Viking army was marching without their armor when they were surprised by English. Since surrender was not an option they fought a battle where over 80% of ,Viking army was killed, and remaining went back in fraction of ships used by invasion force. English had heavy losses too which might have decided Battle of Hastings fought against Normans soon after.

Harold Hardrada and his army were surprised by English army while marching without their armour. In situation like that is probable that skilled fighter would receive number of smaller wounds before fatal injury.

By his men. Why? The accounts say he was crossing a bridge which would have made him a easy target. Who's idea was it to go there? Vlad was sharp, he escaped before during battle and would not have gone in the open unless he was with people he trusted. Was it for gold? Probably. Vlad loved killing people and he ran and controlled everything so they probably got very little from him. He gave to the people, built on the castle and weapons so what about his men? I think that's the motive.

Or is Vikings vahalla the next series? Man Ragnar is hot af , and ivor was prob my fav actor somehow despite how evil he was. If you havent seen it , get out from under the rock u were living in like I did and u will not b disappointed!!! So many different story lines and every single one has u on the edge of ur seat. The way they managed to keep you in suspense thru out was nothing short of genius. HAD EVERYTHING FROM drama suspense horror comedy , even cried a few times. Travis Finley reminds me of tom hardy. Whoever did the casting job knew the mfin assignment. Will be following all of them in whatever work they do in the future.

Very interesting. If you are interested in Vikings, you may want to follow this thread. I have found a mound in Ringive, Denmark, near Jelling, where according to a lost saga, a king Ring lies. I have done research; think Ringivegaard, a family farm that has gone from father to son for more generations than anybody remembers, may have been a Kings farm. Sigurd has been the firstborn son's name. Sigurd Ring is famous in the Volsunga Sagas. A tribe alliance ("Vikima" = first letters in Vikings, Kikuyus and Maasais) is in Kenya, "the king" (unofficial) is a Sigurd Ring, his father was born on Ringivegaard. The story is intriguing. I would love to tell more, possibly help make a video ...

The creators of the show did something amazing. They crafted a story into the context of real (albeit inaccurate) history. The truth is historians have no idea what really happened, they can only postulate based on limited documentation and oral history. I think what they did with the show was amazing and despite the lackluster last few seasons it’s still one of the best shows ever televised.

Minor correction regarding the name “Ethelred the Unready:” the epithet “Unraed” was apparently attached to his name over 150 years after his death; it did not mean “Unready,” but “Ill-Advised” or “Badly-Counseled.” (See his Wikipedia entry for a detailed discussion of this epithet, and how it was a mocking pun on his first name.)
