As a stacker, lucky dips are fine. As a coin collector, I would be a little frustrated and want to flip a coin or bar I didn't like and that might have poorer quality to a new one eg. scratched capsule, tarnish or milk spots.

I will always stop for a scottsdale mint video!

Heres a fair idea to consider that minimizes extra work but gives buyers a better idea of what they expect to receive. Make categories of buyback coins, Category 1- Mint LBMA reg. As new in capsule. Cat 2- Mint LBMA reg. Not as new but good condition. Cat 3- Non LBMA, Silver Rounds, and LBMA blemished. Cat 4 - LBMA reg. Bars cast or minted. Cat 5- Non LBMA reg bars. I boiught a few buyback bars recently from another shop that when arrived were non LBMA, the brand new PM 1kg bars were only $9 aud per kg extra, I'd have rather paid the $9 for the LBMA registered product and Perth Mint product, I got Aussie no name bars, still nice though but not as saleable or appealing.

I respect that you offer the free 3 months, but, I think it is up to you to to send out the invoice for shipping when the time is up. It is fine by me that I get an invoice for shipping when my time is up.

One risk is people who have sold you bullion at buyback prices, then see you selling the same bullion with a premium price attached to it. Not sure that is the right way to engender customer satisfaction.

Lucky dip I reckon

Just make sure the premium on the buybacks is lower than new perth mint basic stuff. E.g. lets say you buyback a bunch of as new kooks or lunars in a roll of 20, list them maybe at 3 or 4 over spot vs 7 over spot for new 1oz kangas/swanlogo perth mint bars. IMHO I would not pay 4 or 5 over spot for random stuff as I would not be able to resell that myself to other stackers/private buyers. I would rather get a 10oz/1kg cast bar, much more liquid and lower premium than the "low premium" most dealers tout.

Certainly an incentive to pick up buy backs from you guys then!

Absolutely separate them as much as possible before it affects the price too much. E.g. kookaburras, maples, buffalos etc

I would like to pay a little bit more, knowing what you're getting. Gives me a chance to manage my collections

Challenges are handling equals additional costs, the whole concept about buybacks is to get them at buyback rate, so my input would be - luck dip, you get what you get because you’re only paying for buyback there’s never a complaint only a bonus if you get something different 👍

Maybe do a mid category where you sell buybacks in new condition at a hgher price but allowing your customers get to choose and know what they are buying? your business can improve it's margin for the extra work at your end? Everyone wins. Then again if it waters down the quality of the buybacks that is an issue.I would definitely like to see buyback bars sold separately to buyback coins.

Dont call them Buy back. Grade them on condition like a coin. A tube of mint dragons, is mint dragons. The person who sold it may have never taken them out the tube...like myself. Call them "mint".

In my opinion, if someone tells you guys that they’re looking for a particular coin/bar then you should note it and if/when someone sells you that coin/bar then I think you guys should drop a quick phone call to us customers who are after that particular coin.. example if a 2024 1/4 Proof Kook came along (like the one pictured in the 1/4ozt buybacks) I would love for you guys to call me and say “yo dude, it’s Ricky we’ve managed to get that coin that you’ve been looking for as a buyback. Then I would expect you to sell it to me at a price somewhere between what a buyback would be and the current value if bought new. Prolly only with gold coins and bars and your bigger silver bars 10oz+. Anything smaller in silver would just be a head f and too many different ones to choose from..

Maybe a 50/50 approach where you only do it on half of the lots? But if you do go cherry picking and charging a premium on them then the lots they came from maybe discounted? Or linked to the spot price exactly? But hard one. Personally i like a lucky dip any day

You never know how busy you are going to get in your business day, why make it any harder than what it is? Throw them all in a big container, and just have your staff grab how many the customer needs. You're asking for peoples opinions and you're going to get many. Sometimes you have got to do what is best for your business and I purchase 90% buybacks. I have gotten some really nice, way below retail coins, but I am yet to get one that has history, scratches, dents, milk spots, ect. I'm in it for the weight not the prettiness.

I would rather know what I am buying than a lucky dip. But that’s just my opinion.

I'd prefer just to have bars and coins listed separately. Save yourself the trouble of sorting any more than that. I was a bit disappointed when I saw BN listing Perth mint and other coins separately even in silver. It's half the fun knowing it's truly random, like a lucky dip. Obviously if you get some really rare gold list it up separately or auction it but for silvers, throw it in the pile.

Yes, I think you should Ricky for good buybacks.- cat1- bars and rounds cat2 - coins PM/RAM cat3 - world coins. I would always pay more for Aussie coins over rounds/bars etc. If the buy backs are in bad condition enter them under a "scratch and dent"

No do not cherry pick just seperate coin from bar and sell as a buyback, if you wish to add what it is thats up to you but price should not change, if its something sort after it will just sell faster.

I think that if you find a gold Lunar Mouse or something else nice, which is in as new condition, it's only right that it get pulled out and sold for a greater premium over spot than a random buy-back, as long as it's labelled as such. Why? Because it helps those of us trying to fill holes in our collections to be able to also be a part of this filtering of the buy-backs process and then it'll go to a home which really appreciates it. I would only disagree if you were putting an outrageous premium on top. But the premium has to be enough that it's not just instantly cherry-picked by other dealers, then resold on their websites for 20% (for gold i'm talking about) over spot or something for a one ounce or much higher for fractionals like tenths (i've seen this process happen several times now from another popular website, to my great irritation). Anyway, my two cents. I'm sure you'll have buy-back aficionadoes with a completely contrary conception of the matter. But they're wrong, hahah.

Need your opinion! Should we cherry pick our gold and silver buy backs (like most dealers do) and then sell the "good ones" at a higher premium (even as new) OR should it be an ALL IN situation and treat it purely like a lucky dip?
