Super high yield 8min investment for squash. Thanks so much!!!!
Question where on the front wall are you aiming?
You do not aim on the front wall to get repetitive quality depth as this will change depending on how are you are away from the front wall and how hard you hit it. Similarly you do not aim where you want it to finish, you aim where you want the first bounce to land. Do this and your targets will improve dramatically.
Your movement is so, so good Gary!. It is almost therapeutic to watch you move so effortlessly and smoothly around the court 🏃♂
Awesome video as usual. Thanks so much
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Great video !
Thanks
Low balls like that I can slam in the nick but anything above my head I can never pull off
Thank you, Gary! So many great gems. You put out the best squash game analyses on YT.
It is always good to stop and think why a player lost or won a rally not just look at the scoreboard. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Super good analysis, thanks.
Thanks
One of the best movement videos!
More interesting videos coming. Glad you liked it.
love it!
Thanks
Love it..I'm on this next few solo sessions. Thanks
Let me know how you go
The shuffle decreases your moment of inertia because your legs line up with your rotational axis. This makes your turn faster, especially when you do it standing upright.
Your shuffle also happens just after you hit, well before your opponent can hit the ball so you move a great distance with minimal effort then make court position to cover the next shot.
When last did they paint the walls 😅
Don't think they ever have, it is a Tennis club so not as much maintenance on squash as Tennis
very nice video king/
Glad you enjoyed it.
love it!!
Thanks
Спасибо большое за такой совет!
Tried this last night. Only managed the first part of turning the palm downwards. Makes the swing and body solid. Brilliant
Upwards not down. But you know what I mean!
@@BhaveshPatel-mx5pm As you get better it mostly comes down to smaller swing and stronger muscle engagement, the turning your left hand upside down engages your body from the start.
love it
It works amazingly well. It can transform your game if you have been having trouble with your forehand.
Thank you, Gary! Love the bite-sized actionable tips.
There should be something for everyone no matter the standard. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks Garry, another great episode 👍
You are welcome.
Best RUclips channel! Great Nintendo vibes

Thanks for the feedback I am still trying to work out if people like the SquashFit tv format and if it is wort the huge time commitment to make them.
@@squashanalysis5670 I like it but I've seen these bits on your other videos; I've seen the majority and some I've viewed several times. I can appreciate it takes a lot of your time though.
@@swingeasyguy I have plenty of new SquashFit tv resource on the way, I was experimenting up till now to get the formular right so I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Happy for an feedback of how to make hem better.
@@squashanalysis5670 Looking foward to them, will let you know of suggestions, Happy New Years!
Hi, just I tried to apply the engaged body on the t while watching my opponent hitting the ball but I can only find it very helpful if I have time to recover to the t and stabilise myself with knees bent on both feet, however, most of the time I was under high pressure behind my opponent so I find little time being able to reach this engaged position so I find it more effective to step on one foot and hop to where the ball is played...is this also fine?
Yep, that is exactly what you do in a high paced game. The trick is to have an engaged body as you get back to the T allowing a strong split.
@squashanalysis5670 so may be I need to lean my torso forward even under pressure
Hi Garry, thanks for all your content, how would you describe what your hand and wrist is doing? especially through impact.
Everything is about keeping your wrist in line with the floorboard, using body turn early and then not much after impact. Your wrist comes in to become connected to your core muscles on impact generating strength through the shot and your wrist brings the racquet to the right line with a flowing movement rather than a sudden flick, follow through is then toward the front wall. Hope this helps.
Control in hitting & accuracy is so important and so many players do not understand this!
I didn't understand it when I was young, just wanted to hit hard but when you get to a certain standard it is critical making the difference between winning and losing. If I had learnt this earlier I may have been so much better.
Keep the good work 👏
Thanks, just using different methods to teach the same message and it all comes together to form a strong understanding of the critical components of the swing.
Thanks Garry, that backhand target hitting drill at the start is brilliant!. Tried it and it is a real workout having to move to the back of the service box instead of the T area.
I have made hundreds of short clips like this so as long as the SquashFit tv format is popular with views and likes I will make more. Glad it helped you.
Those eighties visual effects between video's 😂 But good content though
Glad you lied it. I will do more as long as I get the views and likes.
What is the difference between the slide boast and the normal attacking boast? (If I understood correctly, it’s about the drastic lowering of the racket head and the direction of the swing... is that right?) By lowering the racket head so early and making the swing parallel to the side wall, aren’t we giving away our intention to the opponent too soon? (Since there aren’t many other shots executed with a similar technique.)
By lowering the head it looks more like a drive than a usual boast very deceptive and quick
@kiwikiwi223 looks like a driver? I never drop the racket head if I wanna hit a drive
@MsSly66 it happens to fast for you to see. Win points off boasts like this all day opponent can't read them
@@kiwikiwi223 What do you mean? When I hit a drive, I can't get the racket head down properly, either quickly or slowly. The fact that in the first phase of the swing, the racket head lags behind the forearm movement and ends up lower than its starting position is another issue. Proper execution of an attacking boast shot also involves trying to conceal for as long as possible that the ball will head toward the side wall and not the front wall. This is achieved by a sudden change of direction with the wrist.
@MsSly66 the drive is usually hit with the racket being parallel with the floor when you hit it. keep practicing especially with the angle of the racket to hit the ball towards the wall instead of hitting the ball at the wall.
Garry when hitting your target do you feel where you want to hit the ball on the wall, or where you want it to land on the floor? (or both) Subtle distinction but perhaps one produces a better result then the other?
Definitely where it lands, you use the front wall as a height gauge so you can get a consistent outcome at the pace you normally hit. Depth is critical and if you can hit tight to the wall depth there is no stopping you. You can hit too deep as well so control of depth is a elite player skill which takes a lot of time to master so start now.
@@squashanalysis5670 😊
Your videos are gold. They help me think about my shot and movement differently (to my benefit). E.g., “snap hitting” has massively increased my deception. I am looking forward to trying this out!
This will change everything for your boast, you will never look back. Just don't go crazy with it, there is a reason boasts are used sparingly in PSA squash, get it slightly wrong and you open yourself up so make sure you have good body control before choosing to boast.
I love doing this shot. Why does cutting the ball make it drop faster? Does the ball actually rotate backwards off the side wall and front wall making it drop faster? And also, are you trying to put just enough power on it to hit the front wall above the tin and no more? As in, you're not trying to hit it really hard so that it goes quickly?
The cut holds the ball on the racquet longer giving greater feel and control. It will help the ball die slightly quicker with the rubber ball reacting to the cut spin making it drop when it hits a wall. You can hit hard as long as you keep it low and it will still have 2 bounces on the floor as long as you aim it right but dropping the pace slightly will give more control and help it die.
Now I wish I could get 25 years younger and be in her place haha. Keep it on!
I wish I knew then all that I know now.
This is very good content. Cheers from Sweden!
Thanks, you can not do this unless you have time on the ball and capable muscle control. I try and keep the content with modern concepts and engaging. Merry Christmas from Australia.
@@squashanalysis5670 Yes exactly. You probably have to have 4000+ squash level to do this. Before you get to that level there are more fundamental problems you have to solve. Note: The concept you are describing in the video shortens your swing and increases your power and therefore makes the player hit the ball with power out of situations in the back where you have less space.
@@yelow989898 I see it as having multiple uses like the situation you described but it also used coming off the ball from the front forehand and can be felt if you concentrate on getting out not on the hit and you will activate your exit muscles earlier. It is useful if you find yourself too close to the ball but does require trained muscles as you suggested. As soon as players realize true power and control comes from muscle strength not racquet speed shots like this are very attainable. I can tell you are an accomplished player and it is always good to get opinions from experienced higher level players. Thanks.
I'm squash club player and I like so much your videos. I'm from Spain, from Bilbao. Because of your videos I'm improving my squash. Thus I am coach for some kids. If you come to Bilbao you are invited our club LA Benedicta Squash. Two months ago was Borja Golan. Thanks for your fantastic work
Thanks so much, I do like to coach when I travel having coached in Singapore, India, Austria and in many states in Australia. I will keep it in mind for future trips. If you can share this video on your club socials that would help me greatly, thanks for the kind comments.
Are you snapping up then immediately hitting or are you hitting as the snap upwards happens
You snap to a very strong body position at point of impact often giving you a fully extended arm even when the ball is close resulting in power. Everything is about the point of impact and full body engagement.
Ok. Thanks. Think it will take some practice!
Zero coaching content look at me😂
Salty cause you suck at the sport?
What is your string model and tension please?

