A Note to Self on This Winter Solstice:
Today, on this winter solstice, I want to take the time to acknowledge that we are living on the land of Indigenous peoples.
The winter solstice marks the longest night and the shortest day of the year-a moment of deep stillness and reflection, where the cycle of darkness gives way to the returning light. It’s a time to pause, honor the past, and look toward renewal. Just as the solstice represents the rebirth of the Sun, it is also a reminder that healing and change are always possible, even after the longest, darkest periods.

Acknowledging that we are on native land-Turtle Island, Tiohtià’ke-reminds me of the importance of being self-aware ...
