Thanks just ordered the machine ! waiting for the Ennoxx to be available to order the motor.
Wow! thanks, will try
Thanks for uploading this! Are you able to advise which grommets the side supports are fixed next to please? I’m stringing bottom up on a Pro’s Pro Hornet with a Wise 2086 so set up is slightly different but would be great to get your thoughts on mounting placement😊
They should be sitting somewhere inside both outer main string grommets. I have mine placed at the bottom between B13 and B14, at the top between and also 1-2 holes inside the outmoust top shared grommet. I don't think that moving them around by 1-2 holes makes a huge difference, as long as you keep them insided the outmost main string holes imo.
@@saitenkiller Thanks for confirming! Just another quick one (sorry😅!). Do you normally string square or add lbs to the crosses? Done a few string jobs where I’ve felt that the top of the frame has come out slightly egg shaped
@@mathiaskupiec629 This is a thing every stringer need to find out for themselves. Some machine setups need square tension to keep the head shape unchanged, other do +10% on the crosses to achieve the best results. I’m using square tensions since that gives me the best and most consistent results in terms of head shapes.
Is it necessary to flare shared grommets? Or is it only for aesthetics?
It's mostly aesthetics. Although you avoid the risk of the grommets splitting when they get stretched open by the tensioned strings.
I’ve purchased my machine recently, then I started practising on machine stringing badminton racquet , i don’t know what’s wrong I did but 2 racquets got broken the racquets max tension 35 and I put 26 lbs tension.. I’m doing 4 knots Yonex pattern I’m very scared to do stringing now ..
This can have a lot of reasons, very hard to tell without any pictures or (even better) a video. First, what kind of tensioning is your machine using (drop weight, electronic, crank)? Is it calibrated?
Li Ning E 8800 electronic constant pull tensioner … I dint get you what you are asking about calibrated
@@focuslocus4010 It means you basically check if it’s really pulling with the set value or if there is any deviation. I don’t think this will be the issue with a high level machine as a E8800. How many rackets have you strung on it without issue before those breakages happened?
First racquet when I tried It was broken , and second one went good , while doing third racquet mains the racquet shape is getting out while string is pulling and I wanted to do little loose of mounting but bymistakly I did tight and it got compressed and broke … idk what exactly I’m doing wrong it’s mounting or wrong tension setting in machine
@@focuslocus4010 I honestly have no idea how to help you there. Just follow the video in terms of the right force how to mount the racket. And maybe a simple thought - check if your machine is set to kg or lbs.
Oh thank you, i just purchased the same machine!
Glad it is of some use and congrats on your purchase. Just note that this is a very early version of the machine so the side supports will be a bit different on yours.
@@saitenkiller I did notice as I watched your past videos. The 12/6 mounts also have revised load spreaders. Thanks for making the videos!
Hi Smair. Since BC forums is down I was wondering if you had a mounting video for the stringmaster deluxe. Couldn't access the thread where there was discussion
So you mean a video that shows how the machine is assembled? Nope, I don’t have that as a video. But tbh it’s pretty straight forward and it’s obvious how the parts should fit together.
@saitenkiller sorry I meant how to mount a racket on the deluxe. The instructions said to keep the towers unlocked. Do the 12 and 6 o'clock supports first then the side supports next. Then lock the towers. I'm wondering why that's the case and not confident if my side supports are connecting with the racket too close to the center.
@@95thRiflesOCI Here’s a video I did a while back to show my racket mounting process: ruclips.net/video/1LEFcu3nwrE/видео.htmlsi=FvWDAj3rRefZ5xGU Never, ever leave the main tower unlocked! The racket should be held firmly in all six support points.
Thanks this was the video I remmeber seeing. So when I first was trying to mount one of the side supports wouldn't make contact with the racket. It was atleast 1cm away with the other ones all firm. The only way I got it to all touch was when I turned one of the towers to the right then it all touched. But from your comment did you meant to move my towers in the correct spot then lock and then move the supports?
Where do you buy this tensioner
Such a thorough guide. Thank you so much for your effort!
How long is the machine, from the motor to the end of the turntable? And how did you mount it on the stand? (that's from the Superstringer isn't it?)
