video's keyword section area, like if I shortly explain to you, you need to SEO related title selection for your video, write an attractive SEO related description and research high ranking keywords according to niche on your videos. If we perfectly update your videos keyword section area, then your videos definitely will be a rich top search result on RUclips and google. And if we do On page SEO and Off page SEO of your videos completely with VidIQ, TubeBuddy premium version and Google keyword planner, then your targeted traffic will come to your channel and your videos will get more likes, comments views and Subscribers regularly and day by day. I hope you understand. If you have any questions feel free to ask me as a friend. growwithdidar777@gmail>com
These sound fascinating! I hope your reading month gives you some five stars finally! My reading month is going to be focused on middle grade! I'm doing my very own middle grade March revamp for October. I have a stack of mg novels that looked really good, including a couple spooky retellings that I want to get to first: The Edge of In Between and The Grace of Wild Things
That sounds like fun! Enjoy your reading this month!
Just to help set expectations on Dawnshard... it's not about Yasnah. I'm reading Dracula now and it's just the right amount of creepy. Jane Eyre is one of my fav books ever!!
Excited to reread Jane Eyre after so long! I enjoyed Dracula quite a bit!
I love that Jane Eyre edition 😍 So curious to hear what you think about Hilltop Farm! I enjoyed it, but never continued on in the series. Wonderland Trials and Stranger Diaries both sound so interesting! Looking forward to reading Dawnshard and Something Wicked with you!
Well I finished Something Wicked….and I did not like it. 🥴 But I’m sure it’ll lend itself to some good discussion at book club!
@@whitneydrew wow, you finished that fast! Bummer you didn’t like it 😕
Hi Whitney, I read the Vera Wong book and I loved it except for some bad language in it which I hate. I am reading Victober and enjoying it. I just read Silas Marner by George Eliot and loved it. I also read Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy and really enjoyed that. Now Starting Tess of the D’ubervilles, also by Hardy.
I read Far from the Madding Crowd earlier in the year and I really enjoyed it too. I haven’t read Tess yet, but it’s definitely on my list!
I felt the same way about Red Rising. I think you'll like Golden Son more, but it is no less violent. I LOVE Ray Bradbury!! I hope you do too. I liked Stranger Diaries. Properly intense! I've heard good things about Vera Wong. I'm reading several classics, a few spooky 🤞(at least I think they'll be spooky), and a few cozy books!
Glad to hear that about Golden Son. I hope I enjoy it! I’ve started Something Wicked this Way Comes and I’m not loving it. We will see how it progresses, I guess!
Red Rising just about killed poor Deea 😂 And yet she read the whole trilogy with me anyway haha
I have never read Frankenstein or Dracula so those are my must reads this month.
I enjoyed Dracula more than Frankenstein, personally, but I liked them both!
Glad to hear you're feeling better 😊
Thank you!
I thought I was the only one who didn’t like I’d Rather Be Reading 😂 A Natural History of Dragons was one of my favorites too! And of course Oathbringer. Basically a lot of the books I read with you were favorites 😂 The Bookshop of Dust and Dreams sounds so good!
I thought for sure I’d like it…but no. 🤣🤷🏻♀️ I can lend you Bookshop of Dust and Dreams if you want - I think Claire would enjoy it too!
@@whitneydrew yes please!
I missed your videos this summer - I'm so sorry you were ill! Glad to see you back. I really enjoyed the format of this video, alternating negatives and positives of the summer 😄 Ooh Tiffany said A Natural History of Dragons was so good so I'm so glad you liked it too! It is on my list for sure
Thank you! Glad to be back! I think you’ll enjoy it!
Welcome Back!! Happy to hear you are improving and feeling better by the day. The whole Lady Trent series is wonderful!! I didn't care for the final book (not written by Lady Trent) "Turning Darkness" - but I think I didn't care for it because it was not what I had come to expect from the series. Brandon had a best and worst! I haven't heard too much good about "Wizard", I don't think you are alone there.
Thank you!! Glad to hear the rest of the series (minus the last one) is just as wonderful as the first book!
