We lost one of the most talented Reno / NV Air National Guard pilots ever when his GP-5 airplane went down during qualifying for the Reno Air Races on 9/8/14. He will be missed by many and was truly one of the best to work with and fly with. He was an amazing friend, father, husband, and pilot. RIP, friend......You Will Be Missed !!

Der geilste Vogel seiner Zeit. Der Beste Sound Ich war dabei JG 74 Mölders Viva Zapata Rikofly
What a rush, I'm 63 and grew up in Ogden Utah literally 10 miles from Hill airforce base. Everyday was and still is today an air show from my parents back yard. We used to watch sortie after sorting every day growing up. The mighty F4 Phantom was our favorite. Where was this shot? It appears to be over the dugway proving grounds and great salt lake, great footage and sound. Brings back those childhood memories 😂 Thanks for posting this!
Awesome video, only the Guard could get away with this. 1300 hrs in RF-4 as WSO Tx & Germany.
Twin turbo jets...they were basically missiles. F-4... the series. Needed more armòry.
Mach 3.5? That plane will rupture ear drums. They're just being nice.
Go straight to 2:30 for actual Mach pass sonic boom. F4 Phantoms are still the most beautiful birds man ever made.
That will always be my baby!
My Father was a Flight Instructor in the 50/60's at both Memphis and Norfolk...The A-4, F-4 and F-104 were my favorites. Then the F-15 came along' what a racehorse.
I flew the RF-4 in the 91st then the 12th. In the 12th when it was the last active duty squadron. I flew the last RF-4 out of Germany as well. Great bird.

For clarification, the RF-4C (tail code BH serial number 64-1047) filmed airborne in much of this video was one of two jets left behind by the 106th TRS "Rebels" when that squadron returned home to the United States in December 1990. This RF-4C was in fact borrowed and flown by the 192nd TRS "High Rollers" during Operation Desert Storm. This RF-4C was very special in that it was one of two equipped with HIAC-1 Long Range Oblique Photograph cameras. Also, during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, this aircraft flew a total of 172 missions, more than any other F-4 aircraft. When flown to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio in May 1994, it had more than 7,300 hours of flying time
Poor Indian reservation.
Remember flying and hearing Cpt. Lee saying on the radio " Gentleman, you´ve got a race".
What's the story behind this video? Did the camera man know the pilots?
I’m tge guy being filmed. We’re taking off from Italy, going to Turkey and the rest to Saudia Arabia
Awesome footage of my all time favourite jet. 🤘🤩 The meanest looking, yet beautiful warbird ever built. ❤️
My goal now is to make a video that puts yours to shame. Even if I don't. Your video is already put to shame for your shit editing.
You're too worthless to have any goals...
Why did you cut the video of each segment way too short? You've completely ruined it. Just when the sound of the jet gets right to its peak, you cut away! What a useless video.

That F-4 Phantom Wild Weasel is still the loudest plane Ive ever heard to this day.. and that was 1991
I was the crew chief on RF-4C Phantom 69-370 at Zweibrucken Air Bade in Germany, when i was there back in 74-76. I do miss those days in the Air Force. Liked getting the pilots strapped in for flight, starting them up, launching them out for flight. A 20+ year old kid had lots of responsibility.
Keep in mind.. this was a McDonnell F-4 design. Douglas merged with McDonnell and attached their name to a winner... McDonnell Douglas is a loser company, and now since bought out by Boeing... Boeing is going down the toilet... McDonnell Douglas is a cancer.
Oddly beautiful

Meanest looking fighter ever built.

My Dad got to fly an F4C.❤
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Hard to imagine these things were flying only a few decades after WW2
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
My dad repaired airplanes for the US Navy during WWII. Now I know why his hearing was very poor in his old age.
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Ayo bro that's Greece
As a teen in the Civil Air Patrol I watched the Blue Angels show while they were using F-4’s. Those things would vibrate your liver when they fly past. We were paid for two days of security work by having lunch with the pilots. I was at the table with the number 4 pilot. I asked why his tail was flat black while the other jets had nicely painted tails with their number? He said its because I fly in the exhaust of the boss number 1 jet so thats soot from his engines.
I was stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo NM in 1976 and I remember these planes screaming off the runway towards White Sands!
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
"No music" isn't right: This is pure music!
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Nice private airshow! Phantoms forever!
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I worked at the McClellan AFB Command Post in Sacramento from 91-93. We’d get phone calls from ranchers saying the jets were scaring their ostriches, cows, you name it. We’d tell them, “Sorry…not our jets. Call Reno Air Guard” and would give them THEIR number.” Sound of f-ing freedom!
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I worked on RF 4Cs in 1985 to 1987 at RAF Alconbury. Loved those old pigs. They leaked a lot, smoked like a pack of Marlboros, and stunk to high heaven. But they were the first true donit all fighter, tho they never ment to do that, they just could. 69-0369 was my bird. I miss hearing that familiar howl...
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Man that's got to be one hell of a ride
Yup! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I love FJs so much but they scare the hell out of me.
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I'm fairly certain that's Pyramid Lake, which is 50 miles or so north of Reno. My first duty station in the Army was nearby at Sierra Army Depot in '83. As a kid growing up in the 60's and 70's, the F4 to me was the epitome of what a fighter jet was. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the F14, 15, 16 and 18, and cannot believe that my life has flown by and even THEY'VE been replaced. To me the F4 looks like a flying shark, and I'm certain our enemies have looked up in absolute terror when they saw Phantoms bearing down on them. Anyway, long live Old Smokey!😎👍
That caught my eye too - looks like Pyramid Lake. Cool video.
Yup! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Notice the lack of smokey exhaust.
Grew up with this awsome plane. Could not belive they used them as migs in iron eagle 2!!!
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I grew up next to the McDonnell Douglas aircraft plant and us kids would watch these planes take off daily from a nearby park, sometimes they would fly low enough we could see the pilots wave at us
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Amazing footage of an amazing airplane... but there wasn't a sonic boom.
Huh? Don’t remember seeing you there! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I'm a recently retired A.E. with America's largest defense contractor. My Dad was an Engineer at Cape Canaveral from '56 thru '76 and I grew up in Cocoa Beach, just north of Patrick AFB (now SFB) and they had a fighter squadron there at that time. As young teen boys we used to ride our bikes down A1A and sit at the end of the runway to watch the Mighty F4 Phantom II's take off with full military power right over our heads. They were big SOB's and man did that J79 smoke but they held 52 world speed, altitude, time to altitude and timed closed course records.
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
F yeah ! Awesome My dad had over 2000 hours in the f-4 He would’ve loved seeing this. RIP pops
Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
Half way through your video and no sonic boom!!!WTF!
Really? Don’t remember seeing you out there! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I wish people knew what a sonic boom was 😂😂😂
Yeah! Sound of freedom! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
I love F4’s but there was not a single sonic boom
Huh? Don’t remember seeing you out there! Thanks, Phantoms Phorever!!