Very nice sir
Thanks for the video. Very informative and helpful!
How is the new motor mounted on the short base plate? Is there an adapter?
You don't need an adapter, just two holes drilled in the right places and you can mount it directly.
Ah as simple as that:D do fou find any instability issues with SE version and the motor that reaches over the base plate, with the wise or the new one?@@saitenkiller
@@simjoun3299 No, not at all. It all feels very sturdy. The only downside is the slightly weird look imo.
@@saitenkiller ok nice, thx for the fast response. The look wouldn’t be a problem for me. I’m still thinking if I should by Stringmaster either as a drop weight or with a motor. Did you also test it with the drop weight or only with the motor?
Is this tension head manufactured by Wise?
No, definitely not.
Nice job! What do you think about this tension head in comparison of Wise 2086?
It’s a very good alternative. It pulls faster and smoother. But it’s more expensive and not as easy to mount on existing machines as the WISE.
@@saitenkiller So you think it´s definitely better than the wise tensionhead in comparison ? with the new motor, you get the glide to activate which is a nice to have I think but the main question is, do you really need it. newer motor is like 200€ + I´m now looking for a new machine and I think this one in the LE version is the best you can get now in terms of function/price/quality.
@@tommyshoe-star1426 Looking at performance only, yes, it is better than the WISE. But still, the WISE does deliver equally consistent results and has proven to be incredibly robust and reliable long term. The glide-to-activate gripper imo is a very nice feature and I wouldn't want to miss it anymore. If you count that in, bot tension heads are almost equal in price. Personally, if I was going to decide for a StringMaster LE, I'd go with the new tension head. But again, the WISE still is a dead solid piece of gear and won't be a clearly wrong choice too.
Does changed grommets affect head weight of racket compared to orginal, especially yonex one ?
Nah, there is no way it will make a real difference. Don't worry.
How many metres of string do you use in total? 10 metres or less?
It's less then 10 m. I think I can get away with around 9 m.
Hi, thx for this video! Question; when stringing the mains do you use the same kg/tension (when stringing with the same string, so no hybrid situation) or bit less or even a bit more. There are different stories going on online about that topic.
There are indeed different approaches here. The most important thing is that the frame shape remains unchanged when it's strung. And it mostly depends on the machine and setup, what main/cross ratio is optimal. Personally, I achieve the best results with main=cross, Yonex generally recommends to go +10% on the crosses. In the end there is no clear right or wrong - just go with the ratio that delivers the best and most consistent results for you. Hope this helps. :)
@@saitenkiller Thanks for the quick reply. At the moment for myself I have Yonex Ezone (Skyblue version 2022). Machine probaby gonna be tennisman Stringmaster 4000 Electronis (Tennishead 2086)
@@teddaamen Just do some trial & error for yourself. Start with main=cross and see if the frame comes out more round that it is unstrung. If so, then go with +1 lb on the crosses. And so forth... If you mount the racket snug enough, there is a good chance you will get a good result with main=cross right away.
@@saitenkiller THANKS!!!
hi, first of all, very detailed and nice video's about the stringmaster deluxe. I am. in the market for a stringing machine and have been looking at the stringmaster machines. I'm stuck between the pro 50 (which i would order automatic clamps with =+-770€ total) or the Itennis pro 1 or 2. Is the deluxe really worth it spending the extra money on it? Handy to know: 1) I plan on only doing badmintonrackets for myself and my club (not that much needed). 2) I don't have a lot of space to store it (live in small appartment). So for instance the pro50 looks a bit large... could you maybe give some dimensions of the deluxe or give a size compairison? 3) it's my first machine i will buy, so kind of hesitant... thanks and keep up the good work!
Hi Jan, there are a number of valid points you've raised here. The Pro 50 looks like a dead solid machine and should be slightly lighter than the Deluxe. So if you have to move the machine back and forth a lot, this definitely will be an issue with the Deluxe since it weighs a ton. Dimensions should roughly be the same for both. I also wouldnt' go for replacing the clamp bases of the Pro 50 right away, but first of all start with the stock ones and see how good they are. Good manual bases can do the job just as fine, you only have to get used to it. The new iTennis machines will not be available for another couple of months. They are still in prototype phase only so it's just not possible to make any kind of comparison here. Another thought: Have you looked at the StringMaster 3700? If size and weight really do matter, then going for a badminton-only machine could be an interesting option.
