Styx is a fantastic band and I will make a point of finding some that works on Merlin! I too have toyed with the concept of the added fret, though I was considering gluing on in as opposed to drillining and mounting that way. I am definitely going to research it further, but even with the extra fret, that elusive C is still quite a finger stretch!! For now, lets find sokme Styx!! Small world! I will in fact be moving back to China! I lived there for 12 years previously, and now, 6 years into returning to Canada, my family and I want to go back. My ukes and music stuff has literally crossed the ocean in suitcases several times! I know I can get everything in China these days (no Ukes available in 2004!!) and I may even still have a Merlin stashed there!! But I think I agree with you. My instruments are like my babies. I would rather pay a professional shipping company to send them all safely (hopefully) this time. Where about's in China are you? Great to know I won't be the only Merlin enthusiast in the country!!!

@@sirantstyle4435 I'm in Shanghai. Things have really changed since you have left. Some changes are for the better though. Where will you be at? I did actually just use this tutorial to take to the home bar haha. Many thanks for that. Also great that you can actually get back here. It is still quite tough for many, including old colleagues from Canada. If you are in the same parts though do let me know. I'm the only one in the lonely Merlin gang here that I know of. Searching on taobao though I have only ever found this one mahogany Merlin to buy. Bring your Merlin babies for sure. Ukes I can find pretty well. I don't play, but I do see them pretty commonly at guitar stores and schools. Merlin band 2022! Jia you!

@@dotnhon22 I will first be based in Shenzhen, just for the first year while we look for a home, preferably in a smaller town. My Chinese is still good enough I don't need to be near a major center to get by. In fact, I generally prefer the more "local" hoods. I know it's tough right now, but I am sure it will open up again as the world get's it's poop in a scoop and borders all re-open. Probably another year away I suspect. It's amazing how quickly Ukes caught on in China. In 2004 I was the ONLY one and nobody had seen a Hawaii Guitar before. Then a did a few TV interviews and even had one of my more popular videos showing on subways, busses and taxi screens for a year! A couple years later, Ukes as far as the eye can see! And real beauties too!! We will be traveling a lot in CHina on our return, so I will make a point to hit up SHanghai this time! We can show that town what Merlins are all about!!
