    That’s a beautiful testimony. I wonder what the Lord did among the cannibalistic tribe with the prior three missionaries who gave their lives. I lived in Japan and Korea. Based on accounts of those countries one would expect many zealous, faith filled believes in Korea and virtually none in Japan. I experienced the opposite.

    What an awesome testimony to the power of God so evident in the life of a man sold out to the Lord! Oh that God Almighty would raise up men and women who would give themselves to Him in true obedience that we in this generation will experience once again the outpouring of His Holy Spirit in our communities and turn the hearts of men, women l, boys and girls - sinners - to repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ!

    What I want to know is why Leonardo painted John either as a woman or the most effeminate man in the history of art? All of the other disciples were men and painted with masculine features. Leonardo was homosexual so he preferred painting men, yet John is a woman in the painting. Not commenting on the bible, just wondering about the painting.

    Q. Do any of the translators have a connection with the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Berkeley, Gloucestershire, or with relatives of the Berkeley family, and/or study or translation of or commentary on Josephus' "Antiquities of the Jews"? I'm trying to establish the authorship of an epitaph which was once at Berkeley.

      @@godspeculiarpeople Thank you for a quick reply, I really appreciate it. I've found a list of incumbents for the parish, so if the list of translators is online I can compare the two. Some philologist or other who was familiar with Josephus certainly had a hand in the epitaph.

    • @AntontheMove
      @AntontheMove 3 месяца назад

      I found a list for that as well and I apologize, I thought I had included the link to a site with short bios about the translators, but it appears I forgot! I will have to link added to the description later today

    • @lindsayheyes925
      @lindsayheyes925 3 месяца назад

      Hmmm... if the epitaph's author was not a translator, it may have been someone who was inclined to critique the translation, or was working on one of the concordances published around the time. It's beginning to look like a bigger rabbit-hole than I had thought.

    It was the greatest event that the bible was translated to be understood by the majority of those learned and to some extent the ordinary masses. However, it came with a price. It made christianity split into more than a thousand denomination, sect and cults of today. It even helped or made easy the atheism of some.

    I know about what happened to Jim Elliot. A movie on his life should be made for theatre screens, even if it gets an ‘R’ rating here in the USA 🇺🇸. Alas, among those actors who could have portrayed him have passed away. However, we may very well possibly be scraping the bottom of the barrel, for example, Mark-Paul Gosselar of “SAVED BY THE BELL” fame.

      @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

      Good luck. Also, we should see if maybe Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, or possibly Steven Spielberg would be interested in producing the movie as an epic historical dramatic biopic, however, we need to keep Peter Billingsley in mind for director, just in case?

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    If released on theatre screens, it’ll probably get a “PG-13” as a possible maximum or minimum.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    If and when the movie is made, it’ll have to start with a scene focusing on how her legacy has done such good, then we go to a scene showing how she got inspired to go into the field, to say the least.

    So far so good in finding enough information for a movie to be made.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    Ofcourse, the on location filming in Nigeria 🇳🇬 will probably be the most difficult. Above all else, some on location filming in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and such places should be easy enough together with studio based scenes at Pinewood, Twickenham, Elstree, and Shepperton will need to be figured on one step at a time.

    My oldest daughter went on student missions in college while attending Oral Roberts University, which is how she met her husband, an Afrikan (a caucassian gentleman who is descended from the great artist named Rembrandt on his father’s side of the family, and on his mother’s side of the family, he’s related to WW1 flying ace Baron Manfred Von Rictoffen aka The Red Baron) in Pretoria, South Africa 🇿🇦. I doubt that she knows about Slessor, but given due course, through the possible release of the movie might help in one way or another.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    “SLESSOR” should be the title used for the USA 🇺🇸 release while the title “CALABAR” would be good for both Canadian and European cinemas, thus permitting the title of “PIONEER MISSIONARY” for the releases in both Australia 🇦🇺 and New Zealand 🇳🇿. Ofcourse, it does depend on which U.S. studio that’s willing to help distribute the movie. However, segments in the movie covering 1875 to 1915 might just possibly work using specialized makeup for Megan Follows under the circumstances of filming production.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    Interesting segment. Too bad that Sir Robert Bolt passed away in 1995. However, I feel that my oldest son is able to write the screenplay of the movie. I’m puzzled as to why no one has done a genealogy review that could possibly link the Slessor family to the MacGregors like as in Rob Roy? No matter, I guess that too much research would overload the movie project.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    I don’t know how many of these details were mentioned in the classic 1939 movie titled “STANLEY & LIVINGSTONE”, but for more information, the movie is on different RUclips channels as well as being on DVD on the Fox Cinema Archives label, which means that it’s only available through mail order, and not available in retail stores.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    When comes to the filming of when she received the first mission assignment, the movie might just include a scene in which she visits a maker of wigs to who she sells her hair thereto? Such a scene would probably be the only one filmed using the split-screen process of the following angles: Front view Rear view Left side view Right side view Overhead view Both right and front profile view Both left and front profile view Both right and rear profile view Both left and rear profile view and views of the happening from the floor on up. This is simply the covering of all possibilities, and hopefully maybe the wigmaker in question will be played by the character-actress Holland Taylor in a cameo appearance as an Edinburgh version of the character of Madame Sofronie from O. Henry’s “GIFT OF THE MAGI”. Besides, it’s just possible that she might have had her hair 💇‍♀️ cut off the day before setting out on the voyage to the area to which she went to, and it doesn’t hurt to cover all possible details, to say the least???

