Not showing the name of the games in a written way is a cardinal sin and just bad. You had one job.
From what I've been able to found in the internet, the most likely reason Legendary Axe is not in the Mini is because its rights are currently in a legal limbo.
@@yoman8027 That is unfortunate.
@@littleakibagames Yeah, it sucks. Some great games are in a similar situation, where no one claimed their rights and they cannot be republished until more years pass and someone buy the rights. Happened too to Smash T.V. and Diet Go Go.
9:16 do you even understand how development goes? Daishi was not the problem for what happened with SCV but it was the publisher pressure. And even if so it has been already 12 years since that so he probably have changed and improved from that time, he already worked for many sega games after SCV that were deemed as successful and he was also involved in both VF5us/eS & R.E.V.O. It’s already been hinted that VF6 is about to be a time skip in timeline which of itself is already acceptable by many people. His relationship with SC is just a thing from the past, we need to move on from that.
If the switch 2 is backwards compatible it would be super smart to announce it now like the leaks suggest because then current switch owners will look at the holiday games and be like "adding more to my switch 2 library"
emulation is one of the best thing in pc gaming. trying cult classic you couldn't try at the time, discovring a hidden gyms, playing a fan translated game that was never released outside japan or an undupped patch, gives you a new appreciation to the mediam especially with all the customization you can add to make practically a remaster catring to you. I personaly prefer to downscale psx games and add scanline shaders to help blend the 2d and 3d assets in the game, there's a nice guide for that by a channel called "ggdeku" i highly reccomend it
I'm gonna laugh when they switch it up on everyone, and it's been "Switch Too" the whole time
I didn't think I could give my money to something so cringy. LOL
To me, it really depends on what Nintendo is going to focus on. If Nintendo did their job right, and the Switch 2 dev kit is familiar to developers, then it would not be out there to think they could get it done. We are past the days when working on a new system meant having to completely re-learn the entire development process. So, the spin-up time for Switch 2 is likely going to be pretty quick. While eighteen months isn't enough time for a huge brand new title, it is plenty of time for smaller, more focused titles, and of course, for upgrades of current Switch titles. So to me, this does track for the most part. And setting the launch in May doesn't seem like a knee-jerk reaction. Nintendo's fiscal year starts in April, so that would put the Switch 2 right at the beginning, and give them four full quarters of sales. Well, Three and two-thirds, but that's splitting hairs. We all know that launch is going to more than make up for not having that initial month.
@@nightbirdds So I didn't factor a learning curve into my development timetable but I did make three calculated assumptions about the development process, and you can probably evaluate their validity better than I can. 1. That it couldn't start in earnest without the devkits being in-hand. 2. That anything above pure shovelware would require at least a two-year development cycle. 3. That while preliminary work can always occur on PC, any such attempt to hit the ground running would be undermined by the 2022 devkit recall and subsequent uncertainty about architecture. All of this would put the start of Switch 2 game development around mid to late summer 2023 by my estimation, and that's what I've been basing pretty much everything on. Is it possible that more preliminary work than I suspected could have taken place on PC, and even some work from the Not-Switch-2 kits (the ones Digital Foundry said were recalled, presumably because Nintendo had to shift over to an actual Switch 2 when the Switch became a runaway success)?
@@littleakibagames Well, for number 1, kinda. But, given the dev environment is done on PC to begin with. It's just the target that changes. Testing locally is possible, but unless you have the hardware you're targeting, you don't know how it's going to perform. Yu can still work on it, though, and adjust when you do get the hardware. 2 is really going to come down to developer talent. What some people can do in two years, a really good studio with a refined process could do in one. The scope of the game also plays a factor. But, 18 to 24 months for a high quality game is about where I would land, too. As to number 3, that really depends on what sort of features that pulled Devkit had. If it was a major gimmick they dropped, then yeah, if dev started to implement it, they would have to pull that stuff out and rework the game. If it was just a spec bump, it's not as big of a deal to tweak once you do get the new kits. That's one we won't know until we start seeing actual titles and their quality.
The dude that "leaked" F-Zero GX Recharged has never been right about anything. Hell, he has been extremely blatantly wrong about a ton of stuff. I'm of the opinion that Nintendo really did not like how GX turned out and that's part of the reason the series died out. I think an actual new F-Zero game is more likely, and they're insane if they're pumping the series up to do nothing with it. I mean, F-Zero 99 rocks and I'm happy with it, but still.
The "Recharged" name may be from a discredited leaker, but the actual remaster has been kind of an open secret for some time now. It was tied directly to the same leaks that confirmed Thousand-Year Door, so I'd consider at least its existence to be locked in, whatever they end up calling it.
MARIO AND LUIGI BROTHERSHIP IS BY WHOM?????
Acquire
I think super nintendo switch is too confusing for a name
Society has indeed gotten dumber since the early 90s.