@squashanalysis5670 Thanks. Please do more review of new squash rackets so that viewers can make better decisions when purchasing the rackets. Hope more manufacturers can provide you with their new rackets for testing too. Great videos.
Gary are you saying the volley should be hit with a flat racket face, not open?
For a deep volley you straight line your wrist more coming through the line of the ball finishing with a short follow through. For a drop volley you cut with an open face and take the pace off the ball.
@@squashanalysis5670 Makes great sense, thanks!
Worked on it today, not that easy, but I can see how depth and return of depth will improve!! Do you do video coaching?

@@squashanalysis5670 will do at some point, thanks!
The learning points are brilliant as usual. 😊
Glad you liked it, depth is the key to winning matches, watch the change in your game after you master it.
I watched this video yesterday and just came back from the court to try it out; my swing is more flat (been playing for over 30 years). the forehand was amazing, harder lower more consistent shots; the backhand won't come as easy, I get it sometimes but will need a lot of work to the point I don't have to think about it. Wonderful way in which you communicate a concept. Thanks.
You are right the backhand is harder, practice, practice, practice! Thanks for the feedback.
Awesome Gary; I've actually just started working on these ghosting patters this week with 5 dots representing 5 usual landing spots for balls down each side, and walking the movements, as my movements have been very unsmooth.
When you get the rhythm and timing of the movements all will be comfortable and super energy efficient. You can mix it up with dots in different areas as you have and remember to train mostly at the back backhand where most of the play is and where it is most difficult to get power requiring greater body prep.
@@squashanalysis5670 Thanks!
Thanks, I've never practiced this drill; will try it this week!
You will be surprised how much better your depth will become.
Thank you - this becomes tough the harder you hit. Will introduce this to my routine. 🙏👍
Enjoy the challenge.

I’m a fan from China. I love squash and I am training to be a squash coach. This is a common problem with Chinese beginners since people play badminton or table tennis more often. The training part is very helpful for me and now I know how to teach beginners! Check the watch! Brilliant!
It does require weekly 5 minute sessions as part of your coaching session until it is locked in thanks for liking the video and your feedback.
Thank u
Thanks for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed the content.
Excellent and insightful
Watch the difference by having someone hit a couple of forehand drives then do the push test and watch the power and control of the next forehand hits, it is unbelievable how good this is. Thanks for your input.
