WEPED Sonic 72mph Up Mountain Road at the 7:22 mark GPS Stats
Notes from today's quick ride: First, the scooter will go much faster but I'm limited to where I can actually go fast. As you can see, it's not a straight climb and the drainage dips make for some interesting squirrely moments.
The WEPED Sonic this past week on their website, broke the 100mph barrier. They went 101mph documented. It's hard to do that in the U.S. as we aren't allowed to really ride this on the highway like they do in Korea. It would be fun to take this to a track and let it rip. But for me, I know it could go 100mph and that's all that matters - knowing it can, not that I would :)

WEPED Sonic Mountain Climb With GPS Stats

Early morning ride with GPS stats 65mph up hill with only 66volts remaining and an altitude of 1900 feet. This is a 400 pound scooter 150 pounds my weight. That's 550 pounds going up a mountain at 65mph with a 1/4 volts left on the meter. I'm sure this would easily go 95mph no question at all, but there is nowhere that I know of that I could test that out. Anyway enjoy the video.

At the 1:56 mark, dual motor on, 3/4 throttle and hit 72mph going up a mountain road and could have easily hit 95 or 100 but I thought I saw a LEO behind me in my rear view mirror, so I had to slow up just in case. The conditions was cool at 60 degrees, battery not fully charged at about 76volts and this thing flies.

It was difficult today finding a straight away without people getting in the way. I found one short bike path for the single motor test but then bikers came, so I found a different place around he corner for the dual motor test. Sonic First Long Ride

This was my first long ride. The camera battery died the last 5 minutes but you get the idea. The bike path from my house is less then a mile. I put the Sonic through the basic tests, slow, fast, curves and just riding. At the 11:15 mark is a little fun and so was the 13:25 mark. BTW, the slight rattling noise is from the camera not the scooter itself. Please enjoy the video. Lot's more to come...

Single dual motor is only useful if you can choose the axle . I don't see what it comes be useful for ? The range is extended by using both
It's very useful when stopped at a light when using single motor. If you just lightly touch the throttle when in dual mode, the scooter will just take off and if your not prepared for that jolt, you or the scooter will get hurt 100%, full stop. Remember, this is basically a standup motorcycle that will do over 100mph. On Weped's website they make those videos showing them going down the highways at high speed but in the U.S. you will go to jail if you tried that in L.A., California seems to loves lunatics...
@MrLou345 mine does a theory 115++ ,but 0-60 just over 5 sec. I have 2 nd84530 controllers . @40kw- 56kw ( could be) footscooter that weight 205lb. I have parking / cruse functions for that. And 3 speed highly programmable . For less than . Fardriver controllers are also available with locking keyless alarms system . Making it very difficult to push away ( it's very loud ,and kicks back) . (Could you tell I'm a fanboy of Fardriver)?? Ok , thanks for sharing why you spec. It on your scooter. The Sonic would have been so much more if they used the samsung 50s ,and not the 50E cells in my opinionated opinion 🤔. It's only 8.5kw output, but over 300lb?! The 50E cells are only 9.8amp rate, but the 50S is 45amp output !
Finally. Something that can keep up,but weight a lot more than my footscooter? It cost a lot more to build, more physically larger , costs a lot more to build, maintain, lot's more to fix. A little slower top speeds, little less grunt, less 0-60 runs , less future proof, but I'd absolutely love to see one race me?

Nice video! How was the shipping process? Did you have alot of fees importing it? Did it come straight to your home?
Thanks for your comments. The shipment came FedEx right to my front door in about 10 days. Most of that was clearing customs (5 days). The customs fee was $65. Shipping is included in the price worldwide.
@@MrLou345 Oh cool! I'm about to order an E-chromenight bike and I'm not sure what fees or issues I might run into being from overseas. Did you go through a US dealer or straight from manufacturer?
I ordered it directly from WEPED in Korea, I didn't use a dealer. It was in my house in 10 days from Korea. 5 days in customs and then the rest to get to my home. The customs fee was cheap, just $65. there were no other fees or taxes.

@@brandonkasten Yes the customs fee is charged by FedEx believe it or not. I didn't know ahead of time. You get billed about two weeks after the delivery of the scooter.
This looks like a death trap, i would be too scared to ride that thing lol. I heard it goes almost a hundred miles per hour, this beaat is crazzy.
It's extremely fast and I had it doing 75mph up a mountain road. 100mph is every bit doable but you would need a straightaway and empty rode to try it and I don't have that in L.A.
At 6:52 But why didn't you continue to climb?? That's the point of your video! I would have gone higher, in your place!
Because the road not only curves into a circle but the speed limit at that circle is 25mph. I would have been toast to continue the speed. Think safety not crazy.

I like it I just don't like the look of the extra battery that looks very out of place on the deck. Not a good look with there. Looks extremely tacky & ugly. Should figure out somewhere to put that thing.
I want to know what the acceleration is (the harshest acceleration), Is it possible for acceleration to exceed 160 km?
Yes, the acceleration is unreal. You can hit 160 km no problem but it depends on how much you weight and if you are in flat terrain. I weigh 68 kilos and I have gone that fast a few times but you need to be really careful at that speed.

Hello. I follow your RUclips channel and I already appreciate all the information I've gained from your videos, and all the comments you exchange with viewers. On March 7th, I decided to buy the Weped Sonic S Dual, full LED version and external battery. This version is 100.8V 100Ah, which when adding the third battery (external) becomes 100.8V 150Ah (gaining an incredibly amazing range)! It is currently in the construction phase, with an estimated delivery in the third week of April. I can't wait to receive this little monster and test it out.

LED's are an option. I don't like all of that nonsense as it doesn't make the scooter go any faster. Yes, mine is the standard color.

No, at most you might get a way with a light mist, but they are not IP rated at all, which doesn't bother me as i live in Los Angeles and it doesn't rain that often :)

I don't like motorcycles and I hate when they split lanes on the freeway. Scooters are a joy to ride on paved bike paths and you don't have to worry about getting sideswiped by a car.
I guess it depends on the state, but im guessing this will need to be registered? What class of vehicle would this even be?
You can't register these. They fall under the category of mopeds. There is nothing to do but ride them.
