First 48 minutes of Rose to Toads 2022
Event: Rose to Toads
Sponsor: TAMBA
Rose to Toads is a ride that starts at Mount Rose NV and finishes on a trail called Mr Toads (Saxon Creek Trail aka Mr Toads Wild Ride). Most of it traverses the Tahoe Rim Trail and is about ~68 miles and ~8k vertical. Currently Geoff KaBush has the FKT. I've done this event numerous times, but this year I was going for a PR. Luck ended up not being on my side on this attempt. ~2.5 hrs in the the ride, my XTR shifter crapped out me.

New Tyrolean DH

The upper section of Tyrolean DH trail has a new additions. There is a re-aligned connector from the TRT to the start of the new jump and then there is the jump line itself. This is a full video from top to bottom. Ended up flatting the rear tire (what you see at the tail end of the video). What I didn't realize till later that day was that I also destroyed my front rim from a failure at the sp...

Tyrolean DH and a little TRT w/ some ebike drama

TLDR Skip ahead to 7:15 for proper Tyrolean DH. Start at 3:45 for the intersection of the TRT and Upper Tyrolean. Start from the beginning to observe dealing with an ebiker. I had a whole rant on this small interaction, but /delete. Some things are better left unsaid. Hope you guys enjoy the video. Sorry about the uncut nature and wind noise. Tyrolean is a cool trail. I've warmed up to it over ...

Got out to south shore pretty early in the season (May 24th) to get some laps in on Corral and Armstrong Connector. We tried to reach the TRT via Armstrong, but didn't make it up due to a bit of snow. Here's the run down Armstrong Connector on the way down.