  • @LindaCooper-i3f

    The Morrison gentleman mentioned in the part prior to this one, perhaps he should be portrayed by Peter Billingsley who’ll also serve as a possible 2ND unit sequence director? Just a possibility to consider.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    Ofcourse, the title of “PIONEER MISSIONARY” would also be a good title for the movie.

    As to possible supporting cast members, a great number of the Nigerian acting professionals will have to be cast, even though the movie could easily run about 270Minutes (4Hours 30Minutes) in order to make it into a true epic.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f
    @LindaCooper-i3f 5 месяцев назад

    Perhaps the title of the movie could possibly be “CALABAR”? Afterall, I guess that to get a good screenplay script written would obviously require just a very type good old fashioned manual typewriter is the best way to go. No electricity, no crashing from computer viruses, just a little dose of lubricant oil, and no problems whatsoever.

  • @LindaCooper-i3f

    If Megan Follows portrays Mary Slessor in a movie version for the theatre screens, surely Peter Billingsley should possibly be considered as a possible director with Hans Zimmer composing the score for the motion picture soundtrack album? Plus, alongside of on location filming in Nigeria 🇳🇬, surely some scenes should be filmed in small Scottish villages that haven’t changed much ever since the days of horse and buggy travel for the early years, and in the process of actual filming should be done in the 2.66:1 widescreen ratio aspect as used in the filming of the chariot race in the 1959 movie version of “BEN-HUR”. Upon release onto theatre screens, the film would be of an epic length in the tradition of directors such as Otto Preminger, Cecil B. DeMille, and Sir David Lean, which means that the movie will contain such novelties as an overture, intermission, and exit music.

    Too bad that no one has yet made a cinematic masterpiece on the the lives of other missionaries like, for example, Mary Slessor, Amy Carmichael, and the Judsons (Adoniram and Ann). Slessor’s work as a missionary took her into the deepest depths of Nigeria 🇳🇬 where she learned that tribal witch doctors often killed mothers who bore twins because of ancient superstition among the tribes in question. Then ofcourse we have Amy Carmichael who in her missionary work in India 🇮🇳 helped put a stop to the selling of children to temples that she thought of as being on the same level as a bordello. Then we have the Judsons who were the first ones to bring the word of the Holy Scriptures to Burma 🇲🇲, which is now called Myanmar 🇲🇲.

    After a recant trip to S. Africa, Zambia & Botswana that included some of the areas and rivers he traversed, i embarked on a reading campaign that included his travel journals and just as important his numerous letters. Dr Livingston was a great man, a man of tremendous moral and physical courage, and a man with great visions for a better future for the many impoverished tribes mired in suffering and destitution exacerbated by the vulgarities and criminalities of the slave trade that corrupted their cultures and spawned tribal warfare. Dr Livingston was a man of reason, who gained success with the tribes by being respectful and unbiased. His overwhelming goal after he personally witnessed the shameful brutality of slavery was to do everything he could to stop it. His vision was strategic - offer alternatives to wealth accretion by finding a way to open the major rivers to trade and commerce. Like his missionary goals, it was not immediately successful but eventually would be so as it is today. Today these parts of Africa filled with great people are developing and beginning to thrive. Over time the Christian message got through and the majority are now Christian. Dr Livingston was the cornerstone of these profound and fortunate changes. He was truely a great man.
