How To Accurately Test Aquarium Water from MarineAndReef.com
Hi, all I did was move my fish tank from one room to another room and I primed my 107 and 307 and now they’re not working and I primed them 😪🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠
I think that Salifert test is ok for KH. For PO4 (ulr) and NO3 testing( hr) I recommend HANNa checkers ( HI736, hi782)
Does this test kit work for fresh water? I have some very black algae in my tank, and I also keep snails and have noticed that over time, my snail's shells tend to erode. I didn't know that alkalinity played a factor in their shell health or the growth of algae, but am very interested in this kit now if it will work for me. I currently use strips, and for the PH and KH in particular, I don't feel give very accurate readouts. Also looking forward to the next vid, cause if I've got a KH problem, I would love to know how to fix it!
While the Checker will work, There is a big disclaimer. The range the Marine Alkalinity Checker is designed to measure is far higher than is normal for freshwater aquariums. It is better to use a basic color metric KH test for freshwater. We use the API KH test.
@marineandreefvideos6918 ok, thank you!
Wow. Lifesaver. Thank you for posting this. I was about to toss the 407 out when the priming pump plunger snapped off.
🤮🤮🤮 it worked! Now using mouth wash
I cant get it to connect with my wifi, so ive been using hotspot how do i get it to connect?
Coralife will know more about what routers they have designed the biocube to work with with, but in our experience having a dedicated 2.4g network is ideal. If you don't have one then you can buy a hot spot with one for under $40.
Non si apre cosi... si tira verso il basso le stesse maniglie di sgancio. Vedi l'istruzione prima che si rompe.
No it’s not good practice at all emptying shop water in your own tank
I would generally say you should not move any fish water from the store system to your tank. This could have disease or medications in it. In this case these came from a system with only invertebrates and no fish so there is very little chance of any disease or medications being introduced with the extra water. Additionally some invertebrates experience a large amount of stress when taken out of the water. Shrimp can't support their bodies and sea stars are known for getting air trapped in them and other inverts such as clams, and sponges can be harmed by air exposure. There are somethings where introducing some water is inevitable.
I was always told not to empty the water from the transfer bags into the tank with the new tank members. They said it was not good to put that water from the place where you bought the new tank members into your water because you could be putting ich or a virus into your tank. I noticed you put the water with the snails into the tank. Is that something that is okay to do?
You must be a beginner, sir if you took that top off like a beginner would
When taking the top off as you do is pushed down on the two gray levers push them down pull the tap off. Do not have to rip the top off like that.
I think you should be able to change color on the lightbar as well, IMO.
i scored a brand new biocube 16gallon for $40 as it was missing return pump, I so love biocubes. great video
If you need a replacement return pump. We have them. www.marineandreef.com/Coralife_Size_14_Size_16_BioCube_Pump_p/res03159.htm
Unfortunately they soo overpriced now
I just got mine from petco for $160 flat. I think that’s a absolute deal
@@cactuscreekoutfitters really where do live if u don’t mind me asking?
@@moereefer Texas. But petco has the sale
@@moereefergo to their website. They also have a discount code and free shipping. Got mine in over a week ago
T started with a biocube coralife was so happy with with my Biocube HQI metal Halide they sent me the 14 & 6 gallon back in the day. I also had the normal 29 biocube switched to retrofit led everyone was doing It was my most successful at 17 years
I love my biocube 32 gallon I hope they make it where you can change the canopy of the 32 gallon I would be doing that
I don’t think a it’s enough room for tang?
The rule we generally recommend is to have a minimum of a 4 ft tank or 50 gallons. Since this is a 4 ft 55 gallon tank it is the smallest standard sized tank we would recommend putting a tang in. This is actually part of our decision in choosing this size. We could have gone smaller and saved more money but having a tang really helps with algae control and makes keeping the aquarium much easier. We would recommend anyone with a reef tank our size or larger add a tang for algae control.
