@@MapleBinch That’s great and all but I’ve played almost every popular MMO along with p servers over the past two decades. From Runescape, WoW, MS, Endless, etc etc. The hate for Nexon is justified as it for blizzard, jagex, is it for ubisoft as it is for any developer ever. The fact remains that only Nexon can do it right and ensure it will last. Also being official it would actually have a real player base not just artificially inflated by adhd nostalgia addicts who want more than temporary 2x exp boosts so they can max level in a few weeks and beg for content because they don’t understand what moderation is. OSMS has way more content than people give it credit for and the stupid mechanics all 300 people complain about on forums today could easily be fixed. Not only easily fixed but at the very least anecdotally, those issues only effected the small percentage of players capable of making it to end game. I spent countless hours on Ms getting almost all explorer classes to 40-88. The so called bad mechanics only affect a small percentage of actual players.

@@MapleBinch there’s 4 of us so it has been a lil frustrating trying to pq with each other. With the way it is rn it feels almost like a solo game at times but hoping these are just early kinks that’ll be worked out eventually 😭

I don't really notice the glitchy-ness. Plus, I don't think a lot of people are willing to put time into a private server (including myself)

I totally agree with you! I think a lot of people "want" an exact old school server, but they'd soon realize that it'd just be too annoying to deal with the old school mechanics like the clunky free market. I'm glad Artale showed us what a good old school server can be like!

True!! I guess I don't know enough about the class changes to truly give a top 3, but this list would do well for most old school servers that may come out in the future.

It's a limitation of Worlds. If Nexon optimizes MapleStory World's in the coming years better then maybe we can see this change, but who knows how likely or possible that is.

^ This. Also, I think it's a blessing in disguise... when we were kids, we were dumb and didn't know how to grind efficiently. But now these adults are taking over maps completely. It'd be tough to train for us if the channels were condensed. Also, despite only having 50 people in a channel, I still see people chatting in the all chat which is nice :)

@@MapleBinch I agree, I've had no trouble finding people to party and chat with regardless. I also think channel changing taking longer has had the unintended effect of people being more likely to party instead of cc'ing (Edit: nah people are still channel hogs once partying starts becoming suboptimal until priests get HS) to find an empty channel because of how long it takes lol So no complaints from me in that regard, grinding is more fun with other people.

Definitely agree with you! I love the gameplay of old school because of those reasons... feeling the value of every meso is especially important! And the QoL is the cherry on the cake. This server truly shows that you can have a slow-paced MMO that feels challenging, but still has smooth QoL!

I agree with you. I'm loving Artale QoL so much that I don't think I'll switch to MapleLand permanently (at least that's what I think right now). But I don't think the servers ever got "new" content that wasn't a part of OG MapleStory, other than Auction House.

LOL. I think Assassin is more fun than Bandit in OSMS. Modern Maple, Shadower is definitely better!

Yup! Maple OSMS just makes modern Maple feel like a job or relationship you have to keep up in your life. OSMS feels like a hobby you can sink your time into without any need to do dailies/weeklies. Just do what you want when you log in.

@@MapleBinch yeah exactly! the only thing making me log into the game is my desire to play the game. i stopped playing gms a while ago after i reached my goals and it's nice to be free from fomo

Definitely! I think this server will respond to community needs fairly well, especially if they have competition with MapleLand in Korea :)

And also the 2x exp is nice cuz assassin’s have the worst AoE mobbing capabilities so u need that double exp

If u want to play any other class it might be better to play on maplelands when that drops

It's not a private server. Nexon launched MapleStory Worlds, which works just like Roblox. Someone used the MS Worlds client to build this server. So it's the only legal version of OSMS.

@@MapleBinch Oh so somebody just made a game that looks exactly like old school maplestory. Is it worse than the private servers? Kinda feel like this was created just so they can easily strike those old school servers and that makes me sad tbh

I think it's better than a private server, honestly, because since they're not using the exact Old School client, they get to customize the game with better features that greatly improve the quality of life. Private servers are limited in their customization since they're using the game client's old code. I think this server feels great so far. Also, this server originated in Korea over a year ago, because MapleStory Worlds has been available in Korea for a while now. They've been able to refine the game over time. All they had to do was translate the game for America's MapleStory World's release. So, I think the game feels smooth and polished. I'm a big fan so far.
