    Ive said it a million times. The Red Bull Strait rhythm should be a series that travels all over the US. Do it on Wednesday or Thursday that supercross is. A big issue is the races aren't in every state. and most people don't want to drive 5 hrs one way to see a race. Even better put Straight Rhythm is cities where supercross isn't. And Supercross and Motorcross need to have an open class which is ride what you brought

    IMO they are being pimped by the promoters, and they need to demand their cut. When a promoter doesn't pay the flaggers and yet charges $200.00 for someone to sleep in a tent you got problems. Motocrossers that make the National and only get $400.00...rise up riders, get a union and demand your share, they are playing you.

    NASCAR has major corporate sponsors, not just energy drinks and gear manufacturers. If Home Depot sponsored a Plessinger’s KTM team, and other brands had DuPont, Walmart, Chevron, etc sponsoring… then salaries would change. We’d also lose out on seeing privateers compete.

    Well, one problem is maybe some people don’t want to subscribe to Peacock to watch it. Secondarily, it’s not like there are basketballs, footballs, and dirtbikes to choose from in the elementary school gym. The typical urban or suburban kid has no exposure. I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm where I could keep a dirtbike and ride it every day. I had no parental support, so I was in my mid 20s before I had a chance to race for real.

    God please dont even joke about making SX/MX like f1! Dont ever wish that on anybody. And honestly it can never be like ball sports either.The fan base- and thus the money available - isnt there and never will be. As far as most people are concerned,we are idiots doing pointlessly dangerous stuff and we don't even have the smarts to get out of the dirt😄 Personally i'm super happy dirt bike racing still exists at the level it does.We're doing pretty damn good all things considered

    Put the coverage back like it was, no more pay subscription for starters. Next, tell monster energy and the networks to invest more money into mainstream media advertising, riders on beer cans, energy drink cans, on Dorito bags and so on. "YOUR NAME HERE,, proud sponsors of AMA supercross and motocross" advertising is key.

    I don't know! Aaron's view is interesting, but I don't think there's any eureka moment that puts MX on the radar (although there are a few things that'd help*). There's simply very little underlying demand for MX bikes/off road bikes. People need to connect with a sport to consume it/watch it. For F1 or NASCAR, cars are part of everyone's upbringing and a portion of us develop a passion for them which fuels competition. So the population size is enormous. (More recently, Netflix helped new viewers 'connect' with the drivers.) For soccer, basketball or football we all grew up with some connection to field sport - it's a core part of most communities and schools. So again, the underlying demand is big. These were also big sports before salaries went bananas. Even take MotoGP, while not huge relative to other sports, the amount of folks with road bikes is several multiples of those with off-road bikes. The salary argument might help boost interest (for the reason Aaron shared), but it isn't the underlying driver. Look at Ireland where we fill Europe's 3rd largest stadium (Croke Park) several times per year to watch *unpaid* GAA players represent their counties in Hurling and Gaelic Football. These players don't get paid, but about one-third of the country tunes in because there is a strong underlying connection to the sport. During the week these superstar players work in the local banks, schools, car dealerships and so on, even though they are every bit as athletic as a pro footballer. Similar with Rugby. Until more recently, Rugby players were paid far less than top MX riders, but the fanbase is huge in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc. If we want MX to grow, we need more people riding MX bikes. I think that's the key thing! But it's not easy because those outside the sport think of it as dangerous and riders as thugs! *One thing that would help though would be free-to-air streaming. The governing bodies (FIM and AMA) put restrictions on viewing rights, but this limits the audience size to those already in the audience. It's very hard to grow when there are restrictions on viewing. Maybe limit viewing of the final rounds of the championships, but not every race. Of course, this would require a few years to subsidise the video production in the hopes viewership would grow to a point it can be self-funded through ad revenue. That's a big 'IF'.

    I’ve raced motocross for nearly 40 years and there is only 1 thing holding it back and it’s been the same thing for those and more years. The television coverage does not get the casual viewer invested in the riders enough. The coverage needs to get the casual viewer more invested into the riders lives and do more personality based stories like they are now doing on Race Day Live. You have to get the whole family hooked into the experience not just the racer in the family. You gotta get more in depth discussions on the bikes and performance aspects to get the gear heads involved.

    Motocross is also a rich kid sport whether they like to believe it or not. Many people don't understand the skill involved with motorcycle racing. People can not get involved as easily. Everybody Drives a car. Everybody can swing a bat, afford a mit and play catch. Everybody can throw a football in their backyard or have a Thanksgiving game. Motocross...well, it's like wake boarding, snow skiing and cage fighting. Less people can connect to it and relate. It's expensive really! You can't just go to the gym down the street or your back yard and dream of being a pro. Overcome those hurdles, add some really good/better marketing campaigns and then, you might find a bigger piece of the pie. Until then, I'm a big fan and rooting for you all. Although, I do have my favorites...AP for the win!!! 👊😉

    The problem is most people can try to hit a golf ball or play soccer or a tennis ball, etc etc, if you don’t ride ya don’t follow it, ya didn’t play MX/SX in school, only kids of parents with cash played MX/Sx as kids. So most spectators of sports don’t even have Dirtbikes on the radar, F1 etc is on free to air, so even if ya never driven a go cart you do own a car so people sort of get into it. Dirt bikes are something I love, but not many I know could careless, even brutal tracks don’t appeal to the average punter because they don’t know how brutal it is, they’re never done a ride in there life. My mother used to asked me why I was worn out after a dirt ride , what ever the ride. As far as she was concerned I had a motor, it wasn’t a push bike so why was I puffed out. She didn’t know didn’t care, just seen the sport as easy and pointless. She loved V8 supercars/Nascar/F1 & football/Rugby/Golf etc etc, as far as mum was concerned these sports were gold & the people playing very talented & deserved all the respectin the world.