I like the name, however it doesn't sound like a new system and more like an updated switch 1
@littleakibagames nah people on the 90's didn't know the snes was an improvement either there's a reason the bit wars was a thing they had to teach people
I am more about the wait and see approach when it comes to Nintendo announcing anything new on the F-Zero franchise. I am, however, happy to be playing these other games that got dropped. I never had the chance to dive into those games and play them, so this is a good opportunity to do so. My absolute favorite is the original F-Zero, so I’m both curious and excited what life is like from those sequels after the original. On a bonus note, Final Fight was a decent port, but it was the only way to experience it. What sucked about it is that it was only one player, they edited out scenes, and no Guy. Besides, we got the best version on it on the Sega CD, so there’s really no point with playing the SNES version, despite being the only port we had access to at that time until other versions was released down the line.
I had very few gba games growing up but GP Legends was one I would marathon to try and get good especially during high school. I've always thought the difficulty curve in that game was pretty great. Learn the track. Actually race. And Lock In this is a fight for the best. The brutality of F-Zero where you could blow up and lose was intense. It was nice to hear your personal experience so i thought I'd share mine haha. As for the switch 2 one of the things that could bring me back to nintendo products would be the revitalizing of many ignored or forgotten gems and I'd consider getting the next console if enough exclusives from their in my eyes star line up get made. So count me interested.
I feel that they did miss an interesting opportunity by not sticking a game or a remaster on the 3DS.
I loved the original F-Zero, but not having a console of my own at the time, I only had a chance to see/play it about every 6-10 months growing up. If it wasn't for my cousin that was literally my gateway to gaming, I probably never would have even known it existed. Most of the later entries I would end up having a bit of a touch and go relation with, but I never really played or saw much of the 64 & GameCube generations. As it stands, the original has always held a very special place in my heart, so I was very excited for F-Zero 99. I have not been disappointed, either. It did have a slightly slower start when it very first came out, but once the main leagues were out, it was quite fun. It has been interesting to see all the different things they've given a shot and how the gameplay has evolved over time. The one that is most obvious is how they completely overhauled the team battle mechanic from two teams splitting the lobby in half to a F-Zero 50 with five teams of 10. It actually makes it much more interesting and competitive. Another thing I've enjoyed has been the seasonal track variants. It's not much, but seeing things getting a little mixed up makes it still feel fresh and interesting. I'm hopeful and excited for what the future has in store for the franchise.
While I'm not big into online games in general I'll agree that variant tracks are such a great idea because variety is what will keep people coming back in an official release they'd only need to release some new things in cycles and get some decent servers and they've got a game that might for many define a console generation genre.
Personally, I'm thinking there is a new F-Zero in the works. I'm thinking it's going to be cross-gen between Switch and Switch 2.
Which is interesting, because Miyamoto said he wasn't interested in making a new F-Zero unless there was some advancement in controls that compelled him to revisit the series through that lens, which even the Wii apparently didn't qualify for. (I actually wanted to touch on that in the video but completely forgot.) Now we might not have all the facts yet, but I don't think the Switch 2 is reinventing that wheel, either, which tells me that a new producer would have went to Miyamoto with a convincing enough argument that he signed off on it anyway.
@@littleakibagames That's the thing, barring the invention of non-invasive neural link technology for a game console, you're not going to do better than a Pro controller. Motion won't cut it, F-Zero isn't a game that lends itself to that. Even a wheel isn't right for F-Zero. It has to be analog stick and throttle/brake. I don't see why there's a need for anything more. One could make the argument for a vertical set of thrusters, but again, you could do that on a button or a thumb trigger. To me, it just seems like Miyamoto was being a stubborn old man again.
@@nightbirddsI think he saw Phantom Menace and started wilding.
I've only played the original f-zero and the f-zero 99 game (I love that one) which game in your opinion is the definitive f-zero experience?
Since your only exposure to the series is 2D F-Zero, I don't hesitate to say GP Legend. F-Zero is one of those franchises where "definitive" is going to mean different things to different people.
I think F-Zero started your love of racing games period. You might have found them later through Virtua Racing, but we all gotta find our jumping off point.
Oh I was even playing stuff like Pole Position (I have another good story about that which I'll share someday) and Rad Racer before that. All Virtua Racing did was kickstart the era of arcade racing that I'm most attached to.
It hits a similar vibe for me when they're remaking games instead of just re-releasing it for a new platform and you get a lot of that nostalgia bait content and ooo look at the shiny graphics without any of core gameplay elements having hardly any highlight. Those who hype the game usually get on the front page while those with a more cynical or critical view get shafted. Daily if you don't hit the "all from this creator" notification RUclips gets to decide whose videos they'll be recommending or even notifying you about. As a big corporation working with other big corporations not really surprising like the backwards "advertising friendly content" stipulation that they'll sweep under the rug people not promoting their newest thing.
Yeah, this is a real problem. There was a point where RUclips would recommend vaguely related content to me, but over the past few months, I've noticed that these recommendations became fewer and fewer. In trying to serve me only what I'm interested in, RUclips stops serving up stuff I might be interested in. So I've had to make sure to watch a variety of stuff on the platform, not just one specific niche.
