I loved the film on the surface, but when it ended knew I hadn't picked up on the subtleties and hints that were given, and am doing a little background research before re-watching. One confusion I have is, where does the name come from? Is it the name of the resort?

There’s always a sense of quiet loneliness in his films. Which ties in with his cinematography color schemes. He’s no doubt up there with the greats.

The only people that say this is an incredible movie are the ones trying to recoup their losses. One on the worst movies. Big budget Plan 9 bad.

This literally got me on Drake's side I haven't seen something so creatively disrespectful before. 6:02 this was the best Kendrick was gonna do and I expected SO MUCH from this guy with all the time he got and hype for over a decade. 7:20 this is where the beef ended and the winner was crowned 👑 the 3rd part just had me shocked he learned from pusha and used it on Kenny. 8:06 he could have won unfortunately he lied about the daughter and the allegations because if they were true at least 5 women would come out as MeToos like Jay-Z with a lawsuit and I don't see any. Kendrick was just not ready to beef with anyone.

Cinematography is great , as you would expect from a Fincher flick Soundtrack is great , as you would expect from a Fincher flick ( reznor , atticus ) Pretty weak story which is not something you would expect from a Fincher flick

To let you know that spider man with Miguel while the dimension is getting destroyed that spider man is Peter b Parker because if u see the wrist he has the watch and there is a scene with him without his masked and it’s him so yeah

"Didn't need to make it," that's true of every Indiana Jones movie. That's part of the charm of Indiana Jones. Contained stories, with new characters and situations to enjoy an adventure as well as explore the single character of Indiana Jones. And I think the idea of aging Indiana Jones is a great story to explore. I also think the movie does a great job at doing that, *at times* 😅 You're 100% correct it's too long, it's messy with his age + cgi, to me the time travel feels like a bit much. There is something missing here that ended up making this movie feel only good / okay. But I don't think it has anything to do with the movie being needless.

My only addition is more a clarification: the key to Mann's coolness is the combination of emotional realism with heightened color. He puts a lot of effort and research into depicting the realities of his characters, and their emotions, but he does not shoot the world just as-is. He and his DPs more often than not elevate sequences with fully realized color palettes, which often ties into costume designs and other art direction elements. Dante Spinotti, who lensed Manhunter and Heat among others, always regarded the color blue as a rather romantic color, and thusly washes certain scenes in both in a breathtaking shade. The "coolness" of Mann's films is partly in the literal "coolness" of the color palette. Blues in Heat and Manhunter, greens in Thief, that jaw-dropping purplish sunset boat-ride from "The Keep," etc. He depicts realistic events and characters, but elevates the image of world around them to reflect on these emotional states.

His movies lives off realism perfect example the shootout scene in heat, there is no background music or filler sounds, just raw gun fire and terror

This is one terrific film. It’s NOT a Cinderella story. Anora wants it to be one, she’s experienced luxury she never had before. But one look at that mother-in-law and anything dream-like disappears. How she fights, poor girl, but the Prince ran out on her and she’s pretty much on her own now.

Hitcockish but not quite. All style & little substance and depth. Fantasy Bollywoody k-pop and nothing more

Those flashbacks to Reagan and Roosevelt... It's chilling to see that and know how applicable both statements are in late 2024. If we don't learn from the mistakes of the past, we're doomed to repeat them until we do.

Apparently, he takes nothing from other movies, which is the standard nowadays. He goes straight to the source. eg if he's writing about criminals he talks to criminals. Someone like Tarrantino will take a scene from an old movie about criminals. Nolan constantly will take a scene from another film.

The Insider deservers another watch.
