This is a good video. Nevermind comments you've already read. This ought to give some the confidence to do their own oil change vs. paying approximately $450 at a Porsche shop. Have you thought about buying the Durametric software package or another OBD II tool to reset maintenance interval and check your systems? These are excellent tools especially as maintenance costs continue to skyrocket on newer 911s. I used Durametric Diagnostic tool to pre-purchase inspect a pre-owned 996 I bought one year ago.

I was going to suggest something, but I see that everyone on the comment section already have. So, I am going to divert the topic this way. I remember in the previous 911’s the owner could actually remove the entire engine air filter box and have plenty of room to do water pump, belt, and idler pulley replacements. Now, in this new generation of 911’s, Porsche clearly does NOT want the DIY to do anything but add coolant and oil. Jesus, there is absolutely no freaking room anymore under the rear hood. Such a shame, I would stay far away from this generation. Or take this to a trusted mechanic shop that actually have experiences with these cars. This is not a DIY car anymore but a museum piece when not being driven.

You realize that you could put an open-end wrench on the "flats" of the flex bar in order to turn it. I can tell that you don't work on vehicles often.

I noticed at 1:58 that you were trying to tighten the drain plug as you were trying to remove it. Chuckle! A few tips: always use a new sealing washer on the drain plug, get a 8 mm hex on a 3/8 inch drive socket instead of using an L wrench, place the cardboard further forward so as not to make a mess as seen at 8:25 and buy some tools. A Snap-On truck is like being in a candy store. If you can afford a Porsche, you certainly can afford some tools.

Buy some tools. A torque wrench and an extension is a good place to start. There are hex head attachments for your ratchet. A new O ring for the filter and crush washer are a must. The drain plug torque is 37 Ft.lbs and the filter housing 19.