We got two of these for our daughters ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L the same size for age 6 and 9. It works very well for both girls. Gears were very easy for them to learn. Changing gears up takes some hand strength and is a bit hard, but they are learning. They did not come with water bottle holders- we actually got confused and thought the Derailler Guard was the bottle holder!! Regardless of these details, the bikes are fantastic- even our six year old who only just learned to ride bikes caught on within an hour of practice and loves it. Lightweight and easy for them to handle. All the parts are in excellent condition and the bikes are easy to assemble and very well packaged. Great choice for kids!
Where did you start?
4289 Casa Loma Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037
This is one of my all time fav places to ride. I will normally go from Rancho up to Calero loop and back. Nice video
WHERE IS THIS??
👏👏👏
Man what an incredible course. I've done some long rando events in the past...a bunch of 9 hour 200 km brevets and one 300km, which took me like 14.5 hours. I'm not sure I could sustain any pace, let alone the one you demonstrated, for 8 friggin hours! Hats off man.
nice succes frend
Looks like you were following Reggie Miller at the beginning of the race .
@ridrup Another great video. I don't think you liked getting passed by that girl. She had some solid skills. My very first mountain bike race was a Norba national in Utah, this was years ago. I had been riding for about 4 months and I was fit but not so much from biking. The race starts and I get to the first long climb and this girl passes me going about two gears higher than me and she was about 35 pounds overweight. So I chased her down on the down hill and she passed me back on the next climb and I never saw her again until after the finish. I went over and checked the time sheets and she beat me by 8 minutes. Needless to say my stereotyping days were over after that humbling experience. Thanks for posting the videos.
Nice memories Todd. I still remember losing a 1on1 basketball game in 8th grade to girl who was 5'7 to my 6'2. Shouldn't have let her take so many 3s! :) The lady in this video is super strong and well known in the nor cal scene. In this event I was racing in the 3 person co-ed division so I was freaked out that she too was in the same category. When she passed me on the final climb at the end of the lap, I asked her of she was dong 2s or 3s and she said 2 person female. At that point I could have let her go but you know how it is!
Great video! That was a strong pace you had going on lap one. You had to be around top ten ish. Whoever put on the event did a great job. They had plenty of passing room to allow everybody to get sorted and not get stuck behind much slower riders.I like your strategy to get up front early. It pays dividends for the next few hours. Do they have any problems with bears in that area? I have had problems with them in Mammoth. Thanks for posting the great video.
the route is just awesoomeee. .those guys with single speed, huge respect.
I am very glad that I stumbled upon your video
Sweet. Glad you enjoyed it!
Just found out about this race. It's amazing to see this place again, I used to go to scout camp there 25 years ago!
Nice! I get that sense that this is a special spot for a lot of different people.. not just cyclists.
@@ridrup2077 I did a lot of fishing in the little coves you passed just after the start :D
Nice place to ride.
Nice race guys.support done
Wow,, amazing.. beautiful track my friend 👍🚴
Great spirit
12:36 i thought for sure you were doing down...
That guy with a single speed tho...mad respect hope he finished without suffering from cramps
Amazing euy🚴🚴🚴
Watch out and move, how about just call track and on your left if you want to pass
Hey Ken. In hind sight, I shouldn't have said it that way. Yelling "watch out" and "move" doesn't yield the best results or convey much direction. At the time though, the guy I was yelling at was going so slow and aimlessly (imo) that I didn't think he was currently doing a lap. I thought he was just riding around the pit area during his off lap. Honestly though, those type of people should know better and deserve to be yelled to GTFO. But as it turns out, the guy was actually ahead of me the whole time and he let off the gas a bit because he was doing the 8 hour solo (afaik).
love that bike place so good👍
It's a neat spot!
Wipe the lens ever now and than
Mad respect for the riders who run fixed gear bikes!! Wow!!
I racer to a lot 😀 as amateur in Norway, I enjoy to watch your video, nice course 💪💪👍
9:56 Single speeder ruining the flow!!!
Nice view idol❤
Nice idol! I hope to have a mountain bike to try trail❤
I enjoy watching your video I hope to have a mountain bike to try trail❤
Amazingly my friend 👍 Like
That pace is way to high for a 8h. Did you finish?
First lap = hot lap. It tends to pay dividends to avoid the masses and get out front early on. Keep in mind too most of the folks were doing this event as a relay race with two or three people. So it's more like 2-4 hours instead of 8.
That guy on the single speed kick your tail😂
Yuuup! That guy in yellow was pretty strong and Wente is an excellent course for running single speed.
great race ,nice video there so many participan..
Big up from moroco❤🇲🇦
Incredible!
Lots of snot rain 😂
I know. So bad. Hard to untrain muscle memory. Should have looked down and wiped the screen more.
Is that amount of rattle normal for internal cable routing?
I guess it depends on the frame and how things are setup. This bike is a Santa Cruz Highball (v3) which has the internal sleeves for the rear brake and rear derailleur housing. I went to the garage just now and dropped the front end and yes, I could hear the housing rattling within the frame. I tugged the cables so they were more taught within the frame and the sound reduced quite a bit. While I tend to be pretty OCD, apparently I tune out the rattling. I'll be more mindful before recording next time.
Sorry to make you guys dismount on the steep pitch. SS has its downsides. And agreed-team is a blast
Funny you were able to track down this video and find yourself causing mischief! all good about the dismount... it's racing and that's how things go sometimes. I'm not gonna feel sorry for you because of running SS though -- you guys are masochists!
@@ridrup2077 not sure how a friend found it; he didn’t even race.
very fun this trail and a beautiful descent. subscribed channel
This course looks super fun and though!
It's one of my favs. It's unique because it is on private property (a boy scout camp) so rules for trail building are a bit more open.
Sounds like an absolutely brutal affair. Chapeau my friend
Thanks Frazzy. It certainly helps doing it with a teammate. The 8 hour solo category is another beast entirely!
Im from around here and this dude is a tourist
Nice pace! I uploaded my 2nd lap over here ruclips.net/video/YD-zQbZpooA/видео.html but its only 1080p now and still processing 4k forever!
Thanks man. I hear ya about the slow processing times. Took a solid day to just get 1080p. Let's see how long for 4k!
@@ridrup2077 Took 6 days to finish 4k (33 minute video)
Great Ride! Havent been there and cant wait to check it out. Looks like a nice easy ride, hows the climb?
Trail looks awesome.....I need to give this a try.
New sub 👍
🔥🔥🤙🤙
I saw that rear wheel lift & pivot!
Damn, that's a quick recovery!
I've heard going into the turn slower is actually faster on the exit of the turn. You should try it. It probably could have prevented the fall and regained that 5 seconds. Just saying.
Soo true. You speak the word. The good word. If you want to message me, I can show you the way, minus the crashing part. that was just for the youtubers.