Has this happened?
@@clay890 Not yet that I'm aware of, unfortunately.
I just don’t understand why people are upset when certain games they don’t like or hear other people don’t like are rereleased. Sure, CFE may be included in the collection at the expense of another game (artificially so, mind you), but that doesn’t mean that the game you have been waiting for won’t be released in the future. If we want to encourage publishers and IP holders to dump their back catalogs onto modern platforms, then we need to be appreciative of their efforts when they do so. Am I saying to blindly buy every single modern rerelease out there? Not at all as many of them are poorly executed to the point of almost ruining the original game. However, we should celebrate when they do it right; even when they are certain games we don’t particularly care about.
Gamepad Patrick still wiped me off the floor. Haha
I've never understood this attitude that just because a game happened to be bad, it shouldn't be included in a Collection. If that was the case, a good 30% of games in collections would fall into that category. Fact is, CFE isn't a great game, but it is a significant one. So it does belong there. As far as it 'taking up a spot' that could have gone to something else, I again have to roll my eyes. We're not fighting for ROM space anymore. Capcom can include as many, or as few games as they want on the collection. Storage isn't the issue anymore. So these proverbial slots are really unlimited. Going to stream ideas, might consider schmups again, or digging into the wild world of Japanese only PS2 fighting games.
The thing that really gets me about CFE is that even the most damning thing you can say about it makes a very good case for it as a historical piece worth keeping around: It is the game that broke Capcom's fighting division to the point of a five-year moratorium on new releases. (Edit: You could say HD Remix broke that moratorium early, but that was more of a David Sirlin passion project than a wholehearted Capcom release.) Now anyone curious about that will have an easy method of exploration far more effective than the endless parade of "trust me bro" they would have likely been subjected to otherwise.
@@littleakibagames The thing of it is, I saw a docu on it not that long ago. It was pretty interesting to hear how unbelievably messed up the game's development actually was. Honestly, if someone wanted to take it, and put some time into smoothing out the mechanics, it could be a good bit of fun. As it is, it's a great example of what happens you mix corporate meddling with a brutal dev schedule.
@@nightbirddsMegaMan X6 levels of BS? Essentially releasing the beta version levels of bad? I'm a Mega Man X gamer, so that's probably the closest example of Capcom half-assed games I know from personal experience.
Duckstation is really something else. You should try Gran Turismo 2 with all the upscaling, and overclocking the PS1 CPU and giving it more ram It makes a remarkable diffference.
Oh, Duckstation... How awesome it really is. Especially when micro USB connectors are crap, and I have to do a balancing act to get my Vita to charge any more. So tired of buying new micro USB cords.
Can confirm - I spent much of my youth trading in old games for new games, and I regret it immeasurably as an adult. In fact, if I still had all the things I used to have, I could likely fill every wall of my basement with shelves of games. I'm not really much into physical games these days (too lazy to get up to change discs lol) but I do wish I hadn't been so short-sighted back then
Hope you enjoy your 'i was right' victory laps. Looks like you have more than a few coming. Nintendo has earned the luxury to follow the beat of their own drum. The only problem with this strategy is when they do goof there is no surrounding chorus to drown it out -- they have for quite a while done things on their own terms and not at the desires or beat of anyone else in the industry. I think the formula here is pretty simple: Switch, but better and more modern. Thats all it has to be. and that looks like thats what we are getting. The specs, the everything else is almost inconsequential because such things don't really drive Nintendo hardware. Show me some games!
While I do think early 2025 for a launch is possible, I don't think it is entirely necessary to push for that. Nintendo can launch this system any time they want, and they'l sell. They're not in a position where they have to rely on a holiday to boost sales. Sure, they always see a bump when they do Black Friday and Holiday bundles for Switch, but the Switch sells steadily all year round. As for games being ready to go Well, that largely depends on hw different the new hardware is. If the hardware is following the same Nvidia lineage, it would be a good deal easier for devs to get up to speed, so the turnaround time could be shorter. That said, why rush? Nintendo can take their time and launch with legitimate system sellers, which is something neither the Xbox One/Series and PS4/5 managed to do.
What are you thoughts on mobile gaming in general and if you were given an opportunity to improve it, what would you do?
Cool vid!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
I would love a UM version of KoF XI; especially if they added rollback to it. That said? I think City of the Wolves was aimed for this time and just needed more polish/development and I'm gonna respect the "don't rush the obligatory date" approach, because it looks FANTASTIC.
@@TonyTheTGR I think a UM version of KOF XI would look like the PS2 port but with everything unlocked out of the gate, and maybe some technical fixes.
I do see some potential of additional teams by factoring more characters from NGBC, the sister game it pulled the extra characters from before. Hanzo/Fuuma/Mudman as a World Heroes team, or pairing King Lion and Kisarah with Hayate for a Savage Reign/Kizuna Encounter team... or pairing Tung Fu Rue with the Jin Twins.
