Up top, getting hot!
Up early to see if we could find the big one from a week ago, i was expecting it to be a horrible day as just about the whole state had storm warnings, some places even had a tornado warning which is exceptionably rare for Victoria!
unfortunately, I spent a lot of the day out of the hunt but it was still an awesome day out. we ended up with 3 for the day.
by 1 it was too hot to hunt so we pulled the pin and went home.

Sounds like summer today. still got a good Stag (Hound Hunting)

Well the days are getting hotter, but we still managed to find this nice stag. when the dogs started it took a lot of country really quickly and then bailed in a creek a looong way from any track! One of the young bokes took him after pushing it out of a bail up a few times. Enjoy the video and check out the others on the channel.
Easy Start!!

Got the opportunity to hunt some farm fringe country, we watched what ended up being a handy stag walk off the paddocks. This made for an easy start!
Biggest Stag so far!!

It was time again for us to help a local farmer out, I know the reality is that he's doing us a favor by letting us hunt his place. There were reports of a 25" stag hanging around so that was the one we were after!! The day started with a lot of excitement as we watched a big bodied stag walk off the paddocks giving us an easy start, well so we thought, As it turned out he was still a little ha...
2 Deer on day 2!

Day 2 of a 2 day hunt, as day 1 left me with a broken clutch meaning I had to get the rest of the way to the hunting area on foot, this made a long-ish walk for us. We had 2 hunts for the day getting 2 deer. it was a fantastic day. we ended up with 5 on day 2 and another 2 on day 2.
It was bound to break eventually.😒 (hound hunting)

Only the 1 this week.

I woke up soaking wet as the swag I took isn't the most water proof and we had more rain then expected. We worked hard for only 1 this week, in reality I wasn't ever really in the hunt. Still it was awesome to be able to walk again!! We had a small stage down by 9:00 but did struggle to find it in the river that was steadily rising all day.
Lame, But lucky!

Even though I was nursing an injury I wasn’t going to let the opportunity to take my daughter hunting pass by. It was a good hunt that we were involved with for most of the day. We eventually had this velvet stage trot out and I was able to get it
Strong winds, weak leg.

Went back to see if we could find the deer with the big foot from a couple of weeks ago, it was a wild night and day wind wise! but that all adds to the adventure. We ended up with 3 deer for the day, unfortunately we were unable to find the one with the big foot and to make it worse I managed to injure my calf meaning I won't be doing much in the bush for a few weeks.

