That is NOT bypassing the security , that's disabling it. You can NOT bypass it.

Does ANYONE have an actual schematic or service manual for this terminal? The User Manual is online, but multiple sources say that there is no schematic or service manual anywhere on the internet.
There is a part number listed for the service manual. But they appear as if most of the service centers have thrown out all the documents. I’m hoping someone will have a copy and scan it. There were two versions of the ADM31.
@@rick601a It looks to me like there is a version with dip switched on the back and a version with rotating dials like we have. Do you know which version is earlier? Are there other differences? And then there is the sales brochure, which shows a version with all dark keys and a brightness control on the keyboard!
@@rivards1 Logic board 129889 has the thumb wheel baud rate switches and the option for composite video. Also the 129889 uses a 55 volt Ball brothers monitor chassis. The 132410 logic board uses the dip switches for baud rate setup. And the 15 volt Samsung monitor and no composite video option. They appear to be different keyboard switches as well between the models and firmware locations as well. My guess is the 129889 logic board looks older but it also has a special IC as well like a program logic array IC which doesn’t look to be in the 132410 logic board. That also being said the power supply modules will not exchange between them because one is 55 volt monitor Ball Brothers and 15 volt Samsung. The 132410 logic I’m thinking is newer. The maintenance manual part number is DP310 And Parts Catalog is DP711 if anyone can still locate the manuals hopefully they will scan them as they are greatly needed for us all who have the ADM31 series

Off being displayed is a delay where it will have to sit till the timer runs out. Usually with key on for possibly 20 minutes then off should go away. It’s happened with too many wrong codes being entered

I will check on the pin outs of the connector for the data lines. And power and ground as well I do repairs for radio stations and was doing Delco car stereo equipment back in the 80’s and 90’s era before getting into broadcast engineering. If you have someone on staff that is technically able to follow the pin outs and wire up the unit I can see about finding the pin outs and there is a test sequence that should unlock the radio for a few minutes at a time for test. I mentioned the button sequence in the comment. But I will look them up tomorrow as I’m not in front of the manuals at the moment. Also if you don’t have a technician on staff I could test the radio if you sent it well packed to me along with return postage as well. The only issues is if there is a problem I will be limited on parts as most of the parts are similar to other GM units but most likely the parts will be discontinued leaving to try and source used similar parts.
@@rick601a Thanks for getting back. We have a technician on staff if needed, but could also send the radio to you. We do not have the setup you have though. This would just be for another video to see if it at least would power on. What is your location?
Also forgot to mention there is a GM lan on module two types available that is if they are still available that will nicely simulate the BCM turn on can data to the radio allows you to operate these Lan on GM radios. Search for GM Lan on. There two versions. Usually the lower bit units have worked on basic units and higher bit units for navigation units with LCD touch units. Just something to look into if you plan on using the radio at some point other than test.
gsdistributingcompany.com/products/lan11on here is an example of the module that will allow you to turn on the radio out of the vehicle for display. Not sure if yours is 11 bit or not without documentation but it’s a good start with the era of the unit. I’m located in Virginia

It’s confusing. If the red wire to the logic inverter is removed BEFORE the security “feature” is triggered, the radio can be removed and installed without worry. BUT, What he doesn’t say, is that once you pull the radio out it’s too late. The radio is junk until you have it reset by Becker or with m.b tool. At this point removing the security wire makes sense. The single piece of missing information is how to reset a security locked radio without the tool. Nobody seems to know.
Look carefully at the rest of the videos that I have done there is a link to the reset it’s complicated without the tool but I show how one can be built but not easily done. It’s very difficult and tricky

Sounds if there is a timer running because too many wrong tries. Radio will have to sit key on till the time runs out then try the procedure after the timer is done

@@d_brazzyy2866 leave the radio powered up. The timer will run out and off will go away. Then you can try the process.
@@rick601a I did it, I followed the procedure step by step, at the end I disconnected and connected again, but it didn't work. I also left the switch in step II, more than two hours, but it didn't work either.
Sure, I have Sony TV model 1995. But it was quite discomfort due to weight then low-res.

Thanks for documenting this Rick. This brings back so many memories. I remember when my Dad bought this unit for WRGS in the early 80s and we were all in such awe by how high tech and advanced it was for a small radio station at that time. I started working with it in about 1986 and spent several years programming it. Every day we would print out a paper log file from our TRS-80 on a dot matrix printer then walk back to the automation and type in the sequence of numbers that each represented songs, commercials, etc. It took about 30 minutes to type it all in daily. There was what we called a "Safety Sub-Routine" block which if it ran out of stuff to play but the hour wasn't finished it would just rotate songs between the 3 Otari reel to reels. There was also a black 3 stack ITC Delta cart machine which sat right on top of that middle unit. The top slot was for top of the hour station ids and the other 2 were for instrumental backfill music used to fill time gap if needed to the top of the hour when the automation would open the channel for ABC radio network news which lasted 4 minutes then a cart would play with pre-recorded local news for 1 minute then back to music which in the 1980s was a mix of country and some adult contemporary. We were live in the mornings from 6am - 11am when the swap shop show ended then "Dolly" took over for the rest of the day, every day.

No this is not on the lighting
also, input power is 9-16V. it was ac/ac adapter originally. i have a old at&t answering machine ac-ac adapter with 768ma.
the display dimming is because its in power saving mode. negative is on the center connector for power saving mode. this will shut the display off after you stop using the tuning knob. get an ac to ac adapter with center positive to keep the display on.
