i think you're missing the point because you're not used to the culture. what's truly dreadful for asian cultures is not the jump scares or the peak moments, its thre trepedition before the blow out. also a type of horror that's more about the impending feeling of doom and a simple but effective conclusion was very refreshing and relatable to asian audiences. So i really think you need to be a lil more open to accepting the world and the culture that this movie brings to you.
While it's true that I'm not all that familiar with what Asian cultures find scary, I can only express my opinion watching this movie as an international viewer, prior to knowing any cultural significance. Although, I did compliment how the historical and cultural influences create a unique experience when it comes to the horror, and how I thought the mystery element and world building was intriguing. So I wouldn't say I'm not open to accepting the world and culture the movie offers. I just personally didn't think the way this movie sets up and navigates these ideas and the story to be all that effective, so I leaned towards the more entertaining side of the movie and felt underwhelmed with most of the execution.

I loved this movie!
Watched this some time before and it destroyed me! So well done and the conclusion was just heart-rending. I tried watching the series but gave up after the second episode because it just deviated from the original so much.
I thought the series could have potential, but like you, I had to stop after the second episode. I'm not sure why they would decide to make a series out of this story, and then spend way too much time on characters who had no connection or association with K and Cream, or the actual story itself... But at the very least, hopefully it helps more people discover the original Korean movie.

'Ballerina' is an outstanding action movie starring Jeon Jong-seo who puts other 'tuff' women to shame. The cinematography is outstanding with beautiful use of colors. This movie is worth a watch.

Just watched this, I wanna know your thoughts on the scene she said farewell to the trainee
I think that one interpretation could be that the trainee had passed away, especially with the specificity of her sentiments in wanting to bid her farewell and hoping she finds a better place. But I'd like to view it more positively, as more of a sweet and uplifting moment that shows Jin-Ah's willingness to change and her remorse for her previous behaviour to someone who appears to have been in a similar situation. I think she sees that she could relate to the trainee and expresses herself in a way that the trainee can also relate to, and her final words act as a cathartic moment for both of them, perhaps to support the trainee in recognizing that there's a more hopeful outlook on life and not to resort to the same life of isolation.
Amazing movie. Mystery and horror seem to trickle in through every facet of her life: workplace, home, family. It isnt always clear if the events are supernatural or just a byproduct of protagonists alienation. Acting is very good and so are characterisations, I cared for characters a lot and felt invested. I enjoyed the protagonist being an unlikable, conflicted character which ismt very common.