@@marineandreefvideos6918 I think it’s all about how long the tank is and specific rock scape honestly. I had yellow tang for about 14 years happily with no problems in custom 75 tank did was fine
Why float the bags if they are going to drip acclimate? Won't the bucket water cool off to room temp anyways?
@@christinebrowne385 We find that it is often best to do the temperature separately so you are not changing the temperature, salinity, pH, etc. All at the same time. It is also true that the bag temperature can change quite a bit in transport depending on the temperature of your car and how long the drive is.
Thank you so much, my primer got stuck so I might need to order a replacement or get some lubricant for it. I didn’t think it would actually work, but I’m hoping I don’t get any diseases from the water that just entered my system because I accidentally swallowed some.😢
For a 40-gal breeder what do you guys sell with a tidal type of feature (DC pumps.) Something that can be sync'd or is that not really needed? I just want the LPS to sway and not just kind of vibrate and swirl around in the middle of the tank. Also, if they are alternating does each one need to move a little more water than two shooting at each other in the middle of the tank?
For a 40 gallon I would consider Tunze 6040s. We even sell them packaged with the link cable so you can synchronize the pumps or ping pong them back and forth. The product code is RTZ60401-BUNDLE and here is a direct link to the product: www.marineandreef.com/Tunze_Turbelle_Nanostream_6040_Dual_Pump_Package_p/rtz60401-bundle.htm
Would one of the 36" Fluvals work in a 40-gal breeder for LPS, or do I need to go with two from the start? With two, is it enough light for SPS (way down the road.)
Yep for the 40 gallon 1 light would be good for a mixed LPS dominate tank and 2 would be good for a tank mixed SPS dominate tank.
@@marineandreefvideos6918 Are they not available in 36" ATM? I can't find the 46w version anywhere except in the UK.
@@msromike123 They are! Here is a link to the product www.marineandreef.com/Fluval_Sea_Marine_3_0_LED_Light_Fixture_36_p/rhg14516.htm
Non si apre cosi... Ruschi di rompere la testa. Si apre sganciando le maniglie e fare pressione su di esse e la testa si alza sola e si apre... Se fai così ti durerà poco che si spacca. Guarda le istruzioni e illustrato...
Seriously, thank you you just saved me $15-$20
Ummmm u literally made my night and my giant loaches night! Shoot, you made our whole week and year! I was getting so pissed off tonight. Seriously appreciate you more than you know! A lifesaverrr
Thank you heaps for your vid! Going to try this on my canister filter... I have been having trouble getting all the air out of the canister and it's been a bit noisy ❤
I’m excited to follow along!
I did exactly like you did. After a day of running my filter I got cloudy or murky water. I don't know why
I messed up and plugged in my filter too soon. It is now making a lot of noise in the canister. I unplugged it.
The most help and also understanding of how it works now. I just made sure the valve was closed as I filled the intake and then opened it and voila! You’re a life saver it’s been days of trying to get it to prime. The primer is essentially useless even though I replaced ut
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!!!! What a HUGE HELP! ❤🙏
Opening that top like a rookie
Now that you have taught me to manually prime my canister filter. My day is going great! Thanks for the lesson. 😊
Thanks for the video!

This actually worked 😊 Thank You.
This worked Thank you so much the end part is the one that finally got it to work

Tried all this and still not pumping :(
And you use any other diffuser accept the one they gave u??
Very good!👍
I have this problem with a brand new Fluval 307
Same. Been trying to get it started for an hour now. Never had this problem with any other filter. Brand new out the box.
had to do this today..... yes i got a mouthful
No need to use mouth.Fill the tube with water, then plug in back into the canister. It will start flowing. Unfortunately for me, the canister did not seal properly and it was gushing out the top. I did not moisten the gasket as advised, but the gasket was properly installed (per Petco employee who has three of these units). Frustrated I am running my new setup with an over the tank Marineland filter that is 30 years old. I used a gravel vacuum. So I will try again before returning.
I Don't see co² bubble...
Thank you, broken primer tip saved me tonight
So if i want to use, i just press it??
Jaron is so babygirl in this
THIS IS THE BEST PART OF THE VIDEO
I LOVE YOU TAYLOR SWIFT

When removing the filter cover, you need to use the push down levers that lifts the head of the filter from the canister. Otherwise, thank you for the effort.