    It takes a minute to understand it. When you see the ruts after a SX race and then know the speeds and the distance they fly to land in a deep rut 10" wide on the gas. Then you can appreciate it being bigger than 4 grand slams in the same game by the same person. these jumps and ruts are all over the entire course and usually 20+ laps. Crazy amount of work over years starting from childhood gets a fraction of a fraction of these Pros at compete at this level

    • @kingGar27
      @kingGar27 5 месяцев назад

      That's also true. Folks I have shown MX to over the years think "oh that seems easy... can you do all that too?" (answer: "hell no!"). Whereas when they watch F1 or NASCAR they think "wow, that's scary fast". MX isn't a fast sport. It's more technical, which means you need to have tried it to appreciate it.

    Supercross needs Netflix to do a drive to survive style docu series on the sport. the explosion of F1 in the USA in the recent years can be directly traced to that. I agree the pay would help but the sport also has to generate the income. NFL has such massive tv deals that money directly effects the salary caps for teams. F1 also has massive budgets but the viewer numbers has to be there too. that's why something like a behind the scenes docu series that follows racers outside of the track and creates other storylines would bring people in. why do you think Deegan is so popular. its because they have built that online audience by showing a closer look inside of their family and what "makes them tick" Motocross is one of the toughest sports in the world. The edge of total success and failure is so razor thin that would keep audiences attention and drive them to want more. Tell the stories, story telling always wins when done right.

    The fact that in Canada as well as many other countries I have to pay over $200 a year to watch supercross when before it used to be on my regular TV that I was paying for anyway is a major problem. Motocross is such a sophisticated sport that most people can't relate to it. Stick and ball sports are much more relatable to people because most everyone has tried them with very little obstacles to overcome. Regular sports are much more accessible to people and easier to get into that's why they are so much more popular. Motocross is much harder to get into and participate in even at the most basic levels. Everyone drives a car and can relate to cars racing that's why forms of car racing is popular, people again can relate to it. That's why motocross will never go mainstream and that's kinda a good thing IMO. More growth would be great and is achievable though, just not the mainstream levels.

    So yes motorcycles are expensive, that’s a thing. Putting that aside. What I see as a problem in the competitive side of things. Is the way the leagues are structured. You have children in the professional league… not in their own youth class, but with the adults… and you wonder why this sport isn’t working well? So the amateur leagues suck and get no attention from spectators because the competition isn’t there and there is no prizes available to anyone that does well except for first place in AA class. So nobody cares. If you are a gifted rider you can’t go pro/simi pro unless you drop out of school at 15. As much as people want to complain about the expense, this is a blue collar sport. You can’t participate in these races to get ranked and work a mostly full time job. It’s a blue collar sport, how about making it so blue collar people can participate in a series (amateur obviously) not just the one or two “local” races. One last thing- the expense of watching these pro races on pay-per-view is so high. What do you expect? I know technically you can watch on another site, but it’s live broadcast on a lame stream service that nobody wants/uses. Put the races on RUclips for free. I love watching the races, but I’m not going to pay that much every time. Some races are exciting enough to be worth it. But a lot of them aren’t. I’m not a comi, but the price is ridiculous. You can make it free on RUclips and monetize to make a lot of money. The reason it’s not more popular is the industries fault. Never wanting to give back, always taking that includes the pro athletes. Your league structure is retarded and inaccessible.

    Easy, this sport takes so long to get good enough to compete, kids are basically homeschooled in a RV, equity out of the house they once had to afford it, then when they get to the level, 17 year old walks up for an interview, sounds like he has a 5th grade education, why? because he essentially does. They would need to hire voice coaches, etiquette coaches of how to act when around a class of people that you want to have invested in you, that would also destroy the sport, they would bring in new rules, safety and environmental. To pay for the increase in salaries, Bikes and Gear would cost 10x. which would take it away from it's roots. $$$ rules and it cost too much for the average person to get into, F1 drivers come from money, moto riders do not.

  • @SketchyXC

    Cost of entry is a barrier for sure, but the bigger issue is access to ride/practice. A kid can go to a neighborhood park with his buddies and play all day. They cant load their bike up and drive an hr+ to get to a track, and many dont have access to property next to their home to ride.

    • @Bobarooni
      @Bobarooni 5 месяцев назад

      This is Huge!!! Most places have no place to ride and if they do alot are open for a few years and then close down. I've been watching this for decades and God forbid you bring your son on his Crf 50 to put around a field on the side of the road. Instant Police presence. I think the AMA needs to get involved and open some riding areas. It doesn't have to be groomed mx tracks, just somewhere to ride. That'll never happen

    They need to do more for privateers. If a guy can qualify for 80% of the mains then they should be getting a piece of the pie. Travel money, no gate fees, and a modest salary. Without the privateers its hard for people to realize how good the top guys are. Also, the top guy need to stop bitching about lappers. Lappers are part of racing and you're expected to deal with it.

    • @justincoats7236

      Why do "they" need to do more. Who volunteers to do more for anyone in a business. Keep showing up unrepresented and keep getting screwed over. The privateers are screwing themselves over. Take the same 10 riders that make the main and finish out of the points and put them on one team. The team bargains for the pay to put on the show. This wont work because there is another bunch of idiot privateers waiting in line to put on the show for free.