@@saitenkiller Thanks for the torough answer. I tried raising my question on BC, but my account is awaiting confirmation. I treid resending the confirmation mail, but nothing happened (7days ago now). Good to hear that you advise on using the pro 50 with the provided clamps first, makes complete sense looking at it now since it will be the first time for me and workflow will be certainly in development. I looked at the stringmaster 3700 and i'm very interested in it, but it's not in stock... and Dirk from Tennisman seems to be busy since he didn't reply yet. But if the 3700 would be available, i would've already bought it. :)
@@jansnoeck8157 There seems to be an issue with the sign-up process on BadmintonCentral recently, hope the mods will resolve this quickly. That would be the perfect place to discuss this more in detail. Dirk is always very busy - don't be shy to hit him with repeated reminders. I'm suprised that there hasn't been any new stock arriving for the 3700.
@@saitenkiller Yeah, i hope so too, because i want to take part in the discussions since there is so much to learn from guys like you. I will send Dirk a reminder and ask for the 3700. because that would be the ideal machine for me i think. (altough it could be a little cramped in space underneath te racket head, so still a bit doubtful)
@@jansnoeck8157 Every good thing comes with its downsides. But I think the smaller turntable is just a matter of getting used to. The smaller footprint and less weight imo are more important factors to consider. Hope we can talk soon on BadmintonCentral then. :)
Hi, really a good review. Just curious about the difference between deluxe se vs 4000 apart from stand? Your reply would be much helpful. Thank you.
The 4000 has standard "lever style" clamp bases. The Deluxes have those sweet press-down ones. Apart from that, they appear to be identical.
@@saitenkiller thank you for the reply. I ordered the Deluxe se one yesterday.
@@dngtamu8420 Nice! Hope you will receive it quickly and have a lot of fun with it. I'm still 100% happy with mine - so far, zero flaws detected. ☺
Another thing you can check is if the grommets have been compressed/opened up properly. If the sharp edge of the grommet is touching the string that will absolutely result in premature failure. They should have a cone shape on the inside with no edges touch the string. Very important for shared holes not as much for single string holes.
What about when the strings are not straight but slightly curved, like a rainbow. Is this normal?
Not necessarily a bad sign, but not a good one either. If they are heavily curved then that is a sign of the racket moving around on the stringing machine during the job. And in any case, it would only take seconds to straighten the strings afterwards to make it look nice. Your stringer apparently doesn't care if his work appears nicely to the customer.
Great video. Thank you.
Hi, I found this great video from BC. I am thinking of getting this awesome machine w/ wise. May I ask you a few questions: 1 - does this machine come with any warranty? 2 - how long have you been using the wise tensioner? Is it robust? do you have good experience with it? I sometimes have bad luck with electronics (they die soon after the warranty expires) and it's my biggest concern getting an electric tensioner. 3 - Does the machine comes with both the 5 teeth universal clamps and the 4 teeth badminton clamps? Tennisman website doesn't allow the customers to select the clamp type unlike some of the Superstringer models. 4 - Do you find the 5 teeth universal clamps too bulky/clumsy for badminton rackets? Or it is perfectly fine? Thank You
Hi Alex! 1 - In Germany, you have a standard 1 year warranty but tbh I have no idea how it works when it's shipped to other countries. Best to write an e-mail to Tennisman and ask them directly 2 - I've been using the WISE since 2016 and so far without any issues whatsoever. The WISE generally is known to be pretty robust, there are forum members on BadmintonCentral who have used it for many hundreds of jobs and even to string on big tournaments like the All Englands. So I think it's safe to say that this is a solid piece of equipment. :) 3 - afaik they now come stock with the 5-teeth clamps. 4 - ...which is the better choice anyways imo - they are slim, very sturdy and still gentle on the string. Just great clamps, simple as that. Hope this helps a bit. :)
@@saitenkiller thanks so much for the detailed reply. Really appreciate it. I originally aimed for Penta 3600, changed my mind after learning some of the issues with 3600 from some BC members. Then one thread lead to another thread, i went from 3600 to Superstringer S90/T70 now to Stringmaster Deluxe. It's gonna do some major damage to my wallet, ouchie. Hope I don't ever have to upgrade again. Will do. I will contact Tennisman and ask bunch of questions. I heard Dirk is the man to speak to? Btw, from your experience, do you know if these machines ever go on big sale (annual event like Black Friday, Christmas, etc.)?