Well done, boys!
“Any deer take in front of the hounds , is a good deer”. I’m missing it. Thanks for sharing.
Do you eat the meat?
100% the meat is the reason I hunt.
Hell yeah guys. Some great footage 👌
Thanks mate!
Awesome hunt bloke.. Are they Foxhounds you use..?
We are sticky regulated on dog breeds we can use for hound hunting, there are also size limits on those breeds. We use a mix of Beagles and Harriers bloodhound are also acceptable.
Awesome hunt guys 😂😂😂😂
Great footage. What did he end up measuring
Thanks, it went 26.5”
I like how the young fella bailed on the hard work and left you to carry the head. Hope he had a cup of harden up when you got out.
He certainly didn’t bail on the hard work!! He carried it most of the way I just gave him a hand with the steepest thickest part.
good stuff!
Glad you liked it!
Are you catcing gippsland crays?? Euastacus yerwashi
They are Euastacus kershawi in the video
@@wheretoonext yes. That's what I meant. Where was that?
Well done mate!
*deer gets close* deer:bro wat da hell
Cracker Stag fellas! Team work makes the dream work, everyone played their part perfectly! Well done!
Could you sent it to my home here in Philippines, I would love to keep it in my pond for breeding.
Yes me too
Well done on your stag and video showing the enjoyment and respect for samba hunting,it’s about time the government woke up to the amount of deer taken by hunters and the amount of money generated by them and stop the madness culling programs bloody ridiculous the value of samba deer out ways any so called negative impact by them
Every deer taken over the hounds is a good deer, but some are a little more special and a little more memorable. You will not forget this one. He’s bloody nice! I still recall the morning I got my PB. The sound of the hounds on the opposite slope, the early light coming through the trees and the drops of dew falling through it…….. and the big boy wading around the bend in the river, thinking he’d outsmarted the hounds.
Nice work boys 🤙🍻
Thanks mate. Strangely enough it was the only hunt all year I didn’t get the dogs voicing on film.
Congratulations man you should check out the vid of a 40.5 inch stag I got stalking on some amazing public land . There are 3 not so good vids I filmed on my IPhone that I uploaded a few years back when I harvested it . Crap vids but a monster of a stag
40.5” was it a Sambar? Put the link up for us
Best shot 💯👍
Great job gents, his a cracker Stag. Should definitely go on the wall and be appreciated.
I typically don’t agree with hound hunting, more of a fair chase guy. But I enjoyed that edit, well done. Enjoy the trophy on the wall!
Hound-hunting is very much fair-chase. The quarry is pursued in the most natural manner, one which it is well-adapted to avoid, and which allows it to use all of its natural defensive abilities. A kill when hunting in this manner is far from a certainty.
100%! With all the technology that the modern stalker carries it’s probably less fair chase. I have often wondered if everyone in the crew went stalking instead of hounding would we get more deer per weekend? My feeling is we probably would. But it’s not about that at all it’s about working with the dogs and others to enjoy the bush. I enjoy both styles of hunting and we should definitely all stick together to protect each other and a common interest, Hunting.
@@wheretoonext With you all the way. It’s well to be aware of the advantages that technology gives us, including things like scent-blockers and long-range optics - both of which deny quarry the use of their natural senses. I’d also point out that the term “fair chase” arose amongst people for whom hunting with hounds was THE method.
Awesome job very nice looking head
Thanks mate. It’s a fantastic shape im wrap with it
Beautiful head well done 👏
Nice one 🤙 Always unreal catching up with a stag on the hounds especially a PB!
I might need to work on my size estimates calling it a 23-25 was A little wrong
@@wheretoonext hard when they’re on the move!
If you don’t have a tape measure. Measure with your sling or any pliable non elastic material. Than lay it on the ground and use your phone measurement on your camera.
Good tip!
Nice that's the way to do it 👌👍
Great video mate very enjoyable
Glad you enjoyed it!
Always been interesed in hound hunting and seeing how it all works seen and heard plenty of yous in the bush but never participated happy hunting mate
It’s definitely worth trying to get an invite and giving it a go. It’s a lot of fun!
Hound-hunting... AKA "Standing in the rain, listening to hounds that are running in the wrong direction." If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
Totally disagree with using dogs for deer. Using your own wits/skill to get deer is very rewarding not using dogs and cars.
Ignorance and prejudice on your part, do not make us wrong. There is far more hard work in keeping hounds than pulling your rifle out of the safe. You get to call off your hunt whenever you feel like it. We only get to finish when the dogs come out. You don't go any further than you feel comfortable. We go wherever the deer and hounds take us. You do you best to deny the deer the use of their primary senses and defensive behaviour. We hunt in a way that ensures that the deer knows we are coming. It is fair chase, and one of the oldest and most traditional forms of hunting. You do you, but sneering at others does not make you "better". 😢
Wits and skill🤣🤣 Are you just trolling?? Nothing more rewarding than training and working with good dogs. Take all of your stalking skills and multiply them by 3 or 4. I'd challenge you to even keep up Gary
@@timebert9467 This is just like some of the hunts in Africa where the hunter sits in a blind in comfort with food and drink and the game is driven towards them to shoot their trophy for the wall. Thats not hunting and neither is flushing game with dogs. Sorry to spoil your party.
@@gary426 Right. Ummm... Any other -incites- insights?
@@gary426 hound hunting is one of the oldest forms of hunting, we’ve got to band together not be against each other. Otherwise the government will stop all forms of hunting and just send choppers in or poison them , there’s more deer around now than 40 years ago
Your half way to setting that trap what about digging the hole putting paper on the trap and the sand over the top of it all you going to catch is a finger
I didn’t know hound hunters had teeth!
😂😂 most of us are alright.
@@wheretoonext hahaha into it mate, all the best!
Where are you ?
The Dog had the right idea 😂 good work guys 👍
The river was quite cold! I would of done the same if it was an option
Mate are group to We only shot 1
Blame the helicopters
Mate Justing saying we hunt until dark
We quite often do as well, but it’s nice to be done at lunch time occasionally
Nice placement. No need to track that one. Problem with the go pro on the head is getting it positioned right. Might be worth investing in a shotkam.
The thought had definitely crossed my mind. The camera work for this video was seriously poor
How about your activity now. Tq
Locking gates on most tracks in the peak of hunting season, they argue to protect tracks from arrogation But in reality GMA can increase game licence costs to cover track repairs. Aerial culling costs millions also doing this they leave carcasses in water ways, tracks, etc GMA laws and regulations don’t mean a thing for this lot feeding wild dogs , foxes etc with all dead deer. then comes 1080 for those animals. Who’s got this contracts? Corruption in Victoria is next level. Good hunting boys! Keep it up
😂 I was thinking that spots like a gateway then i noticed the fence 🙄
Thanks for the vids ! They been great , keep it up , Bloody wind was out of control like that down big river , I couldn’t sleep all night the noise was insane . Looking toward to future vids 👍🍻
Thanks 👍
that look so cool you just got a new sub
Thanks for the sub!
Should head over to Mansfield way plenty of big stag around got a beauty last weekend
Nice work mate...weather is a bitch ! thanks for sharing - hope you heal well - take care of it .... or it will come back to bite you when you're older ...cheers
Thanks mate, it’s well on the mend now as you’ll see in the next video.
Excellent video. What breed of dogs do you use and where do you hunt?
Dude you did well keeping the rain off the camera. Not many people understand how hard it is to hunt that sort of terrain let alone film it. Fabulous stuff.
Thanks, I often tell people I delete about 20hrs of footage for every 1hrs worth of video. Filming hunting is totally different to just about anything else and you don’t get a second take
You boys go hard well done 💪👍