@@AYYY118 I’m afraid that’s a clear no to sales opportunities. Never seen anything like that at least. And looking at how fast each shipment of the Stringmasters is sold out, I don’t think that they will change that. 😅 And yes, Dirk is the owner of Tennisman and the right guy to talk to.
@@saitenkillerHi, does Dirk usually respond to emails quickly? I sent couple emails to info@tennisman.de but didn't get any response. Thanks.
@@AYYY118 totally depends on how much he has on his plate atm. The whole shop is a one man show, so resources are very limited. If you don’t get an answer in a couple of days then don’t be scared to send a reminder.
What is your suggestion to avoid crossovers? The racket you are showing looks to be strung in the Yonex style. You seem to be very much into the Haribito pattern. To be honest, I use the Yonex pattern a lot and never considered crossovers to be a bad thing.
Tbh, I think that crossovers are the least important point. I fully agree that it gets more difficult to completely avoid them when using a 2-piece pattern. However it is easily possible to try to reduce them best possible just by looking at how the strings are running on the outside and adjust the routing of the next string accordingly. I have seen absolutely flawless 2-piece jobs and managed to do them myself, but it takes more effort compared to a 1-piece Haribito.
@@saitenkiller yeah, i have a same problem with Yonex stringing method. Mostly always have a crossover at b11-b12 on the side opposite to the starting knot... That always appears cause i never can predict how the crossstring should go thrue the shared b12 grommet: upwards or downwards...
Thank you so much for put in the effort in making this excellent video. I am planning to get some grommets for the first time to replace them for my rackets after having have had restrung them by myself for over 10+ times each but always didn't know where to start. Your video has helped me tremendously.
Thanks for you comment, I'm glad the video is of some use to you. You'll see that changing grommets is not difficult at all once you got the basic hang of it. Good luck! :)
Which turn table is this.looks very awesome.
Machine is a StringMaster Deluxe and yeah, I'm very happy with it.
I did 4 tennis racquets in the time it took to string one Badminton racket. All those shared holes took forever to put a cross string through. Could not find the pattern anywhere, the USRSA digest or the internet in general. And the one badminton set we had broke in the bed and not the string being pulled, so there are six knots on it. If I was the owner and someone comes in with a badminton racquet I would tell them to leave. So am I a butcher? No the tennis racquets all came out fine. The only string I ever pulled and broke before was natural gut. So anyone out there can tell me what Badminton string would not break? Would not be so soft that it would not fit easily though shared holes?
See, that is the whole point I was trying to make. You need to change your stringing process and actually put in some research and effort to learn the bells and whistles of stringing badminton rackets. There are simple tricks how to deal with shared grommets for example (check out ruclips.net/video/adD08zJTW1Q/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/Fb-_7i_efII/видео.html)). Experienced stringers can finish a whole racket cleanly in 15-20 minutes. Tennis rackets need other special treatments, but at least the strings and frames are much more robust. If you're breaking badminton strings on a regular basis, then you are making some serious mistakes (clamps too tight? poked with an awl in a shared hole?). It happens to me maybe one out of 100 jobs that the string just snaps during the job. I'm uisng strings down to a 0.58 gauge. And frankly, if you still hand out a racket (and charge money for it) with 6-knots because you killed the string on the machine, then no, that is not okay. At all. Because it will play like sh*t. If you have so much trouble with badminton rackets, then just plainly refuse them. I know some tennis stringers who do just that and instead recommend their clients other stringers who have specialized in badminton (like myself). Nothing wrong with that.
@@saitenkiller If it were up to me I would cut the strings off and give them back the racquet and tell them to find someone else. I am in the USA and we have 99.99% tennis racquets. Some racquetball, and just one badminton. But it is not up to me. I never stick awls in grommets even with tennis. The racquet I did I only saw on Amazon and you can get 2 for 29 dollars unstrung. So in my boss's eye it was not the same as stringing a 200 dollar tennis racquet.
Why do you adopt this stringing pattern? I want to try it too, so can you tell me?
I really like the workflow and the clean looks on the outside of the racket. There is extremely little string running round the outside between the holes. And besides, it's always fun to try out something new. :)
I see. What about the feeling of use? Also, how is the deformation of the racket frame?
@@tuntunll6 Both have pretty much nothing to do with the pattern. Shape depends mostly on the correct mounting and the right tension ratio main/cross strings. The myth that different patterns feel differently is just that. A myth. If you take the same stringer, same machine, same tension ratio, there is no way that anyone can really tell a difference in feel between different patters. Don’t let your brain fool you.
Tolles Video mein Freund. Sehr smooth. Danke!

Hi!

I'd always prefer a slow but careful stringer to a "quick and sloppy" one.
Pretty decent video. I am a little confused about how you were describing starting the crosses. There are 2 methods generally accepted and taught by ERSA, Yonex etc, both very similar, one more common than the other. 1st is to pull the second cross and not the 1st string with the starting knot. The other method is to start by the 1st clamp and string down to the throat and then tie off, and then continue up to the head. The reason given is there is more support in theory at the clamp area and less stress on the starting knot. I find this more of a hassle, so have always used the 1st method.
Hm… can you point out which point in the video you are referring to? In general, I also do the first option that you’ve decribed. More straight forward process and I never had any issues with the starting knot.
Really good comprehensive video!!

Okuhara's footwork is wonderful. The split step and push off are superbly timed to her opponent, and her use of small fill-in steps to ensure her centre of balance remain's controlled between her feet is quite outstanding.
The stringer in my area almost completely weives the racket by hand before even attaching it to stringing machine. And I think he starts tensioning the strings from the side instead of starting from the centre :/ he uses the 2 knot method. He uses a very old stringing machine. He uses just 1 manual clamp for the keeping the tensioned string in place. I also don't think he uses a load spreader. I need to replace the factory string in my racket but I don't feel comfortable giving him my racket. Most players in the area are Naive when it comes to stringing and praises the guy solely because of how long he's been stringing. How can I ask him to start tensioning from the middle and symmetrically? I don't think it's possible with just one clamp.
That doesn’t sound good at all - that dude pretty much checks all the don’t-do-it boxes. And there is truly no other stringer available in your area? Have you asked your club mates and friends if they know someone else? And serious question: Have you thought about becoming a stringer yourself? With such a bad competition around, this could become a decent side business. 🤓
@@saitenkiller I guess I could look for another stringer, but how will I know if he is good enough without taking a risk. I don't think he'll appreciate me interviewing him before handing over my racket. People here get offended quickly. They'll simply answer ‘I've been doing this for a long time, I think I know what I'm doing...'. And a stringer myself? 😂 Well I have thought about stringing my own racket if a stringer allows me to use his machine, but that's pretty much it. There's no way I can afford a good stringing machine. The guy I mentioned earlier uses the spring loaded manual machine. So, I guess I have to go on a stringer hunt.
@@i_am_murshi It's a difficult situation, no doubt. I guess you have to take a bit of a risk and try out some stringers. If possible, watch them for a little bit. And don't be too fixed on the type of machine that a stringer is using. It's perfectly possible to deliver really good jobs with simple looking manual machines - and they are perfectly fine for anybody who wants to start stringing if you know what to look for. Good luck!
The age of the machine doesn't really matter, but bad technique does - I would rather go to a good stringer with a bad machine than the other way around. Side-to-side mains is a complete dealbreaker, IMO, and this is before the lack of load spreaders and the single clamp. I would avoid.
It feels like nokuhara is going to fall on the ground every time
